Hebrews 10
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

It's about returning to willful SIN.

Not about returning to the old testament!

Can't you read!?
Yes, and I can research too. This is not about a Christian who falls into temptation and sins. God chastises unto repentance. Can’t you see?

I have no problem discussing calvinism I can discuss calvinism with grandpa all day and never get into a battle, it is this group which seem incapable of having a conversation without going off on those who do not believe them. there was a third person who was with them, he always had the avatar from the starfish from squarpants.. anyway it seems nothing changes
I would not be surprised at all if they were here under a new user name. Click

It's OK if he offers inflammatory remarks, because he has self-proclaimed himself not to be in a vendetta (when he is in a vendetta with several in this thread).

Remember? His double standard he mentioned? It's therefore OK if he slanders or uses inflammatory language. That right here won't work here, and it won't work before God either.

What is wrong with you........move on.....your obsessed with yourself!......sick and tired of your winging.......on this thread!........

If someone accused you of lying, would you be okay with it?
If someone accused you of being a drunkard would you be okay with it?

If someone accused you of not being saved on the basis of a confessed sin would you be okay with it?

How about you answer for once?

This is not about a Christian who falls into temptation and sins.
The writer of that letter was a holy man of God inspired by the Holy Spirit; and he said "if we sin willfully".

"We" includes that same holy, inspired, man of God.

It's clear to me; I need no further explanation.

Unless of course I had been taught that believers sin all the time and cannot stop sinning.

But... No problem, stoneoffire.

I am not trying to convert anyone here. Just introducing another voice into the conversation (which I would argue is the voice of truth because it's Bible as I honestly see it).

I do not look down on you as inferior. There's one Judge we will all face one day on bended knees; he stands before the door.

You promote what you believe in good faith, and so do I.

Let God be the Judge. And let every man offer his voice to the body of Christ without dismissing them with the attitude of having no need for them. Especially when scripture can be shown as a source with limited to no commentary. The more commentary scripture needs to teach a doctrine, the more likely that doctrine is false.

Loss of salvation not in view.

What you have a acquired is very simplified reading of that entire passage, you give no consideration to the written expressive style and extensive knowledge of the writer of Hebrews.

Well I remember Dottie very well. Yes, she did get nasty at times and there was no debating or discussion with her about anything OSAS. She hasn't changed.
I’m beginning to see what you mean after my recent discussion with her. It’s very difficult to reason with people who feel they need to resort to straw man arguments and slander just to win an argument. :(

I have read and responded to Dottie in another forum as well as this one. It is impossible to reason with her!

Loss of salvation not in view? I do not see it that way.

As to me acquiring a very simplified reading of Hebrews 10:26...

Thank you!

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent fooled Eve through his craftiness, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3).

And this simplicity extends to his words; Like our Lord said, "unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not see the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:3).

Even a child can read Hebrews 10:26 and come to the conclusion that you better not be naughty. God knows who's naughty and who's nice. :)

Dude please

that is not what was said

so stop being like those who consistently lie about others, especially since you claim to want peace

john 6 Jesus said it is the will of the father that all who see and believe will have eternal life

how do they see?
who convict?
who draws?
who has the words of eternal life?
does not the word say faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god?

who helps us understand those words?
who gives us the hope which can not be seen?

is it self or is t God?

you see seeing and believing is the work of God, and that is what god chose to elect. Those who see and believe.

if you all want to prove you honestly want to discuss, to reconcile as They said, and open you heart (even if you disagree) then you will, stop, saying things which are not true about my faith and my words

"....Not all men are created with similar destiny but eternal life is foreordained for some, and eternal damnation for others. Every man, therefore, being created for one or the other of these ends, we say, he is predestined either to life or to death."
Sounds about right to me. God ordained all things as the all wise person must do. The alternative is to let an unknown force determine the future to some extent which is not the wisest thing, so God would not allow it as it opposes His essence.

But what does scripture say: Ephesians 1:11 In Him also we have received an inheritance [a destiny—we were claimed by God as His own], having been predestined (chosen, appointed beforehand) according to the purpose of Him who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His will,

Perhaps you have a verse saying God does not works all things according to his purpose???? Perhaps, for example, we are saved by our free will and thus God's plan in this area is according to our purpose. OH PRAISE MAN whose purpose is this area supercedes God's purpose or try to turn it on its head and say "God purpose is to proceed according to Man's purpose".
