I know. I copied and pasted from your post. Its in blue so you would know it was your question.

I was really curious what the response would be. But looks like he ignored it.
Yes, just like he is ignoring the question about how my faith in christ builds up the law (establishes it)

I didn`t notice the question. But why ask a question you already know the answer to? Easier to ask questions then to do your own work?
Because we want to know what you think so we can properly converse with you instead of assuming

Why is the question so hard?

Go back and read this thread, it seems to be a habit of those who want to tell people the law is still to be held even today by all people. That the schoolmasters job is not yet done even in people it led to christ

They refuse to answer easy, simple direct questions

Then ask yourself why is this so? And why is it only this particular group of people. What are they hiding?

my comment in ( )

Isn't someone who has attained Righteousness someone who ALREADY upholds the commandments of Christ?

(No)

Someone who desires to uphold Christs commandments and still needs instruction in Old Testament Law is someone who still hasn't attained to the Righteousness which is found in the faith of Christ.

(Paul taught a lot of Old Testament doctrine in the epistles. Unlearned Christians just don`t realize it)

Of course, how do you teach someone who thinks he already knows? Its the reason why Christ said you have to come to Him as a little child, not knowing anything. Because, in reality, we don't know anything when we come to Christ.

( My Bible says to study to show myself approved.)

Moses wasn't a very good representative of Christ but he was necessary.

Slaves need the whip, they need the rod. And children need to know that its there. That Dad will use it when necessary.

In my opinion...
Amen

Moses should give us joy, that god can use such people, it hsould give us all hope, not fear.

Uphold is a word that could be used.

i.e. Someone who has attained Righteousness will desire to uphold the commandments of Christ and will not resent Old Testament scriptures that are profitable for doctrine and instruction in righteouness.
This is not what the passage says, it does not even insinuate,

And as i showed you in the greek, the word uphold is no where to be found, nor is it even anything that can be used in that word.

thus that is a faulty interpretation.

But if thats what you want to live by, thats on you

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Uphold is grandpa`s word not mine. I accepted it because the meaning of the word works but I usually just stick to Bible words myself. Grandpa is the one you should be talking to about use of this uphold word.

True, but people interpret it differently.

Lets get to the bottom of this

In rom 3- the word used is histemi

Defenition gave above....

The word uphold is found in 1 thess 5: 14

In the greek the word is
antecho

ἀντ-έχω or ἀντ-ίσχω: f. ἀνθ-έξω: aor. 2 ἀντ-έσχον:—to hold against, c. acc. et gen., χεῖρα ἀντ. κρατός to hold ones hand against ones head, so as to shade the eyes, Soph.; c. dat., ὄμμασι δʼ ἀντίσχοις τάνδʼ αἴγλαν mayst thou keep this sunlight upon his eyes (al. off his eyes), Id.
II. to hold out against, withstand, c. dat., Hdt., Thuc.; πρός τινα Thuc.; c. acc. to endure, Anth.
2. absol. to hold out, stand ones ground, Hdt., Att.: to hold out, endure, last, Hdt., etc.; of the rivers drunk by the Persian army, to hold out, suffice, Id.
III. Med. to hold before one against something, c. acc. et gen., Od.
2. c. gen. to hold on by, cling to, Hdt., Att.:—metaph., ἀντ. τῶν ὄχθων to cling to the banks, keep close to them, Hdt.; ἀντ. ἀρετῆς, τοῦ πολέμου Id.; τῆς θαλάσσης Thuc.
3. absol. to hold out, Soph.
4. c. dupl. gen. pers. et rei, ἀνθέξεταί σου τῶν χρημάτων will lay claim to the property from you, dispute it with you, Ar.

As you can see, they are not even the same word. And do not have the same meaning

I hate to do it but let`s use another translation. King James is to hard for you.

Romans 3:31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.
That was you.

This was the KJV;
Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

It says your faith does not nullify. The Law/Torah was established by God. You cannot establish the Law by faith or any other means.

The second part of the verse "we uphold the law" is an affirmation of something that already is in force.

Your question is a reference to some kind of false doctrine I suspect.
Sorry, but this is your post not grandpas

you used the word in your post, you used the word in your interpretation used.

And as i just prove, that particular interpretation is in error

It`s an affirmation from Paul that studying and learning from the Old Testament is a good thing not a bad thing. Really, there isn`t a whole lot else to say about it.

Ok, my mistake. You are correct. It`s a copy of the verse from the NIV which is known for errors. I used it because you boys seem to have a hard time understanding King James. Sorry I didn`t recognize it at first.

The word I would use is establish which is what`s in the King James.
