"Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water." (John 4:10)

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:32)

"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." (2 Corinthians 9:15)

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:8)

"But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many." (Romans 5:15)

Of course, I wouldn't expect a Judaizer/Pharisee such as yourself to accept the fact one cannot earn what is freely given.
This is the problem with the concept of God giving us life.
It has always been conditional. The world does not receive this gift, it rejects it and all it represents.
Jesus the light was rejected. What the light discloses is mans inability to love and walk righteously.

And it is this walking that everyone approves of whether believer or unbeliever.
The whole point of salvation is to empower the people of God to walk righteously, and shine like
a light on a hill about victory and love by doing good works.

You demonstrate by your approach where you stand on this reality and the failure of your approach
to shine.

And the word I highlighted above is the moment you contradicted yourself.
Faith alone is faith in action. The foolishness of your language is belief without reality.
Your gospel is only possible because non-christian society is generally very functional.
It therefore means the difference between walking in the light and love does not appear
that different from others.

But if you come from a life of sin and destruction, His truth is like night and day, and you
just want to shine this reality to everyone around.

yes
since you brought it up, do you keep the standards and precepts laid out in the Sermon on the Mount, 24/7, without fail?
yes or no.
Yes that is my aim. I am still working on it, in humbleness and aspiration.
Your question holds within it your rebellion. Jesus is simply saying live like
this, it is the way of life in the Kingdom. It is not an exam or a set of rules it
is about becoming a loving, caring, functioning child of God.

I could hate you, and take your opposition as if it something I detest, except
I know why you find these things difficult, because they declare you are not the
person who is capable of for instance, loving your enemy. But you do not know
why? Answering the why changes one, it breaks some things down, heals hurts,
makes you see and feel things you never expected until one day you can love,
and it is not an aspiration but a reality.

So the man today who finds the sermon on the mount impossible, will in Gods
grace and love, find a time when it is their heart. And that man is a man of
God.

I see we have another low life coward using my name and a curse to post angry faces....coward being key word!
Does this site have any restraint when it comes to names and being allowed to join
I thought an account has to be APPROVED before allowed to post.....so why ALLOW DcontroversialisANETHEMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The name DcontroversialisANETHEMA sounds like any other name. Does it really bother you?

And getting angry faces is not actually anything of importance. I think you want approval and
the feeling people like you more than you admit, lol.

And are they "a low life coward" and "a curse" How big is this bubble that is being popped?

We are called in Christ to carry our cross, to take curses and insults and return blessings.
So friend, God bless you, and may you find the Lords love and peace in your life.

The answer is obviously NO....
Hi dcon, like you fellow brother you failed to understand Jesus's teaching about becoming,
and being transformed.

His teaching is about cleansing and learning to walk His way by putting things into action
by choice, and then we become and grow as children of the Living God.

Praise the Lord He opened the gate and showed us the way, Amen.

do you think the verse applies to some people and not others, it applies to me.
If dcon is following the free grace theology, everything in the sermon on the mount does not apply
to any believer.

It does make me wonder at the ignorance of many about what different theological positions represent,
and how this matches to whether people are full of grace and the fruit of the Spirit or not.

It has become very apparent, once you are their "enemy" nothing is barred. But then if you are under
free grace, you only appear to follow Jesus, you do not actually believe anything He represents really
matters, its just getting saved that counts.

A getting saved Christian is quite a selfish objective, especially for a people who claim selfish amibition
is evil, lol.

But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.
WHat makes you think that person is his brother?

1 An oracle is within my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin.
3 The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and to do good.
4 Even on his bed he plots evil; he commits himself to a sinful course and does not reject what is wrong.
Psalm 36:1-4

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure
Jerem 17:9

This is an interesting verse which requires interpretation. To some this means their heart is lost
impossible to change or resolve. But Jeremiah is saying by itself mans heart will never be good,
righteous and whole. It can recognise problems but it will deny them and justify itself to everyone,
the more intelligent it is, the better it is at lying.

It is why we need Jesus to cleanse us, to bring holiness and love to rule our hearts.
This is why the cross is so strong, so stark, and why God had to die, the Lord of All, giving up everything
to burn into us, His love can be relied upon to save us. But this love is to change us, transform us
into His children of love and righteousness and not stay in the death and hatred that sin brings us.

Foolishness - earning salvation or working salvation out

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling
13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
Phil 2:12-13

God desires righteous walking and doing His will.
Read every page of scripture, God creates a good work and men destroy, distort
and rebel against it.

And the solution is the cross, repentance and knowing the cross in our hearts.
We are not static, we are fluid because we have nothing to protect or be scared of.

Because Jesus has healed us, He has shown us where His heart lies, the heart of the
creator, so their is nothing to fear. We are on an adventure to discover His grace, His
love, His forgiveness, His power to overcome and walk in His ways.

Our hurt and conflict within, are the things that need changing, to listen and work with.
It is His word that comes us shows us where we need to move and grow in.

There will always be liars, cheats and sloths who just say give up, rest in your sin and
lostness, because that is our only hope, while they are literally dying in the sin they
dwell within.

You're right there is not sense in continuing to engage you since you cannot be honest and keep talking about some dude named Eisegesis.......bdee bdee bdee

I guess JESUS did not know what he was talking about either.........magic seed.....chunk it on the ground and POOF insta-fruit

Before you jump on the above I suggest a study of the word....

sar·casm

the use of irony to mock or convey contempt.
I am not arguing for instant seed. You are arguing for wheat that takes YEARS to grow. You said it takes a period of growth and maturity for a believer to bear fruit. That ammounts to instant maturity, unless you think a believer cannot bear fruit unless he or she has been saved for years

The Bible teaches neither

a. The Bible does not teach that it takes years for believers to begin to bear fruit. (and you said, direct quote, a period of growth and maturity is needed before a believer can produce anything.

b. The believer does not teach instant maturity.

Therefore you are false.

go find an apple tree that is about is tall as you are. bring it home, plant it. wait 1 full calendar year. see how many apples you will have.

* hint- you will not need a bucket.
I didnt know the parable of the sower was talking about apple trees.

Maybe you should go back and read the parable. Sounds like wheat or some other grain to me

Well I do not see that in the parable so you are adding to the text.

You said there is soil that is good by nature. The soil represents those who hear the Word. Again, saying the soil (hearer) is good by nature is beyond semi-pelagianism. At least they merely say that the person is neutral by nature. But they are neither neutral nor good by nature. By nature we are children of wrath. It is God's Grace that makes us amenable to the Gospel

Jesus's parable equates better to wheat and barley, ie grasses.
And the fruit they are talking about is words and convictions from the heart which come
as soon as someone is born again. One might even say the very confession of faith is its
first reality as this verse seems to imply

9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Rom 10:9-10

Also soil only needs to be treated when the nutrients are depleted, good soil is good soil, trust me I know.

ahh, the judgemental legalistic fruit expert is back.

wheat also does not grow overnight.
but, when you get proved wrong on fruit, jump to grain.

so, what's next? root vegetables ? ( they take time to grow too........)

Yes, and DC and GB9 say that it takes a period of growth and maturity to bear ANY fruit. Those exact words were spoken by DC and agreed to by GB9
