That really hurt you. Do you feel bitter? A root of bitterness will kill you inside you know.
Unfortunately a truthful observation is not unloving, it is a diagnosis of need.
Yep

I am still with you. You had everything going for you, you were not thinking yourself a sinner.
God was a mystery.
I was seeking after God..... because in my rational mind I believed that if God was real, which I believed He was, He should be knowable... after all I knew Jesus had told his disciples that He would be with them always.... but Jesus did not seem to be with me.:(

I asked everyone I knew the meaning of life, yet no one had a satisfactory answer.

I was having the same discussion with many students, day after day, at school for hours people came and went, I skipped all my classes ... then a person lingering around the table and listening asked if he could join in, I said sure, soon as he sat down I knew he knew something I had yet to be told.

Remember Mr. FHS.... I was that person trying to be good to assure my salvation.
Still open Mr FHS?

Someone truly has got things mixed up if love becomes hate in someone else, especially
when talking about a follower of Jesus by another follower of Jesus.

Dear Lord, may you forgive these blind people who share such contradictatory ideas as
if they are speaking about your love and sacrifice upon the cross and deal so lightly with
those who love and honour your ways, In Jesus Christs name, Amen.

Not sure about the friend part, as my mom always taught me to choose my friends wisely.... Good advice I might add.

I am simplifying things a bit, since there were some other factors at play that were causing my desperate search but I amt so inclined to get into all the details.

Anyway... he explained "metanoia" ( the real metanoia, not contrition for sin) and not matter how sinless I thought I was I could never meet God's absolute standard.... the only thing I could so was accept by faith God's free gift of salvation earned for me by Jesus on the cross.

I knew what he spoke was truth... although I only understood in part.

People had been telling me all semester that I was overly concerned about salvation that I should just enjoy life and then here comes someone who tells me yes salvation/sin is absolutely a concern, but the problem has been solved.

Here I am thinking all these years I better be good and it was possible to be good to WOW.....I can never be good enough to merit salvation.

That Mr. FHS is a radical mind shift...have you had that radical mind shift?

not done yet...

A friend is someone intending good and not harm to you, so it is a pity you cannot regard me as a friend.
We can never be good enough for God. This is the gospel, we are sinners and fall short, Amen.
I would not be following Jesus if I did not know this reality.
Please continue.

No one can loose their salvation - i mean, they are already saved/ No one can loose eternal life - i mean it is eternal.
But the claims that you are already saved and already have eternal life means nothing. This claims will turn out to be a surprise to you.
No surprise to me. I trust Jesus Christ through and through and take confident comfort in His very explicit words. I am no different than anyone He spoke to when saying, “Your faith has saved you.” Ba da bing!

Life is great come look at the swimming pool

4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?
Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
James 4

25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.
26 What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what
can a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will
reward each person according to what he has done.
Matt 16

Being born again is rebuilding our whole life around Jesus and His word.
Nothing is off limits and nothing is too difficult or problematic to walk through and resolve.

Emotionally some of these issues are like explosives, unless the Lord heals and resolves nothing
will save our souls from destruction and a great collapse.

Repentance is the beginning of reconciliation, but if we are not reconciled when the Lord comes
to see what we are, it will just be a broken vessel that does not work, nothing there.
So many hold their lives together and fear the pressure openness will create if they let go.
Unfortunately we need the Lord love ruling in our hearts or else we have nothing but our life
history to cling on to, and before the Lord, even that will be taken away.

Jesus is more than a swimming pool, He is the eternal King of all, worthy of praise and worship,
Amen

This is where there are two different issues. I can walk away from Jesus, a free choice but in another sense I never
can because it is so insane. Without the choice there is no love or Kingdom or reality.

I know many people who have left the faith, go astray, who may never have truly believed, or believed and
now are compromised. You cannot have free will and rebellion and forced salvation. It simply does not
work. And I understand why EG is as he is, it is no surprise, but I can never agree.

My life is founded on the power of love, righteousness and truth, built on the sermon on the mount, the
words of Christ. You cannot have Jesus and salvation without the ability to destroy that which is true.

God and the world testifies to the reality God allows and desires everything plays out to the end.
You cannot have Holy Spirit filled believers in full rebellion against God. That is Korahs rebellion and
it will be destroyed. It is this simple, so matter how much people want compromise and God is so
caring, the weakest faith will be respected eternally.
Walking away from salvation is not losing it, it is forfeiting it. That is a cosmic difference. As a man, to me, the ability to walk away from salvation seems logical, however God’s ways are not our ways, and God remains faithful even when we do not.

Surprise is a guarantee my friend. The first shall be the last and the last shall be the first. It will not go the way you have been taught.

Matt 25:
37“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
....
44“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

Even as per prophesy:

Isa 65:
1I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me;
I was found by those who did not seek Me.
To a nation that did not call My name,
I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am
!’

2All day long I have held out My hands
to an obstinate people,a
who walk in the wrong path,
who follow their own imaginations,

You have turned a man's understanding to be your assurance.

Get behind me, Satan. One does not have to work for salvation. Jesus Christ’s promise of guaranteed salvation via grace through faith is clearly demonstrated throughout Scripture. What don’t you understand about that?

Come here you angel.

Matt 24:13But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.

This is Jesus' promise, i think you just misunderstood. It is all over the scripture:

Rom 5:
6For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7For rarely will anyone to die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! 10For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! 11Not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Rom 13:11And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

You talk as if you are speaking with authority. I listen to Jesus. Peter when he was going to deny Jesus
what did Jesus say

32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you
have turned back, strengthen your brothers
Luke 22

20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith.
Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
Rom 11

6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers;
such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
John 15

People who do not know the full depths of repentance in Christ, of working through everything
they are in Him, do not understand what rejecting Christ really means. Such a fleeting thing,
a vague understanding of love and how great Jesus is, a gift given and then fading away into
blackness.

Jesus can just tweak it and it is fine, no problems, we are not dramatically lost in
need a being totally rebuilt. We are safe in Him, He gave such great promises to help support
our faith, and stay exactly were we are before life knocks us over too much.

Bit strong. If someone quotes scripture especially Jesus judging people on their actions of love,
helping the needy and the homeless, one has to take notice. This is Jesus talking.

Unless you put ones response into context one is blaspheming Christ.
Now it is no coincidence those who have a closed heart and find repentance and working through
our behaviour and hearts not relevant are also very quick to use spiritual fighting language inappropriately.
At worst God will just tell them off, at best, it will just be ignore as trying to do something in Christ.

God regards such behaviour not of the Lord as worthy of death.
And actually rebelling against Jesus, a field sending off offence not sent to the lake of fire.

How is it language of ultimates, heaven and hell, salvation and judgement becomes I am ok, and you
are this devil in human form. Imagine if God behaved like this or gave children of Him real responsibility
and power to judge. It would be chaos.

How many have contemplated death row and killing an innocent. This is much worse and on the basis
of sharing a few verses on a discussion board on the internet. This is how far off some are, literally.

I think I know what you mean and I am not arguing the concept; except I think your word choice is poor -- I would say our part is to believe.

For me at least, "believe" has a very different feel than "accept."

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
Acts 16:31 They replied, "Believe in the LORD Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household
Anyone can "believe" in something. I believe in certain things I see but that doesn't mean I accept them. Of course of one accepts Jesus Christ, they would have to believe He exist. Acceptance is the key word for me in the process of salvation.

Amen! That salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works is not hard to understand. It's just hard for certain people to ACCEPT. It's a shame that human pride will not allow works-salvationists to accept the free gift of eternal life. Their hands are full of their works and they will not let go in order to receive Christ through faith.

Over and over in my devotions I read about people trying to do good works enough to wipe out their sins. No way can any of us do enough good works to cleanse ourselves.

How does that relate to what Noose wrote?
What he was hinting at seemed to be that the unsaved will receive grace on judgement day also and that was explained to he as hypergrace when I joined here. I never heard of it before so I asked somebody what it meant.

I never heard of Calvin before I joined here either.
