! Everywhere I looked on the bargain table at the bookshop tonight was Star wars books! I had never seen so many, and so few Star Wars fans ever come to buy them.

What is going on. There are annuals and encyclopedias and little pop up books, and sticker books and visual dictionaries and early readers and lego ones. star wars was never a science fiction book right? its just a movie. Cos I've never read it nor heard of it and its not among the classics that I know of.

Like Dune or War of the Worlds or The time Machine or The Little Prince or Brave New World.

Please someone explain.

Lol well all I can say is welcome to the wide world of Star Wars !
Yep, been books as long as there have been movies! Back when George Lucas owned everything, before the Mouse began his rule with an iron fist, there were authors that wanted to add to the story line of books. Pre-movie story lines, post-movies story lines. They had to run them through his people before doing them. Some were better than others. I read one by a lady that turned it into more of a love story thing and made Luke weak, not my favorite author. Some were quite well done. They were under the heading of Sci-Fi. It became so much more then the movies, books, video games, cartoons, monopoly games (I have a trivial pursuit version that has a digital "dice" r2d2, you push down the head, I think he beeps a lot and it "randomly lands" on a number). The game is not completely accurate in the answers, but enough to play it. Chess sets, and the list goes on. Then there is the fan based theatrical troops that go to places they are asked to go in costume and, in exchange, they raise money for worthy causes. The movies were a mere jumping off point, they took on a life of there own and the fans continue to breath life into them in a great many ways.
Hope this sheds some light on this world that is out there and helps others to understand it some that might not have known it has long since out grown the big screen....

I think basically the reason is that Disney ruined Star Wars. There was once hope of a future for the story-line. Now there is not - at least, not a future consistent with what made Star Wars great in the first place.

My boss said someone in head office, possibly some gen x kid or millenial whos a fan probably ordered them all. At least ten large format books that we cant get rid of. He said will have to have a clearance sale on a pallet to get them out the door.

so anybody interested in Star Wars Annual 2019? or make your own RD-D2. How about 'absolutely everything you ever wanted to know about Star Wars?' updated and expanded. The wookiepedia? And why are star wars now lego characters too. Pez dispensers not enough?

Dibs!😄
Honestly, I could have written the everything you want to know about Star Wars book, but eh, might as add that one in too, might be one or two things I might still have to learn. Pass on the how to build your own R2D2 book though, lol.
What's that like in American dollars?

according to currency converter, about $6.50 US. but that wouldnt include the cost of flying or shipping it to the US which would probably cost you at least three times as much....

if it is still there on my next shift I will investigate how much it would cost to send to the US. I think we are allowed to send things but I dont know about goods coming in. eveything is delayed beause of shipping and quarantine. People arent allowed in! so no flights. so it might take a couple of months to get to you.

But you could probably buy this at your local bookstore and I would encourage you to support local business, especially independent bookstores. They need your custom.

sorry that 'everything you wanted to know about Star Wars' book is sold.
All the other ones are still there though. I guess the person saw that book and thought well I dont need to buy all the others then.

huh. books are still there.
I was thinking maybe I could suggest to my boss to swap his stock with another store in a different area to see if they can sell there and we get some of their stock that doesnt sell in the other store that we dont have.

Our store just isnt in the star wars fanzone.

Sounds like a great idea.
Maybe they just need someone to read them the books, like a storytime thing. Read them half way and hook them, then have them buy the book to finish out how it concludes😁.
Just a
thought.

Finally. A scene with Jar Jar that i can get behind😄!

I have an old Jar Jar Binks phone book, not gonna lie. It was in clearance bin and I put a Christian sticker on top of Jar Jar. It had to be done.
