As Moses in Deuteronomy was re-explaining of the "Mosaic Agreement", or "conditions for being and remaining blessed, BY God, (aka Covenant) in simpler terms, that everyone from Moses to the "dung carrier" could understand and follow?
ALL of these commandments were NOT LAWS at ALL!
They were CONDITIONS to abide by, IF the followers of these CONDITIONS wished to remain in God's good graces.
A "CONTRACT", if you will!
The list in chapter 22, deals for the most part in civil matters.
The PURPOSE of this was to: "so thou shalt PUT away, and KEEP evil from among you."
So, this list in chapter22 and elsewheres, are in the performing and the keeping a "PREVENTIVE MAINTAINENCE" program up and running, for some 3 1/2 - 5 MILLION people! (and growing!)
"A Primer", if you will!
So?
Civil? YES! Flesh? YES!
But, included therein, with more sinister serious Spiritual implications, and repercussions, in the matter of driving a wedge between "Church and State!" In the case with Deuteronomy, and elsewhere? Flesh and Spirit!

God bless you!
Are you saying that the commandments in Deuteronomy were not laws?

@Dan_473

Do you believe that these robes in these verses are cotton/polyester blend?

Revelation 6
11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Revelation 7
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

I betcha do doncha? ;)

And, if you don't?

Why should unmixed materials matter so much back in the days of Moses, and matter in the Kingdom to come. And not matter during these days?

Love covers a multitude of sin/s. INCLUDING the sin/s of not adhering to the "conditions" of the "Mosaic Agreement."

But, it don't cover EVERY "sin!"
I think almost all the events described in the book of Revelation are symbolic or metaphorical. So I don't think there were actual robes.

just like I don't think there is actually a large lady who is sitting on seven hills.

What! You don't think God has abandoned Homo-Sapiens and is going with Sheep and Goats?! C'mon! ;)

Greetings lightbearer,

Many will argue these points due to perspective. When one is into their "walk" the renewing of the heart and mind is underway! It is a blessed place as those who are underway and no longer kick against the Eternal and His will. Those however who are anchored at the beginning have not yet tasted of the "heavenly gift" and have yet to have the pleasure of your perspective.

The Law that was once antagonistic to us becomes a protagonist! No amount of words can change the perspective, only the Holy Spirit!

I would like to offer another verse to accompany yours above;

Exo 20:6 NIV but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Many, who have studied this verse see the similarities to John 14:21. there is also an interesting translation that sees the English translation like this;

Exo 20:6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love and keep my commandments.

Just a removal of the word "me" doesn't seem to diminish the sentiment at all, only enhance it.
How can you love God UNLESS he loved you first (in salvation) and how can you live out the love of God and not show obedience?

Greetings NayborBear!,

I will have a go at it:

Paul is quoting Moses as you said from;

Deu 32:16-22 NIV They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols. (17) They sacrificed to demons, which are not God— gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your fathers did not fear. (18) You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth. (19) The LORD saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters. (20) "I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful. (21) They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding. (22) For a fire has been kindled by my wrath, one that burns to the realm of death below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains.

If you Go to Genesis where Jacob reaches out to bless Josephs two sons Ephraim and Manesseh and after Joseph carefully places His sons so the elder son Manasseh is blessed with the predominant blessing hand of Jacob, Jacob crosses his arms!;

Gen 48:19-20 KJV And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations. (20) And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

Here’s the KJV plus Strongs Numbers:

Gen 48:19-20 KJV+ And his fatherH1 refused,H3985 and said,H559 I knowH3045 it, my son,H1121 I knowH3045 it: heH1931 alsoH1571 shall becomeH1961 a people,H5971 and heH1931 alsoH1571 shall be great:H1431 but trulyH199 his youngerH6996 brotherH251 shall be greaterH1431 thanH4480 he, and his seedH2233 shall becomeH1961 a multitudeH4393 of nations.H1471 (20) And he blessedH1288 them thatH1931 day,H3117 saying,H559 In thee shall IsraelH3478 bless,H1288 saying,H559 GodH430 makeH7760 thee as EphraimH669 and as Manasseh:H4519 and he setH7760 (H853) EphraimH669 beforeH6440 Manasseh.H4519

melo ha goyim“ is the Hebrew of the phrase underlined above.

This translates from Hebrew to English as; “The fullness of the Gentiles”

The "Fullness of the Gentiles" is the same as "The fullness of Ephraim"
The fullness of the gentiles is the fulfilment of Daniel. Not Ephram, where do you come up wiht this stuff?

The law of Moses had an expiratiom date built into it. It was only vaild until Jesus arrived, John the Baptiste ushering in His ministry.
After a quick peruse so don't take it as anything more,
I am going with it is/maybe civil law. It is placed after the rebellious son and property laws and it is listed under persons before women and men. Jesus did not specifically make mention of this law and so it would, I think, fall where all of the rest of the law of Moses did and those are on the 2 commandments which I am sure you know Love God with all that you are, and love your neighbor as yourself, and the spirit will lead you so what it means to you is something no one else can tell you..

The reason for the not mixing of linen and wool is very simple as linen is used of Divine righteousness (Rev 19) and not to be mixed with animal or fleshly labour. In my opinion, if I were you, I would never mix the two. To have a conviction of such as you do this, for what ever reason only the spirit knows, there is something. I myself would not question it much, but that is just me. I will not judge, just an opinion something of a study but I love my Bible. Oh, and I am not even going over it to see how it will be ripped up cause I don't care to change my beliefs because of a couple quick clips from man.
if you believe that the laws that Moses wrote down in the wilderness had an expiration date then it sounds like we are on the same page!

Almost all of the NT is rooted in the intricacies of the history of the OT. Without a working knowledge of these we can draw conclusions that miss the mark.

Even much of the OT relies upon other OT details to even come close to understanding what is going on.

I am convinced that God created our minds with the intent that our Faith and Spiritual wellness would be dependent upon our applying the logic and reasoning faculties He gave us. We must seek Him out!

For example; How would ;

Gen 9:22 KJV And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

relate to;

Lev 18:8 KJV The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.

and;

Lev 20:11 KJV And the man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

?

All of scripture, inspired by higher thinking beings than us, insists that we use the faculties given to us rather than accepting what other men have written down. :)

Getting off my soap box...:)

SG
Moses, Paul Jame all made it clear, Break one commands, Not obey every word. YOU ARE UNDER A CURSE.

The law can ONLY curse you, that was its intended purpose. To lead you to christ.

DeighAnn, may I ask you... what is your perspective on the usage of the word "restore," here (I bolded it in your post ^ )… is it your understanding that the person in need of this "restore" is one who has lost salvation [or perhaps even forfeited salvation, as some believe is possible (note to readers: not my view [regarding either of these two things as being possible])] and needs brought back to it? Or no? Something other than this? (Like, perhaps someone whose never even been saved yet? [I'm just trying to ascertain your view of what is being conveyed by this use of "restore" here]) … Just wondering. :)

[EDIT: perhaps I was thinking I was in a different thread, with a different OP title... my apologies]
No this has nothing to do with forfeited salvation, any salvation at all. It has to (thought I was in wrong thread)to do with exhibiting more brotherly love in the words and phrases that seem to instantly divide as oppose to bring together in understanding. Be they overt or covert. That was all. Maybe talking to myself a bit also.

I think of the verse which says we love BECAUSE he loved us first.

Is not the power of our love his love?

What! You don't think God has abandoned Homo-Sapiens and is going with Sheep and Goats?! C'mon! ;)
Nope, and in the same vein

Daniel 2: 44. In the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

in the days of those kings a kingdom was not set up that smashed the other kingdoms. And Nebuchadnezzar didn't rule over the whole world, people in China probably hadn't even heard of him.

Now, good gentilic believer/s?
I want you to "think" just what "fulness of the gentiles" could mean.
[…]

Romans 10
19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
To go along with my Posts #2932, #2933, #2934... both Romans 10:19 and Deuteronomy 32:21 use "a foolish nation [SINGULAR]"... and I point this out because I see a clear distinction between what is being said here in Rom10:19 [Deut32:21] and Romans 11:25 ["the fulness of the Gentiles"] from that which we see in Revelation 7:9 "a great multitude... of all the nations [plural]". There was a time when I wondered if "the fulness of the Gentiles" had to come at the later time period of the Rev7 context ("coming out of the great tribulation" [which I believe is the entire 2nd half of the future 7-yr trib, leading up to His Second Coming to the earth]), because Gentiles are still being saved then/at that time/at that point in the chronology... but then I realized that "UNTIL 'the fulness of the Gentiles' BE COME IN [G1525]" (and in view of the Rom9-11 context being "nations": "Israel [singular nation]" and "the Gentiles [plural nations]"; and "the Olive Tree"="God's governmental ways upon the earth") refers to a specific time period (once that is "fulfilled"... the "purpose realized"... "______[EDIT: content got nixed when I was prevented from posting... will try to edit to add the rest... (see below)]).

___________

NOTE: I blv the phrase "the FULNESS of the Gentiles" is distinct from "the TIMES of the Gentiles" which refers to that which started in 606bc, re: Neb's statue/image (with Neb as "head of gold"), referring to "Gentile domination over Israel," and which will run to the end of the trib at the time of Jesus' Second Coming to the earth, FOR the promised and prophesied earthly Millennial Kingdom (per Lk21:24b/Rev11:2)

Galatians 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

Obviously not.

Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

The question really becomes if you are still placing yourself under the weak and beggarly elements where you desire to be in bondage, have you EVER known God? Did you EVER come to the Lord Jesus to receive Rest from your work at the law?

If you had, what is the cause of your thinking that your work and understanding at the law is better than the Lords Work in you?

What is the cause of you thinking that it is the 10 commandments that are written in your heart and mind instead of the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus?

Is it just to fool people in order to initiate them into your religion?

Or do you truly just not know any better?

I assume the latter. I assume that 2 Corinthians 3 is in full effect and those who read the OT and don't understand what Christ has done and is doing for and in us still have the vail fully over their minds thinking that there is no way to receive Rest from working at the law.

Especially when the grave error is made that the Law of Moses is Gods Law. It certainly is NOT Gods Law. The Law of Moses is Commandments, commanding you to keep Gods Spiritual Law. Which in essence Commands this;

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

IF there could have been laws given that could have been the cause of your perfection then there would have been no need for Christ.

^ EDIT TO ADD to my post: [lost the middle section of my content]

….So, what we are seeing in Matt24:14/26:13; Dan12:1-4 [distinct from v.13]; Matt25:40; Rev7:3 [1:1 at the time of the 4:1/1:19c FUTURE aspects of the Book]; Matt22:8-14; Rev19:9 [distinct from v.7]; etc, is Israel doing the "INVITING" (OF the "Gentiles/nations [plural]") TO their promised and prophesied earthly Millennial Kingdom... this, after the "blindness... UNTIL" has been lifted [referring to the BELIEVING remnant of Israel IN the trib years [having come to faith WITHIN the trib years, FOLLOWING our Rapture/Departure]). They are not (in these contexts) being "provoked"...

Are you crossing the "times of the Gentiles" with the "fullness of the Gentiles"?
Same thing

When the time of the gentiles is ended, The time which was allotted to the gentiles has been filled (fullness) it is at that time, the prophets say Israel will repent, and as Jesus said, ALL Isreal will be saved, and they as a nation will truly be restored with Christ as her king.

The phrase "the TIMES of the Gentiles" is not to be confused with [what is often called] "the church age" ("this present age [singular]"). They are not the same thing.

[nor is "the FULNESS of the Gentiles" equated with "the TIMES of the Gentiles"... these are distinct things]
