Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:16-18

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

What is meant by the words against such (the fruit of the Spirit in evidence in our lives) there is no law and if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law???
Jesus told us the law and the prophets hang on love. Love is the law.
The fruits of the spirit therefore meet all the requirements of the law of Christ, which is written on our hearts so that we are not separated from it.
That is why I think it is unwise for us to think the law no longer applies. If it did not God would not have written His law on our heart so that we would never be far from it.
Indwelling Holy Spirit God leads us through His law unto righteousness. And while doing good works, good things, in the name of Christ will not save someone, those good deeds, works, good things we do being led to by Holy Spirit God, are our fruits, and the result of being saved in the spirit.

That is what I said in the thread you mention and indeed I posted pages of scriptures that showed God was there with the Israelites in the OT. What changes in the NT is that the Saviour paid the penalty of sin on our behalf, making the law obsolete, but still we need to come to God in faith believing. That has not changed.
There is a difference in saying the Old Testament is obsolete and saying the law of God is obsolete.
Moses' law was the ceremonial law. Temporary until the coming of Messiah. That was the law that was nailed to the cross.
God's law is not obsolete. God said He would write His law on our hearts so that we would not be separated from it.
If the law of God was obsolete, God would not have done that and in both the Old and New Testaments.
The Book of Hebrews chapter 10:16 "This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the LORD. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds."

The Book of Jeremiah chapter 31:33 "This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets (Matt 22:37-40) ..,

what "law" applies? ... what "law" are we not separated from?

The law of love, the spirit of the law of God,that which offers us direction in our daily lives, that is written in our hearts.

Please, why is that so? In your opinion.
Harden your hearts = freewill. Eve exercised her freewill when she turned from the LORD.

2 Kings 17:13-14
Yet the LORD warned Israel and Judah through all His prophets and every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments, My statutes according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you through My servants the prophets." However, they did not listen, but stiffened their neck like their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God.

2 Chronicles 30:8
"Now do not stiffen your neck like your fathers, but yield to the LORD and enter His sanctuary which He has consecrated forever, and serve the LORD your God, that His burning anger may turn away from you.

2 Chronicles 36:15-16
The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place; but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, until there was no remedy.

Nehemiah 9:16-18
"But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly; They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments. "They refused to listen, And did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You had performed among them; So they became stubborn and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt But You are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness; And You did not forsake them. "Even when they made for themselves A calf of molten metal And said, 'This is your God Who brought you up from Egypt,' And committed great blasphemies,

Psalm 95:8-11
Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness, "When your fathers tested Me, They tried Me, though they had seen My work. "For forty years I loathed that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways.

Jeremiah 7:25-26
"Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent you all My servants the prophets, daily rising early and sending them. "Yet they did not listen to Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck; they did more evil than their fathers.

Jeremiah 19:14-15
Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD'S house and said to all the people: "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, 'Behold, I am about to bring on this city and all its towns the entire calamity that I have declared against it, because they have stiffened their necks so as not to heed My words.'"

Ezekiel 2:3-4
Then He said to me, "Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day. "I am sending you to them who are stubborn and obstinate children, and you shall say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD.'

Acts 7:51-52
"You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did. "Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become;

Acts 19:8-9
And he entered the synagogue and continued speaking out boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. But when some were becoming hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the people, he withdrew from them and took away the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.

Hebrews 3:8
DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME, AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS,

Hebrews 3:13-19
But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end, while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME."

Hebrews 4:7
He again fixes a certain day, "Today," saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS."

Revelation 9:20-21
The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts.

John 8:44 You belong to your father the devil, and you want to carry out the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and has never stood for truth, since there is no truth in him. Whenever he tells a lie he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies.

Mat_23:31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

Luk_11:47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

Rom_11:3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

1Th_2:15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

Two laws. We need to follow the law of love and not the Mitzvot Laws of the Old Testament.

Then did God make a mistake? Writing His laws on our hearts so that we would not be far from them? When we are His redeemed through Christ.

This is why our Lord Jesus is the second Adam, because He took away the sins of the world. Adam's actions let Sin enter. Adam. Not Eve.

After they had fallen, they hid from God. And then when God found them, because they could not actually hide anywhere their Creator would not know they are, Adam blamed Eve for his fall.
12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

This place was God's creation. Do you really think a serpent could enter into paradise and the Omnipresent Creator of it would not see?

Serpents do not talk. This is allegorical.

12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”
Adam placed blame wherever he could ... even pointing at God:

He blamed the woman ... "The woman ... she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate"

He blamed God ... "The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate"

We haven't changed much over the millennia since Adam uttered those words ...

Jesus was God.
The Book of Hebrews chapter 8:10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the LORD. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
The Book of Hebrews chapter 10:16 "This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the LORD. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds."

(Jesus said)The Book of Matthew chapter 5:18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

There is the law of God
And there was the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses was nailed to the cross, that was the ceremonial law. The law of God was not.

An ass spoke to Baalam!
Who do you think is in control
The creator can cause the rocks to cry out!
Allegories are simply parables.

So back to Baalam's Ass. In Hos 4:12 we read, "My people seek advice from their wooden idols, and their rod declares to them. For the spirit of harlotry has caused them to go astray, and they have gone lusting away from under their God."

Idol worship was rife among the Israelites, and whether the idol was wood, stone, gold or animal, each idol had its prophets who spoke on behalf of idols, and so it was with Baalam who caused a stumbling-block to be cast before the children of Israel, causing them to fornicate etc.
