You have totally misread me. "The people who it was written to" were 1st century Jews and Gentiles. I am as far from a Dispensationalist as possible. Even when I went to a Pentecostal denomination PAOC (affiliated with AoG) I never believed all that nonsense. And was branded a heretic for my eschatological beliefs by the statement of faith.

Who on earth did you think thosed people were? Context means first the people that the epistle or gospel was written to. Context only means incidentally, to us today, and in many cases not at all.

I have always believed that the Bible warned the Jews over and over in the OT, including taking both Israel and Judah captive. Then, after Jesus was born, lived, died and was resurrected, the promises or prophecies of the Messiah, came to an end, fulfilled in Jesus, except in a few rare cases. Jews are not part of the New Covenant (unless they are born again believers) and the Old Convenant is finished, over.

You REALLY ought to take a course on hermeneutics. You have no clue how to interpret Scripture.

By the way, I noticed you never commented on my simple and obvious commentary on Matt. 8. To say nothing of the fact, that you need to read exactly what was written in the book of Job. God not only allowed Job's illness, but he encouraged the devil to seek Job out! And gave the devil definitive instructions the limits on what he was able to do. First, Job was not allowed to be touched in his body. Then, God allowed the devil to touch his body just to not kill him. And those sores or boils, sound like a serious and debilitating staph infection. But, no, you have some alternate explanation for that entire book of the Bible. Also known as rationalizing.

Well, since you are not only twisting the Bible to contort it into your special heresy, but now twisting and reading into my words what I did not say, to say nothing of never commenting on my posts and exegesis of every Scripture you posted, because you can't, there is nothing you can say that has not been disproved, by merely using the fundamental rules of Biblical interpretation. I am out of this discussion.
Uh,you are not infallable.
And yes,you are into false doctrine.
That is your basis for culling out verses by saying " who is it to" overriding " who wrote it"

Psssst....God wrote the whole thing.
Who.... is God
To who....is me

Sure you can change reality with your words, for go to the worse city in America, and bad mouth the neighborhood, and acting tough, and come out people and I will whip your butt, and you will change reality real fast.

Or run towards the White House spouting off you will get the president, and put him in his grave, and you will change reality real fast.

Or slander your boss, and call them a piece of crap, and money grubbing leach, that pays their employees crap, and raises that are pathetic, or do not come at all, after you have been there for 10 years, but your financial situation is actually worse for things in society went up more than your pay to keep up with it, and you will change reality real fast.

Or tell your spouse that you cheated on them with 10 different people, and you plan to do it again, and you will change reality real fast.

So our words can change reality, lol.

You can contrast it to having the belief "It IS the Lord's will to heal you because of Jesus's finished work on the cross", and then proceed to pray for healing for either yourself or others.
if you are saying everyone should be healed I would disagree with that conclusion

even Paul was not 'healed' and God told him that His strength was sufficient and he would not be healed

and Paul accepted that as the will of God for him and did not address it again (apparently)

is there something wrong with praying that God's will be done? Jesus even used that expression when the disciples asked Him to teach them to pray

should we pray for healing? yes of course we should...but some have actually died, some go away angry at God and some become very depressed when they start with the idea that God will heal them if they only have enough faith

seems to me if a person is praying for healing in the first place, they have that 'faith like a mustard seed' going on or they would not ask to begin with

I don't know the bigger picture here, but I would always pray and maybe keep praying unless like Paul I was told 'not going to happen'

we have John 3:16 that states God is not willing for anyone to die in their sins and go to eternal condemnation (my paraphrase) but we do not have an equivocal verse that states the same regarding healing of the body

as I have said more than once in this forum, Jesus died so we could have our sins forgiven. He healed BEFORE the cross so healing was ALWAYS available.

We are judged here in this life as mature believers.
We should welcome it.

Most folks wreck and destroy others in their "righteous judgement"
I agree for the most part with this. I would say some people berate others in their " righteous judgement", but I would hesitate on saying most people do it. Though many people when angry or irritated will at times say things they should not or in a tone of voice that is not good. I have both said things I should not have and used a tone of voice that was inappropriate. I know the verse that encourages us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to be angry and at times it is really easy to switch all that around in actions so that I am doing the opposite of what these verses instruct.

Ahh, the classic "Thorn in the flesh" of Paul that so many interpret at sickness. Let's just say that, in American English, if I ever write, you are such a "pain in the neck", does that literally mean you are a sickness that is afflicting my neck too? :)

But the term thorn in the flesh refers to people, and let the bible interpret the bible here Numbers 33:55

`But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall come about that those whom you let remain of them will become as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides, and they will trouble you in the land in which you live.

As I have pointed out, there are verses that promised healing, its really our own personal interpretation, which as I have said to Angela, comes from the church we are from, the christian background we have, etc, that will result in different interpretations, try Psalms 103, Hebrews 13:8.

But at this time, let us agree to disagree since I understand that, at this modern age, its far easier to believe that "your sins are forgiven' compared to 'rise get up and walk'. You don't need to show physical proof of the former, while the latter, there are always people who "seem" not to be healed after you pray in faith. If you don't believe physical healing is part of what Jesus done for you in the cross, its fine, you are still a Christian. :)

Yes.
Thre is no point in praying for healing if it is not settled in you that God wants us healed.
Enter the nay sayers.
Not only is healing "scruffed off" for them personally, they actually change the word, seek out false teachers, then, with authority, lead others into trashing their faith also.

You cant make this stuff up.
So bizarre.
Most people who hold that view have trusted the Lord with healing in the past, but did not see their healing manifest physically.

So its perfectly understandable that, to solve the cognitive dissonance, they choose to adopt the view that "God might heal, or he might want to use my sickness as a way to glorify him".

As I have mentioned elsewhere, if all he did was to grant us salvation, he just needed to shed his blood, like all the OT lambs that were being sacrificed.

But Jesus undergone something that none of those lambs did, he was actually whipped. Why did he have to be whipped as well? Do you have a view about that?

A doctrine that says "God loves you so much, and hates sickness so much, that it is always his will to heal you" is considered to be false and is deceiving believers? :)

How little you regard God's love for you when even the pagans would regard their own children in a likewise manner (Matthew 7:11)

It has nothing to do with Gods love. I believe there is no different I am sick ore healthy. Ore would you say to a with sickness born believer.
God loves you. He dont want that you are sick. You only must believe it.
He has alredy physical healed you at the cross. You must just believe it.
But this person still remain with the sickness.
Do you then tell him your faith is not strong enough?
You gave him a false promiss!
In my understanding this is false teaching and deceives the believer.
Finaly to come to the conclusion that God does not love him, because he remain sick.
And tell me not that every sick person is in reality without sickness, he must only believe it.
This is a lie. And tjis teaching is not from our heavenly father.

Walk trough the valley
No but Reality in God can change you by His Word that is Spirit and Life.
Once I asked God if I should get a gun for hunting in a famine. You would be surprised at His answer and it applies to your question: You don't need any invention. Having all knowledge or anything without Love, "I am nothing." Can anything change Reality. The Father is the Life of everything, He does not need our help, we need His help, to change by His Spirit.

You forgot the story of Abraham, our Father in faith?

How many years pass when God rename Abram to Abraham, which means Father of many, to the birth of his first son Issac?

Again, if you choose to believe physical healing is not part of Jesus's finished work on the cross, you are free to do so. God still loves you.

But to call those who believe otherwise as believing in a "false doctrine", be very careful. :)

As always the answer is in the word

Mat 18
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting

Start at the begining.
As always, you got to crawl before you walk.
You are not going to get anywhere with authority over anything without knowing who you are and Gods will in any given situation.
We find his will in the word.
Start in the word, not in your mind.

That is a parallel to the authority.

I believe it is James.

The tongue is like a rudder on a ship. Able to turn a huge vessel.
With it we bless and curse.

A parallel to authority.
