Seriously, guy, continuing to believe is not a self righteous work of the works gospel.
But, again, if anybody has chapter and verse that says it is I'm all ears.
Your are asking for a verse from scripture to disprove a "dogma" that does not exist to begin with.. again a very deceitful argument.

Chapter and verse would go a long way to proving your point.
I posted the verses that tell us to keep believing, and why, which obviously shows us that doing that is not you working to maintain your salvation in a works gospel.

If you’re drowning 100 feet below the surface of the ocean and someone gets you a line to pull you up, you aren’t saved during the process of being pulled up because you’re still under water. You’re only saved once you’re out of the water and able to breathe air. By your definition, you’re not yet saved.
The drivel he peddles is sickening.....and his false gospel has NO power...

1 Timothy 5:1 (NIV)
1 Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers,
What’s the matter vco, you don’t like it when someone stands up to your bullish attitude? Act like a real man, better yet act like a real Christian and I’ll treat you with the respect I afford my elders and brethren.

The relevance of my drowning analogy escapes you so we’ll simplify things. You’re drowning in ten feet of water, heck make it five feet, make it three, I don’t care; the fact is you’re still drowning until you’re face is out of the water.

If you need to maintain your salvation then your face is still in the water and you’re not saved. And don’t give me any crap about having your face underwater breathing through a straw. That’s a moot point because you can’t sustain that form of breathing for an extended period. Translation: not saved.

I feel inclined to ignore him but I want to defend the Gospel on behalf of readers who silently read this thread. I don’t want anyone led astray by a false narrative.

Ms EleventhHour Peace Maker here :) ... I feel you guys are talking about two different things altogether.

@VCO the point being made if I read @Lightskin correctly is that a person is saved once they have been fully rescued, not while in the process of being saved which is what @Judges1318 teaches.

Of course salvation comes at a moment in time, I do not think the analogy states otherwise.

The act of being rescued is FINAl, DONE, COMPLETE .. no analogy is perfect so speaking about exhaling on the way up is really a moot point.

Yes, the church should be healing everybody everywhere just like Jesus did, right?
Mark 16:17-18 promised signs and wonders of healing to those who believe. That passage did not say, "If only you REALLY REALLY REALLY believe..." Remember faith as small as a mustard seed?

You say me continuing to believe in order to stay saved is me trying to earn my own salvation.
How is that a dogma that doesn't exist?
You said it, not me.

Now show me where in scripture it says my believing is me trying to work to earn salvation.

The problem I see among the werkers is taking Hebrews out of it's 1st century context and the writers comparison with the 1st Exodus.

(Heb 3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.)

(Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways)

Notice the 40 years - Hebrews is using the same "saw my works" motif and applying it to the 40 years of powers, signs and wonders during the apostolic period, those powers, signs and wonders lasted around 40 years ending with the war of 66-70 AD with the destruction of the temple and the sack of Jerusalem;

(Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him)

(Heb 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?)

The generation he's speaking to had possibly an even greater evidence/witness than the Exodus generation. After the 1st century those "signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost" ceased.

Therefore to apply the conditions of Hebrews to any generation after that 1st century one is an anachronism.

The 40 year period is known as the second Exodus and note that the letter is known as the letter to the Hebrews.
So you do agree that what the resurrected Jesus told the 11 apostles in Mark 16:16-18 cannot be directed to us now, as God's instructions to Noah to build an ark too?

Mark 16:17-18 promised signs and wonders of healing to those who believe.
That's right.
To those who believe.
Not to those who have been told not to believe in signs and wonders.

28When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?

“Yes, Lord,” they replied.

29Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; 30and their sight was restored. - Matthew 9:28-29

That passage did not say, "If only you REALLY REALLY REALLY believe..." Remember faith as small as a mustard seed?
As we can see, the Cessationist Doctrine has removed even the mustard seed of faith from the church!
Just another negative result of the Reformed Movement.

not while in the process of being saved which is what @Judges1318 teaches.
No, Judges 1318 does not teach that.
The only 'process' there is in salvation is we have yet to be physically saved into our inheritance, the kingdom.

"This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." - 1 Peter 1:5

You receive that future part of salvation if you stay shielded by God's power through the continuance of the faith you started out in.
No more faith means no more being shielded by God's power until the salvation to be revealed in the last time. Read the passage. Or did Peter really mean you stay 'shielded by God's power not through faith', too?

The act of being rescued is FINAl, DONE, COMPLETE ..
'Final, Done, Complete' does not mean, by definition, 'can't be undone'.
Of course things that are 'done, final, and complete' don't have to, by definition, stay that way. Good grief!

How does this make it so Hebrews 10:26-29 doesn't mean a saved, sanctified believer in Christ can trample on the body of Christ and profane the Holy blood of Christ, and insult the Spirit and be lost as a result?

Exactly why I keep lighting him up....his street organ playing dogma is found no where but in his religion and or mind!

No, I believe in BIBLE and your TEACHING IF FAR FROM IT, but apparently you don't like Christians to respectfully show you are sinning. So be it. Your analogy held NO WATER, so I pointed it out. I have been WAY MORE PATIENT with you than others, and I SHOULD HAVE GIVEN YOU TWO OR THREE WARNINGS about your DIVISIVE ATTITUDE before.

SO tell me what Denomination, or TYPE OF CHURCH you do GO TO ? ? ?

I go to a Non-Denominational, Conservative Evangelical, OSAS Doctrinally, Community BIBLE TEACHING CHURCH, and I have sincerely been BORN AGAIN ever since the Last Week of 1977.

Here is the verse that I SHOULD HAVE Quoting to you SEVERAL WEEKS or MONTHS AGO.

Titus 3:9-11 (HCSB)
9 But avoid foolish debates, genealogies, quarrels, and disputes about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.
10 Reject a divisive person after a first and second warning,
11 knowing that such a person is perverted and sins, being self-condemned.

I seriously believe that GOD expects me to give you two warning about YOUR DIVISIVE ATTITUDE, and on the THIRD OFFENSE, put you on my Permanent IGNORE LIST.

So you can consider this to be your FIRST WARNING.

Your last line is exactly why you have no spiritual comprehension and or know God biblically.....as a matter of fact...it reeks of ignorance and such an ignorance that there really is nothing to compare it to without being censored or banned by the mods.....it also devalues Jesus and his promises, power and work to the extent that there can only be one source of such a belief....that being the devil himself!

I really think you are misunderstanding the point that @Lightskin was making.

Just take a step back and read the posts rather than jumping to conclusions.
