Well I am sad you do not see it, because the book of Hebrews will really open up once one understands that author is addressing believers who were facing extreme persecution and they were willing to abandon and did abandon the sacrifice of Jesus for the old.

hebrews was written to not only address false teachers, but to expose them, and also attempt to keep others from being led astray. As all books in the NT were written

they were never saved, and stayed unsaved

tbeir true faith was in the law, its why they went back

they never fell away, that was a question if they fall away (if it were possible) they could never be renewed. And even the thought that salvation can be lost (which the law says) puts Christ to shame

I have a very hard time seing them as lost due to the fact the writer of Hebrews calls them Brethern no less than three times....if they were lost I cannot see him identifying them as brothers.

I did not say that at all, friend, that all people who go to church are saved.

Understanding Hebrews really strikes a chord with me for personal reasons, I am a very even tempered, very calm person so I do not want to go over the edge, so let us not discuss it further.

The Galatians were saved, yet they turned back to the law of "days and months and seasons and years" for justification (Galatians 4:10) and fell away from Christ. How does that align with what you have stated above?

It does not mean they lost salvation....the verbiage indicates they had turned from grace to an inferior position......they are called foolish and ONLY the peddlers of said dogma are double cursed!

He is talking about a particular group of people in that passage, he never called them believers or bretheryn

out pastor calls us all brothers and sisters it does not mean everyone sitting in the pews are saved

Paul wrote to believers, yet we know there were also unbelievers In all his letters

all the letters have a message for believer and unbelievers like

They were saved alright ... that is why the letter was written.

Just because the author uses more elaborate language does not mean he is describing unsaved Jews.
This is a description of people who have some to know and accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

We cannot liken this to modern day churches... these people who converted were under intense persecution.... no one was going to pretend to be saved.

Hebrews 6... Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,[a] and of faith in God, 2 instruction about cleansing rites,[b] the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so.

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6

I know.... the reason is because that way they can argue they were never saved..... but it is not necessary to take that approach to hold to eternal assurance of salvation.

he is warning people not to-return to law

under law a person had to be re-saved, (sacrifice had to be given once a year at the least)

So to say salvation can be lost (return to law) is to put Christ to shame
