Actually I was thinking of Sullivan Tennessee, not Sullivan Missouri. Just a stab in the dark at why he's so angry all the time. I've worked with many military at their lowest points. I hope he'll be okay.

I doubt it. All the jabs you have been taking show your character more than this attempt at damage control.

Calling him the mentor of people who have followed Christ for decades before even joining this site, saying he is afraid of you (Lol), suggesting he drinks on at least 2 occasions...

I think you hope you're good enough to earn salvation, but I doubt you are hoping anything good for dcon.

How does someone surrender theirs lives to God "good enough?" Surrender doesn't leave alot of room for interpretation. Either a surrender is being performed or it's not.

And your wrong about dcon. Just like I have the ability to be disrespected, misrepresented, called names, and still attempt to show him and others the stumbling block. I also have the ability to care about him while he's doing those things.

If your reading this dcon, I apologize for the drinking comment.

A doctrine that devalues Christ is upsetting to many of us for various reasons.... it less personal than you realize.

He can't be any more devalued than to say " I can receive His Spirit by just believing in His words and promises."

I'm glad Christ didn't practice that kind of Faith, He would of never had to do anything but " believe"! And we never would have had unmerited favor given to us , " Grace."

Are you born again?
Have you trusted Jesus for salvation?

Pisteuo, please answer this for me. :) You DO know that we are saved by belief and faith in Jesus, through His grace? Is that correct? So why would "believing in His words and promises" devalue Him, when He tells us that whoever believes on Him shall be saved?

I know what I'm putting on the table makes people uneasy, and causes some grief. I acknowledge the latitude you've given me and I appreciate it. I hope it helps someone at some point.
You cheat yourself of the peace and grace of Christ

You do not even know if you are saved yet....that is tragic

Sure BL

No , NOT the way you described it.

My understanding is we are saved by Grace through Faith. Grace is what the Faith of Christ attained, unmerited favor for mankind. " Through Faith " is our response to the gift of Grace or unmerited favor. The response is Not believing in Him for salvation! At the start, we haven't received the Grace deposit ( The Spirit of Christ ) yet, do Christ, His word, and the promises in His word are not ours yet either. The correct, NT, response is a Continually surrendered life that results in recieving the Spirit of Christ. Only at this point can we be legitimate claimers of any of God's word and promises.

So the devaluation happens when His called out ones claim His Spirit, Him, and His word and promises before they have yet to even fulfill an initial act of pisteuo or a genuine surrendered life.

Did I explain this okay? Ask more questions.

I don't care about my own Salvation. I care about others, that would be you included.
Why don’t you care about your own salvation?

What exactly are you doing for others, so they can be saved? Are you implying they’re lost until you show them?

Okay, the part in red is correct. :) But the very nano-second that we believe on Jesus, is when we are saved. Grace is what God extends to us because He knows that we are sinners and need a savior, hence why He sent Jesus to die to save us from our sins..

IMO, Jesus is de-valued when we DON'T trust in him for our salvation. He is de-valued if we try to add works to salvation in order to maintain it.

This is my understanding, anyway. :)

There's no such thing as believing in God's word for salvation.

Salvation comes from responding to the call of the Father by Faith. By Faith is comunicated to us by the Greek word pisteuo. Pisteuo is a personal surrender to Him and a life inspired by such surrender.

So Grace only benefits us by a Continually surrendered life, that has been accepted by God and sealed with the Spirit of Christ.

NT Faith or pisteuo is 3 parts to it. It's an act, ( starts by a genuine surrendered life). Based upon a Belief, ( that He will accept the surrendered life). Sustained by confidence ( which is trusting that he will keep, maintain, and complete the surrendered life.

NT Faith or pisteuo is not trusting God for salvation.

If you do not know, care about or have experienced your own salvation and all the understanding that brings you are not in a position to reach others.

Jesus accepts those who trust/believe in Him for salvation
