The prophet is nothing.

The Lord is everything, and His voice is His, and He speaks as He desires.

One cannot be a prophet until they learn that they are nothing, and that Jesus is everything.

And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: .....................................

Seems that the Lord does speak destruction to the church, unless we think that being spit from His mouth speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation

Hmmm.............in Christ
We went through that whole thing concerning the Laodicean church and what the Lord had against them being lukewarm. But you refused to hear anything on that matter because you were so oriented in being bent against anything that is said contrary to what you claim the Spirit reveals to you. You never take into account the fact that others who have been purchased by the blood of Christ also have the Spirit and you make these broad sweeping statements about the church and body of Christ without even knowing what God is doing in the local assembly in other parts of the world. That makes your statements and prophecies presumptuous and presumption is a great transgression (Ps 19:13) and when you claim they come from God that makes it even worse.

You have no respect for the fact that God is able to deal with believers as they judge themselves, and God would have us do that through mercy and grace and not some program of probation through hard repentance. You also refuse to acknowledge the whole counsel of God and when others bring that up to bring in a balance you become very critical with your puffed up words and scoff at those that would even consider such a thing. Sometimes you know nothing as you ought to know and that's the time you ought to humble yourself and listen to others that have received the grace of God and I am talking about the uncomely parts of the body that need to be given more abundant honor because the comely parts do not need it (1Cor 12:23,24).

You may have your favorites on this site that coddle to you and your gift and have no discernment because they lack sound doctrine and have a very limited experience in the body of Christ and sound teaching that comes from a pastor-teacher that God has raised up in the church. That is the kind of thing that makes God sick to His stomach and want to spew those who are wishy-washy, hot and cold like tepid water. They are double-minded and insecure with those that might have authority in the church that was given to them by God through grace. They are the ones that esteem the gifts above the Giver and accuse those that love and esteem the written word of God as idolaters. They are the ones that put the gift of tongues on a pedestal and substitute certain gifts for hearing the word of God preached from a real man of God. So, there it is!

God's Grace is supreme.

Gifts are not for the believer, but for the edification of the church and to bring more people into the Body of Christ. In the old testament prophets always spoke of two visions:

1. If they repent this will happen (blessings and abundance)
2. IF they do not this will happen (condemnation and trials)

I don't know Red, I tend to coddle everyone unless I think they are vipers and I don't get that from VW.

I don't know i'm going through some personal things right now, but I will pray for you both. May God bless the seeking and the learning and the understanding of His HOLY Word. We should all study the Bible daily with a open heart and mind geared towards instruction.

We need to focus on the bonds that we share, and not build dividing walls between our brothers and sisters and ourselves.

Proverbs 15:32
He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding.

Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to words of knowledge.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (New King James Version)

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Galatians 5:16-26 (New King James Version)

Walking in the Spirit

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[a] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

There have been conversations on this site that you know nothing about and it would be best to refrain from getting involved. But if you are like LBG, he will say whatever he wants and purposely does not honor any request he doesn't feel like and he meddles in matters that do not involve him. He likes to speak for others that he feels can not speak for themselves and takes away their individuality as a believer-priest when doing that. But that is what independent believers are like and you better not oppose them or say something they don't like because you will be in for 1,000 questions that you better answer or else.

Dear sister,

you say what the Lord leads you to say. There is no conflict on my part with Red. I have no answer for him.

You have the Spirit, and He knows the truth of us all. I know that I am a sinner, and I will not hide that from God. His love is enough for me, and the fellowship of His sufferings.

In Christ and in His love,

Three agree. I do not believe there is such a thing as a modern day prophet.
I said I do not think the prophesy at the top of this thread is verbatim from Jesus Christ. I did not say I do not think the gift ministries (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers) are no longer around. I believe the gift ministries function today, and are very necessary. I also believe in, and practice, the manifestations of holy spirit, one of which is prophesy.

And PaulnSilas, just because prophets is mentioned second does not mean it's less important than apostles. Something had to be second, third, etc.

God bless.

thank you Shroom :) and here is some more of God's word for the people of God. With out LOVE all the spiritual gifts in the world are worthless. GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON!!!! Praise be to God! Hallejuh! :)

1 Corinthians 12:28-37 (New King James Version)

28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the best[a] gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 13

The Greatest Gift

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Once again, we have a "prophet(ess)" speaking the words of israel's prophets, and proclaiming them to/against Christ's Church.

John the Baptist spoke those words TO THE PHARISEES, whom he, coming in the spirit of ELIJAH, called VIPERS.

Tell me....would the Holy Spirit utter specific words that were used by the prophet John AGAINST the apostate Pharisees, levelling them at His Church?

The answer is NO. these "isms" are repeated over and over in these groups, for a purpose.

This is headed in a very specific direction.
Church, have you discerned where this is going yet?

Matthew 3
John the Baptist Prepares the Way

1In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” 3For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said,

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Preparea the way of the Lord;
make his paths straight.’”

4Now John wore a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. 5Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him, 6and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. 9 And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham. 10 Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

11 “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

(however "softball" these curves are, keep watching...this seems minor, but keep an eye on the PATTERN))

that specific prophetic phrase was for national israel and meant repentence UNTO SALVATION.
The Holy Spirit speaking through a "prophet" to Christ's Church today would NOT use that term.

The testamony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy....Rev. 19:10. Everything Jesus did is finished....complete....zippo....what is going on is the revealing of the metphor meanings in the scriptures for the last days. That is what is going on. It is the understanding that is opening up for us. God will always reveal to us what is about to happen before it occurs. Abraham was told about Sodom and Gomorrah...God is doing this for us today too. He never hids from us what He is about to do.

I'm not sure how you think I'm a chrismatic. Sorry, I never went down that road.

And, according to this NEW doctrine of "love", anything goes.

this is another tactic used to deflect from the TRUTH, to defend heresy, and it will not stand.

Love without Truth is sentimentality.

Galatians 1:8
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.

2 Corinthians 11:14
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

These things I have spoke to you, that you may be kept from stumbling. They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to thing that he is offering service to God. And these things they will do, because they have not known the Father, or Me. But these things I have spoken to you, that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.

"O righteous Father, although the world has not known Thee, yet I have known Thee; and these have known that Thou didst send Me; and I have made Thy name known to them, and will make it known; that the love werewith Thou didst love Me may be in them, and I in them."

When Jesus returns, will He find faith in the world?

Among those He knows, absolutely.
People who claim to channel Him? It seems to almost always end badly for them.

And men are going to die again for understanding the truth in doctrine in Revelation. They will stand on a sea of glass for their testamony....remember. These Multitude will be standing up for correct doctrines that the church has done a good job of twisting. Do you know who is going to send them to their deaths?
Christians who are claiming to have the correct doctrines but will send the ones who they think have the wrong doctrines to their deaths.

They did the same to Jesus....religion did that to him also.
