Seems of a mockery than a funny bible story, I don’t see nothing funny about it Jesus cried because Lazarus had died.
but Jesus knew Lazarus was going to be raised so it wasnt that. I reckon he wept because nobody really believed Him at that point.

Not getting the joke...well some things are beyond me too.

When Jesus asked the mathematical question to the disciples about how many loaves and fishes they had. And nobody could calculate it.

Another Martha story when Lazarus is dead for four days and Jesus wants to open the tomb but Martha ever so practical and clean says he will stink.

I mean Jesus is going to raise Lazarus from the dead and all Martha can think about is her propriety. Jesus tells her hes doing this so people will believe and see the glory of God.
I dont know if Martha held her nose as Lazarus came out...it doesnt say. Maybe some angels quickly gave the tomb a bit of air freshening spray before he came out.

Later we learn Mary gives Jesus a bottle of perfume. Maybe Martha suggested this gift as a kind of not so subtle way of saying Lord you smell. Well Jesus did say thank you and that this was for his burial so maybe he took note.

Do you think we will be able not only to see the glory of God but to smell him? Now I might be reading a bit more into the Bible than what is there but just find it so funny. Lol
Apparently you are reading more into these stories or just don't understand them at all. While there are some funny stories in the Bible, what you have done here has made a mockery out of these two stories.

Martha was merely stating that Lazarus had been dead for a long time (four days). She didn't have faith that Jesus could raise him from the dead and that is why she said to Jesus earlier that if you had been here he wouldn't have died. So when she says Lord he stinks by now, she is not concerned with how he smells but stating her unbelief that Jesus could raise him from the dead. So then Jesus answers her by saying didn't I say that if you believed then you would see the glory of God. Nothing to do with being prim and proper and nothing funny at all about this story.

Mary anointing Jesus for his burial is definitely not a funny story, either. Rather a very important story in so much that Jesus said that where ever the gospel is preached what she has done will also be told for a remembrance of her. And I'm sorry to say this but to come up with something like he stunk and she gave him some perfume and hopefully he learned his lesson is appalling and a mockery.

I'm not trying to be a tyrant here. I myself enjoy a good laugh, but people need to be careful when it comes to things like this. Yeah, there are funny stories in the Bible, but lets not make fun of stories that are serious and not supposed to be funny.....Just saying.

Lazarus endured a suffering death which you fail to see, it’s pretty plain you haven’t a clue about it.

Lazarus wasnt suffering at all when he got raised to life.

If i see something funny, its funny to me, if you dont see it as funny, then you dont.
What Jesus saw and why he deliberatly delayed was so the faith of all could be strengthened.

Plus our mourning is turned into joy.

Am not mocking anything i'm just seeing the funny side of things.
GOd does have a sense of humour and we can look back on things even terrible things and laugh at how foolish we were, and its only cos we human and fallible. We dont understsnd things all the time.

Thats funny...

It could be funny ha ha or funny you just dont get it.

Either or.

One thing funny I found the I dont get it type is...

Abrham bargaining with God about the righteous in sodom and gomorrah. He really doesnt want his nephew Lot to be killed among with the rest cos he lives in sodom. Abrhams hoping there are at least 50 people rightous living in sodom, but kind of realises that there are slim chances of that. Its ever diminishing...

Its kind of like a dutch auction. Or haggling. The way he bargains it down to ten. But there werent even ten righteous living there.

And Abraham doesnt come right out and say to God, hey can you just please save my nephew lot. Which is what many people would do right? How many of us pray numerically for people to be saved. LOrd can you save 50 people. Or failing that, 40 people. No? How about 30.

Yeah, God does have a sense of humor and there are funny stories in the scripture, but you actually added your own little interpretation, and thoughts, and words to the scriptures. By doing so made a joke of things that were never meant to be funny. At one point, even taking an instance that was very important to Jesus to say Mary did this because he was stinky. But hey if that's how your mind works then take it up with God. It's between you and him.

I mean, I could add all kinds of things in trying to crack a joke on scriptures, and probably be able to make even the most serious things in there funny, but won't do it because to me that's mockery and blasphemy.

I think Malachi 2:3 proves Gods sense of humor when he says he is going to smear poop in priests faces and wipe their seed out and snatch them up!!!! Capture+_2019-02-28-09-25-50-1.png

I think the Lord he stinketh reaction Martha had was funny. But if people dont think so thats ok.
I can only see it from a remove.

There are many bible stories that are funny. If youve ever taught children they see things a funny way too. And they just have toilet humour. Something you cant really avoid. This is why captain underpants is funny.

Now captain underpants may have a very good reason why he wears his underpants on the outside of his clothes. But many of us wont understand that and just think its funny.

Apparently you are not getting it. Do you think it was funny to say Mary anointed Jesus because he was stinky and he then he learned and took note of it? I mean really, where are you getting things like this... if not just flatly making them up to crack a joke. Which ain't funny?

There are a lot of funny stories in the Bible and many people have posted some of them here. They didn't add words and thoughts to them to make them funny they already were. What I'm saying is you can't just go in and add your own words to make things in the scripture funny, when they are not. If that were the case then where should you end it...I mean, should I go in and add a bunch of jokes and my own words to the scripture where Jesus was crucified, to make it funny. Seriously, would that be cool with ya???

Now that's really funny. Apparently you just read what you want to on everything. How many times did I say there were funny stories in the Bible????

Yet, there are things that are not funny. If you can't get why Mary anointed Jesus, then now I'm just concerned for you. I mean seriously he told the disciples the reason, but you still can't get it. You keep on wanting to crack some jokes on Jesus calling him stinking.... How old are you? Most kids could read that and understand what it means so where's your comprehension.

I agree with you 1ofthem, the story’s in the Bible are already written out and there is no need to twist them into trying to make them funny, like you said people got be wise not to step on Spirit toes for some story’s are not funny the death of Lazarus is one.

if someone finds those humorous written passages that ok. there are story’s in the Bible that convey saddeness, happiness, humorous, seriousness and few other feelings.
