Nanabean, this is a first for me. After joining last night, I posted two messages and went to bed. This morning I found yours and would love to keep in touch. Don't really know how it all works yet.
Love the dog picture. Will try to send you a picture of my dog if I ever figure out how to do it.

Hi SewOld...first let me say I don't thing 67 is So Old......but I also did note the spelling of your nick, does this mean you like to sew?? I love doing crafts, enjoy sewing, counted cross stitch, ceramics and many others things. Maybe this will help us start up chatting?? haha Anyways..there are several ways we can chat to our hearts content. There is always the chat room(s) itself.."text only" may be a good one to meet in..(it's "safer" in there to learn the ropes!) or we can e-mail each other in cc chat....the forums seem to be a bit....I don't know....maybe not the place to "chat" so much?? anyways..if you get back to me...I am sure we can work something out. I am generally speaking a pretty private person so please don't expect all my info!!! hahha...I babysit for a living which sometimes gives me little snippets of time during the day, other times not, so I am hard pressed to tie myself down to a specific time....but we can figure it out as we go!!! Take care and God bless......nanabean

Nanabean,
You guessed the reason for my nickname, but not sure I understand yours. I have had a semi-sewing business in my home for years. Unadvertised except word of mouth and a small sign in the window of the breezeway that most people don't notice. Have done everything from doll clothes to wedding dresses but now prefer less stressful work. Mostly mending or easy alterations. Last week I made some curtains out of very unusual fabric. Slippery, shiny, stretch knit. Yuk! Since she is the daughter of a good friend I charged her $20 and I furnished the over-lock and sewing machine threads. (just enough to let people know that I don't make a habit of doing work for free, just cheap). I often make special requests like baby blankets, or corn bags for use in the mic or freezer. My preference would be to make a lot of gift type items and have a craft sale about once or twice a year.
The reason I don't is because my latest challenge is to clean house!!! After living in the same house for almost 45 years, I have accumulated a lot of JUNK that I don't even know I own. Does anyone really need 2 manicure sets and about 6 more fingernail clippers? Every closet, cupboard, shelf and drawer in the house is full. After being in the hospital and then rehab this summer, I promised myself to really tackle the job of getting rid of things. It would be terrible to die and make someone else do it. Since I started feeling better, I have gotten rid of a lot of stuff. Garbage, give away, or garage sale. Since the weather has been so beautiful, I have been washing windows instead of sorting this week. Since they are old-fashioned windows and hard to clean, I only can do two a day. At least the clean windows will make it easier to see what is being sorted. ;-)
My schedule is very flexible. I work around the house, sew, sleep, eat, etc. whenever I feel like it. After my husband went into the hospital and never came back, I eventually changed his sick room into a more convenient sewing room. It is the first time in my life I have ever lived alone, except for the dog.
She doesn't seem to have an opinion of my flexible schedule. Sometimes I go to bed early, sometimes late. Often wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake for an hour or two. It is a real blessing after years of being scheduled according to the needs of husband, children, or jobs. Today I had finished washing two windows including the blinds/curtains. My 19 year-old grandson called to ask if I could pick him up from work and take him to his apartment in a couple of hours. He apologized for the short notice. It was not a problem. I had time to take a shower and clean up first, but would have gone right away if necessary.
Hope this isn't too much personal information for you.
I thank God for the good day and plan to go to bed soon.

Hi I enjoyed reading you two chat. I'm not looking for dates. I spend time on different Christian sites praying for people. Sending Gods words back and forth. I like crafts also. I've been staying with my dad who has cancer. He will be healed in Jesus name. I have 2 grown children. 4 grandchildren. I went to a bar b q yesterdy at church for a young couple who are moving away. Next month some of us ladies in our bible study group are going to see Joyce Meyers in Denver, Col. Will be my first time to see her. Am looking forward to it. God bless you, love

Hi again SewOld, and Welcome loveschild,

My nick comes from two nicknames I've had in my past. Nana comes from the girls I used to work with at a fast food restaurant when younger, and the Bean comes from "Beannie" by when I was a kid. My family called me that, my dad in particular. Your sewing business sounds like my babysitting business in the way that you don't advertize except by word of mouth. I don't even have a small sign! hahahaa I agree with you on working with the kind of material you descibed...sounds frustrating to work with!! I don't sew alot, I actually prefer to do other crafts. Love homemade sewn items though!!! Same with crochet, and knit..love the items, just don't enjoy DOING them. I find I am too inconsistant with the tension of the stitches. Ummmm, What's a cornbag?? hahaha!!
I really hear you about needing to clean house! Same here! I notice there are "things" I just don't NEED anymore!!! Old childrens books, videos, magazines, etc. etc. etc. Some of them I can still use within my babysitting, but there are some that are outgrown by my own children (I have two girls ages 21 and 23) but are not the right age appropriateness for the ones I watch. Being that I do do quite a bit of crafts, myself as well as with the kids I watch, it is hard sometimes to get rid of stuff, cuz it may come in handy for that too! geesh.....double edged sword..crafting is!!! hahaha
My schedule is pretty flexible as well, but I am busy quite a bit of my time. Between the babys I watch, tending to my own family, keeping the house up, and trying to find time to visit "extended" family (which is very important to me too) I am hit and miss in here, but I do like to read posts, chat, and pray for others as well.
I need to go for now......God Bless....see you soon I hope!

Hi nanabean and sewold,
I haven't been doing crafts for a while. I like crochet. I used to decorate hats and make different things. I like painting, drawing. Don't have my own home anymore and feel out of place here. Keep thinking I need to get back to doing art which makes me happy. My dad has the news on all day long. Messes with my spirit. The Lord has been having a young lady at church on my heart. So I had to write a letter and take it to her. The Lord wants her close to him. I didn't know how to make the print bigger sorry. I know how to sew. Some of the last things I did was make baby blankets with lil pillows. Everyone said I should sell them. Those were out of material. I've always made crochet blankets. I'll do that again when the snow comes. My daughter has a make up business on line and sometimes I help her fill orders and make some extra money. She's gone today to a beauty school. Everyone was asking her friend about the makeup she wore and it ended up they wanted my daughter to go to the school and show her makeup. My daughter likes doing make overs. So the students bought makeup and wanted her back today. The Lord is blessing her. Have fun. God bless, love

Hi Loveschild,
Welcome. Just reading a few messages online before going to bed. It has been a LONG day. My youngest daughter and her family (husband and three children) arrived this morning from NY. They will be here a couple more days before heading back. The special blessing from this visit is that they are staying at a motel this trip. It is harder for me to "enjoy" having three small children underfoot since I spent a month in the hospital/rehab this summer due to back/leg problems. They spend time visiting other people each trip, and having time with them mornings only lets me rest later in the day. This morning we went to the apple orchard. I was really tired when they left right after lunch. Talk to you soon. God bless.

Nanabean,
I am so overtired my head hurts. My NY daughter and family will be here after breakfast. We might go to the local museum. There is an activity going on in that downtown neighborhood for the labor day weekend. Might not be able to get near it. Will have to figure out something else to keep the three children entertained for the morning.
Will chat more when my brain is rested.
God Bless

Hi Sew, I'm sorry your not feeling so good. I know how that is. Myself I'm always tired. I had Fibromyalgia for years(thats horrible pain, tiredness, can't think right). The Lord healed me where the pain isn't as horrble. Thank God. But being so tired is still with me. Back trouble, broken shoulder, arm gives me trouble. Then the other arm was damaged in a reck and it messes with me. But I don't give up. I'm happy you had your family with you. My daughter and her family came yesterday. Brought pizza. My son inlaw wanted to play 10 thousand. Thats some dice game. I was too tired. I'm just glad to see them. They live in the same village as me. My son lives 2 hours away. He comes to visit all the time. He just got a divorce. Don't know if the Lord wants them back together or not. Happy to be going to church tommorrow. I hope you feel much better real soon. Gods blessing to you.

Hello SewOld, nanbean, and loveschild!
What a blessing to read all your messages back and forth! I am disabled...going through something right now, they don't know what yet...so I am currently down in bed, but I WILL get better, this is just a dip right now. I sewed for fun, and family, and friends, and used to love doing variety of crafts. Last time I made something was maybe 6 months ago. I loved it, I know I will get back to it again! I have 4 grandkids, but all live so far away I rarely see them, but we keep in touch. My one son lives clear across the country from me in NY with his wife and 3 of my precious grandkids whom I adore! I have another son who lives in the same state as me, but far enough away I can't make it over there like I used to and they are both sooo busy and involved, and they have my other adorable grandchild whom I love dearly! I love being a grandma!!!!
I have firomyalgia and Sjogrens and severe migraines, and am right now on oxygen, and have been pretty much housebound for some months. I have a caregiver who comes three times a week, and now a lady who has connected with me from a church that comes to visit me once a week, what a blessing! I am desiring and praying for getting connected with people again, as I went through a long bout of depression after I lost my mom who lived with me, which made me isolate, but with counseling and the Lord, have, and am still making Great progress! I have come a long way.
I just got this computer from my sister and brother who live in other states, so all this is new to me. It is wonderful, I love it, and it is opening up a whole new world for me! What a wonderful blessing! Thank You Lord!!!
Anyone feel free to personal message me too! Love all of your spirits and stories! I am already a brand new member of CC, but found this when googling senior chat. God bless all of you! I just really love your spirits! :) :) :) Have a beautiful blessed day!

Hi you all. I found this thread & am wondering if there are any senior men that feel like discussing God's word - as far as I am concerned that is the only thing worth talking about. Fellows if you are out there say hi & if not I will continue looking. Carl.
