I believe that was a GIVEN, because Many of their Congregation used to be Pagans.
So they would chime in with what they learned to do in the Pagan Cults.
That is what why Paul had to CORRECT THE Tongues usage, because apparently a Demon used the voice of someone who was using the Pagan Ecstatic Utterances to CURSE CHRIST.
1 Corinthians 12:1-3 (CSBBible)
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts: brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware.
2 You know that when you were pagans, you used to be enticed and led astray by mute idols.
3 Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

I respect the true believing Pentecostal and Charismatics as BROTHERS and SISTERS in CHRIST. Sure they have the Miracle Gifts wrong, but True Tongues were to confirm the NEW TESTAMENT to Jews, and is the Least Import Gifts. Being gifted to be Church Secretary was a much more important Gift than that.

I've told this before. We had a good friend that use to play bass for us early on when we began in ministry. Great guy,but he was Baptist and was dead set against speaking in tongues. Like VOC he believed it was done under demon power or something that wasn't Biblical.
So one morning we were in a Pentecostal church, we traveled in all denominations, and someone spoke out in tongues and it was interpreted. Worried about how our Baptist friend was going to respond we sat down to dinner and began to try and explain,thinking he was upset about what had happened. He stopped us and said "I knew the answer before it came". We were all stunned. He said again " I knew the interpretation before someone else gave it". I think he shocked himself. Anytime people spoke to him about it after he would tell the story and that he now didn't believe it was wrong or demonic. As the blind man said "This much I know,once I was blind,now I can see". I don't know if he ever got the in filling of the Holy Spirit, we moved to the US. But he did find out that tongues is real and for today. God sometimes has to speak directly to people to change their minds. And in this case He did it in such an amazing way.

See this should worry people
People are filled wiht the HS the moment we are saved, Not everyone who is filled wiht the HS speaks in tongues or prophesies.
This is what gets you all in trouble. You make statements like this which are not biblical. Then think the rest of what you said is verified or should be proof for us all to just fall on our knees and believe that what many today call tongues is from God.
I am sorry. But if you can not get the basics of christianity, the milk of the gospel right. How can we think you can get the rest right.
PS. There are baptists who believe in speaking in tongues, I know that is a shock to you, but there are. I have met them personally. Even I believe God has a use for tongues. And I was a lifelong baptist.

But the HS gifts many people with many gifts. All as the bible says, just as important as the other. (The lowest gift or the feet, are just as important as the greatest, or the head) And he only gifts them is needed to complete the body.
The body of christ does not need everyone to speak in tongues.. so when someone says everyone can do it. Well they better all also be pastors, and teachers, and prophets, and have the gifts of helps and the all the gifts we are told the HS distributes through out the church. Which is=f that is true (and its not) prety much means the gifts are meaningless.

Hold the horses brother,hold the horses. I am NOT holiness. I do not believe you must speak in tongues to be saved and I do not believe that you aren't saved until you speak in tongues. THAT is the issue with tongues,people believe holiness beliefs represent all Pentecostals and Charismatics. So before you run out of ammo and throw the gun at me please ASK and don't ASSUME what I believe. I do not believe any of that.

Absolutely there are many gifts and all are important. Again that is an assumption being made by those who don't speak in tongues. That people that speak in tongues feel they are superior. I do not and trust me I have traveled in hundreds of tongue speaking churches and that is not their belief. That is an unfair and blanket judgment to make. That is why that abuse the HS anger me so much. And I call them out!! Because the make the rest of us look like fools and we have to defend ourselves against attacks.

I am not is what you mean, the infilling? Gift do not come from this, they come from the HS, who is already in you because of salvation, giving you a particular gift (or maybe more than one) as he feel fit for within the body of Christ.
This idea that it comes from some “baptism of the spirit” or some “infilling of the spirit” I just do not see biblically how that fits sis.

Oh I do. I think what goes on in a lot of Pentecostal/Charismatic churches is PRECISELY why Paul wrote 1 Cor 14. A lot of 'tongues talkers' are their own worst enemies, and why there is so much confusion on the subject. But to dismiss tongues altogether is just as wrong as doing them incorrectly.
