This and a similar council also voted on whether Jesus was in fact Deity. Are you kidding me? No wonder we are missing Books, some don't even think Jesus was God...smh

There is no way these men were Holy Spirit inspired. When you question who Jesus was/is and you question who He quotes, these men should have been dragged around by their horses till their death!

We aren't an occult or cult, we are Children of the Living Most High God. And we have a history with God that proves what God has handed down to His Chosen People. Who then is it for man to know better than God? When did God ever need man's approval or counsel or to format a council concerning God? In my opinion, if Jesus, Who is the WORD, quotes someone, that should be a no brainer that material should also be good enough for me. Therefore, shame on the council.
umm

I don't believe I wrote anything that engendered this response

I think you just climbed back into your buggy and told the horses giddy up again

and for the record, I did not say anything about Christians being a cult, but cults exist and wave Bibles at everyone...not to mention their 'extra extra read all about it' addendums to actual scripture ;)

I don't think you actually gave my post much consideration but that's fine

are your pants on fire or what?

everyone questions who Jesus is at some point and even Christians do so sometimes

you do make it seem like God stood by wringing His hands when the canon was closed

I doubt it

do carry on ... but don't get run over by your own momentum

we are not on the same page...but we do have the same book...not salvic issues and it does not seem you actually wish to discuss so much as to persuade

have fun with that

I never read in any language we can find the Gospels where the Father asks the Pharisees to decide if they think Jesus was really His Son. Who does this council think they are? God did not ask them to do this nor did He need them to do it!

If we see throughout the 4,000 Biblical history where God does not seek a council of men to decide what of His is good or not, why do we think the council who chose our 66 Books was Blessed by God?

I just don't understand if God "never" asked for man's help in a form of a council in the 4,000 year Old Testament, why did man think God needed help 3oo years after Jesus Ascended. Someone was not paying attention and played god for themself!

Anyone is welcome to show me where I am wrong. Had it not been for this council formatting creeds, formatting which Book is Godly or not, we WOULD NOT have Denominations today. We would be ONE BODY, the Church. This is how I know this council WAS NOT FILLED with nor led by the Holy Spirit!

This council destroyed the UNITY of the Apostle's message and the Church Fathers who followed. Today, we have hundreds of Denominations. The only thing Constantine accomplished was to SPLIT us and TEAR us apart!

Look at this website. Hardly anyone agrees on any one thing.

So show me where I am wrong in what I am stating here, I implore you!

When people went to Peter complaining about Paul. Peter rebuked them. Today, it's backdoor and destroy them. We are nothing like we should be!

it would help if you would quote who it is you are responding to

I've been in church my entire life and have yet to see this big agreement you seem to think the Apostles had

better read the NT again if you think the Apostles were one big happy family

do you think we would have the Bible in the form or any form for that matter, today, if nothing had been done?

your belief is that the Bible is missing books....but I already said that anyone can read whatever they want and those books are available but for that matter, we can speculate there are others that have never been found or known about by people here and now

no one is going to convince you that you are wrong and vice versa

how many people have you already tried to convince of what you are speculating here?

I more or less want to know if Believers today, who can see there was never a council of men set-up to vote on what God did and if it was worthy or not all throughout the Old Testament (4,000 years), why do you accept a council of men less than 400 years after God in human form Ascended?

If God is the same YESTERDAY, TODAY, and TOMORROW, and He had no council of men to judge His Words, Commands, Himself, why did men think suddenly God has changed His mind around the 4th Century?

Where did I deny those 66 Books? They are definitely God-inspired. My point is there were more than just those 66 Books that were inspired. Why did God let Joshua and king David use Jasher but it is not good for us? Why does God Himself quote Enoch but a council thinks God is off His rocker by denying Enoch, even Jude quotes him. I am just saying there were more than 66 Holy Spirit inspired Books. Shame on the Council for removing them!
are you on switch hunt where did I say you said that? Maybe if you are not so confrontational you would not assume one said something they did not. my point the books are inspired not because Man said so, they are inspired because God ensured they would be. man issue is learning which is and is not inspired. I think and I could be wrong, many will not say that; there are ways to limit and look for truths that illuminate the inerrant word of God. One must build on what we know to be true from the start.

  • the first five books of the law
  • The Major & Minor Prophets
  • the genealogies
  • New Testament Eye Winesess account The Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John.
  • The book of Acts and the Pauline Epistles do not take away from the others.
To say something other than what we know to be the "inspired word of God", how did one come to the conclusion they were inspired?
That is a presumption to say "They are definitely God-inspired". How did one come to the understanding?

In reality, God meant for everything written to be available for ALL to view. It was man, Not God, who decided otherwise. And to be even more clearer, it was a PAGAN MAN who decided as such!

I absolutely agree. But if we read that Joshua and king David read the Book of Jasher, that would seem to me that it was also inspired by God. Or, if Jesus quotes Enoch, the things that he wrote must be also inspired for God Himself to quote it.

Do you think God would quote something not inspired of God?

I don't!

well I guess you are replying to me...please use the quote feature or at least @ then the person you are addressing. thanks

when I was saved at 5, I didn't know a thing about councils or the Bible itself. I just learned that Jesus died for me and I should accept Him as my Savior and after consideration, I did, alone in the living room of my parents home. sometimes I wish I knew less then what I do know because the less would be how Christians USE God for some of the evil they do...at least they think they speak for Him...and I would also know less about how active the devil is in this world

that's right. God has never changed but that does not mean that as Christians we act like the Israelites did in the OT and start killing all unbelieving nations. God does not change, but we don't know and we have not experienced, what it was like to be sinless and childlike before God and not constantly questioning. we do not really know how very far it is we have fallen... do people consider that God never said He will restore us to who we were before the fall on this earth in this plain of being? some seem to think they have come into perfection on this earth and they are the most obnoxious among us!

do you think people cannot know God and be led by His Spirit without the other books?

I honestly just do not agree with how stressed out over it all you seem to be...
