Here is how you would witness to your confused friends son. You can say, I would tick non binary cos I know In my soul, my innermost being, I am not male or female, Im a child of God and one in Christ. Are you?
The problem with your misconstruction of Gal 3:28 to fit a doctrine of lies promulgated by satan and his minions is that is not the point of the verse.

The point of Gal 3:28 is not that the male believer is not male or the female believer is not female after he/she is born again.

The point is that whether male or female, there is no preferential treatment between male or female. Both male and female are one in Christ Jesus.

If the point of the verse was that once a person is born again, he/she is no longer male or female, there would be no instruction in later writings concerning what the man is to do or what the woman is to do. But we do see instruction addressed to the male believer and we do see instruction addressed to the female believer in letters written by Paul to the church which were written later than Galatians.

Example: Galatians was written before Ephesians. Ephesians differentiates between the husband (man) and the wife (woman):

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

In the Greek, the word "husbands" is masculine and the word "wives" is feminine.

We are not to change the Word of God to fit some foolishness propounded by those who have been bamboozled into believing the lie of satan and say that Eph 5:25 means that the woman who "identifies" as a "man" (husband) is to love the man who "identifies" as a "woman" (wife).

In Ephesians 5:25 the husband is a man ... not a woman who "identifies" as a man.

In Ephesians 5:25 the wife is a woman ... not a man who "identifies" as a woman.

The world not liking this truth, and choosing to ignore this truth, does not change the truth of God's Word concerning the husband being a man and the wife being a woman.

To change the meaning of God's Word in Gal 3:28 to try to make it fit the parameters of the lie of the adversary results in confusion.

Is that resistance though. I dont think its a 'right' just a precaution. Having the armour of God doesnt mean you go on the offensive.
resistance isn't necessarily offensive. what's a shield for?

Just a reminder. I dont think the Bible ever mentions we ought to be physically armed. But spiitually armed with the sword of the spirit, which is the Word. We use this sword is a dividing sword though, cutting through to reveal the truth, its not used to kill people or to stab. Quite a different kind of weapon to guns.

Guns and bullet are basically an updated weapon of the old sling shot. Do we throw stones at others? Only if we are not without sin. I would be careful what words to use, even if its just idioms.
that's interesting, in that in Ephesians we're not described as having any projectile weapon, but the evil one does - fiery darts.

however:

Listen, O coastlands, to Me,
And take heed, you peoples from afar!
The Lord has called Me from the womb;
From the matrix of My mother He has made mention of My name.
And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword;
In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me,
And made Me a polished shaft;
In His quiver He has hidden Me.
(Isaiah 49:1-2)

this is the spirit of prophecy, which is the testimony of Jesus Christ.
may He make us His arrows, hiding us in His quiver, to let fly at His opportune time :)

Um ok interesting picture. I guess when some people say they are 'impacted' by the gospel they mean theyve been shot by a cannon ball or something? I dont know. It just made me think of a bombshell the way some say it.

I thought God was more meaning the spring forth and multiply kind of thing, go to the ends of the earth, bearing the gospel. Some christians claim quiverful means to have lots and lots of children.

I didnt say resistance was offensive. Its more defensive. Im sure you got my drift by now lol. Resistance is standing your ground. Example...if Israel had resisted idolatry, they wouldnt have been exiled.

Sorry that you seem to be. Besides people that dont marry arent husband or wife so they are neither.

As the church is going to be the bride, the lambs wife in revelation are we saying church is a woman? Thats where you kind of have to explain it. Maybe your attempts at trying to explain the gospel to your friend and friends son are failing because you just arent relating to them spiritually. You need to talk to them where they are at, not squash them in a box.

Its like women who get breast implants cos they think it makes them more feminie. The real issue is they are insecure about themselves. They will get it even if it costs thousands of dollars and even with the danger that they will leak and be detrimental to their health. Maybe they are basing their self worth on their outward appearance.

If we are one in Christ Jesus, isnt it good to affirm this regardless of what gender or race we are? I think so. IM just saying thats far more important than idenitfying what gender and race we are.

Being a woman in a mans world, and billions of woman can attest, its not easy, often made to feel inferior and like we got nothing of value to say.what about race. Well if you a minority you will always miss the priveliges that the majority enjoy. Also you get the bruntload of prejucice and racism.

But hey that is really nothing. What ive learned is that being a christian is the hardest and where you will encounter the most suffering, but also conversely, the most joy.

Abide in the vine.
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal.

Just to say that the idiom "to stick to your guns" simply means to remain determined, resolute, or steadfast in one's opinion, belief, or perspective; to refuse to be persuaded by someone else into believing or doing something one does not agree with.

Hope it helps. :)

Think about it in Revelation 19:19-21 those who received the mark and worshiped the image were spiritually dead already because of what they did. So you think the sword of the Lords mouth does not kill like guns but if they are already spiritually dead because they worshiped the image and received the mark then being killed only leaves physical death being accomplishd by the sword of his mouth.
The sword is an allusion to the word of God (see Eph_6:17; 2Th_2:8; Heb_4:12; Rev_1:16; Rev_2:12, Rev_2:16). From the Believers Bible.

Just saying. :)

I dont really like that idiom, but I kind of understand the meaning. Lol
Mostly because I dont have guns to stick to.

I was reading James chapter 4 again.

About resistance. It seems hes really talking about Israel succumbing to idolatry, the spirit that lusts to envy was the spirit of whoredoms they engaged in when they went astray from God. So if Israel had been singleminded and solely devoted to God, they wouldnt have made friends with the world.

And thus fallen into satans traps.

An example is a 'friend' i had who had a huge addiction to shopping. Or she claimed she was my friend. So whenver we went out, she always wanted to go shopping and encourgaed me to spend money I didnt really need to spend. But then try talking to her about spirital matters and shed just suddenly clam up. Try inviting her to fellowship and she would give an excuse. I really had to examine why she was friends with me. And we didnt go to the shops to buy gifts for other people, it was to indulge and consume on stuff we wanted. Ie, lusted after. One day God made me realise this as he made me very uncomfortbale to keep hanging out with her. So I would say no I dont have any money to spend we do something else, like go for a walk. This went on for awhile but the friend who had an insatiable appetite (she self confessed as ashopaholic and not ashamed of it) then whined to me dont you want to go out shopping like we used to? And i go no, Im not i to that anymore. Well she fled when she knew she couldnt use me as her addiction partner in crime anymore.

The only things I buy are food and other essentials. Apart from that I hate shopping, but a walk in the country does me the world of good, it lifts my spirits and I can meditate on the Lord. Anything else is of this world and I want nothing to do with it.

What does the Bible tell us about resistance, and how to resist? Any tips and how to put into action...in any situation?

Or do we just go through life never taking a stand about anything.
My answer is to follow that which is good and shun all else.

Correct ... people who are not married are not husband or wife.

However, XY is still a man even if he is not a husband and XX is still a woman even if she is not a wife.

I know who I am dealing with when it comes to my friend. She resists the gospel. Doesn't mean I'm not going to continue to tell her ... just means she may or may not become born again. Sad, really, because our relationship with God is so precious.

Same with the XY (males) who go through what they go through to "appear" to be XX, or the XX (women) who go through with what they go through to "appear" to be XY.

They have bought into the lie of the adversary ... swallowed it hook, line, sinker.

Only to go through what they go through (hormone treatment, surgery which mutilates their bodies, etc.) to eventually find that whether they were XY or XX was not the issue at all.

The issue is separation from God.

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Ok but what has that actually got to do with resistance. Why did you bring that up.
If they not born again christians of course they going to readily accept a lie. Cos they dont know how to resist and they dont know God. That doesnt mean you have to accept a lie, just declare the truth, and if they dont accept it, then thats just too bad. We cant stop others from being self deceived.

Some people actually want to be deceived. Theres a popular secular song that says 'tell me lies tell me sweet little lies' which is crazy, but this is how some people are. They dont want to know the truth. Give some people a test, like a breath test or drug test, and they will try to get out of it and deny they are drinking alcohol. Ive heard of people that get out of drugs tests by asking others who are clean to send in their urine samples instead. They just cant handle the truth! People cheat and lie because they think sin dont have any eternal consequences. Even if they are aware of them, they only think of the fleeting pleasure and self gratification of sinning.

I had this boss who cheated on his eye test, and his hearing test, and boasted to me about it.
It was sad. Why would he boast to me about cheating on a test?!

But thats how some people think. They think cheating people is a good thing. Well i learned to stay far far away from people who call good evil and evil good. Im sure if i stayed in that job my hearing would be totally damaged.

yes after i caught up on more of the thread i think i realized that you were saying resistance is primarily defensive. so, i was agreeing with that - in Ephesians 6 we have armor, and a shield -- these are all defensive armament. and we're told to put it all on in order to stand firm against attacks. we're also given a sword, which is different than a bow and a quiver of arrows ((or a modern gun)) -- it is both offensive and defensive. with a sword you can parry attacks and also strike.

Um ok interesting picture. I guess when some people say they are 'impacted' by the gospel they mean theyve been shot by a cannon ball or something? I dont know. It just made me think of a bombshell the way some say it.

But bombs arent very constuctive are they. More destructive. Unless they are seedbombs and you do guerilla gardening.

hmm i can't think of any examples of grenades in scripture. except rocks thrown from space? like, at Sodom & Gomorrah, or at the Amorites in Joshua 10. but that, like in Isaiah 49, is God doing the wielding and the aiming and the firing, not us. in Isaiah he calls himself an arrow, in God's quiver.
probably the most well known verse about arrows is in Psalm 127 -

Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat —
for He grants sleep to those He loves.
Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from Him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.
such arrows, it says, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. and it says, when we have a quiver full of them, we won't be put to shame when we argue in court. what are we talking about here? i mean, no one goes to court and says, well i have 4 kids, so.. and then the judge is like, oh my ok definitely your argument is right, in that case, the other guy only has one kid ??? and how is that like an arrow?
there is something about the experience of raising children, and the utility of having them with you, that is good preparation for making a defense, or for dealing with many metaphorical 'assailants' or 'accusers' at range. and this is something like what is spoken of in the first half of the psalm - something from God, something built on Him, something He gives, that He watches over.

But the Bible tells us to obey those who rule over us.
