I prefer the forums here myself, it's easier to connect with people through the forums, established groups of users are far easier to integrate into on the forums, in the chat it's hard if not impossible.

Add to that everytime I go into the chat singles room it's empty, as are many of the others, the lounge is so crowded it's hard, people seem to not use some of the other chat rooms, even though there seems to be more everytime I go there.

Neither, Its either get hit on in the Chatrooms or ignored in the forums.

I started in the Chatrooms because I like having speech accountability and an audience (jury). Conversations are linear and people actually speak from what they know. But I dunno, it hasn't been my cup of tea for a while. I feel like the patients are running the asylum now.

So then there is the forums which are slower. Conversations sometimes take days or just get forgotten.

I think it's funny this is posted in the forums... of course people are going to say the forums because the people that chat don't often go to the forums and the people on the forums don't often go to the chat. Not to say this is true for everybody. I've found benefits in both... but I've also found frustrations in both.

As Liamson said... "get hit on in the chatrooms" - it can be true.... or it can be tough to find someone with whom you WANT to converse on a variety of subject matter.

Instead of saying, "ignored in the forums," I would say "get forgotten." But not only are conversations forgotten... there are sooooo many repeats of the same conversations over and over again. I would LOVE to find a lot of new post in the forums about things in which I have an interest - and that does happen at times - but unfortunately a lot of the time I see the same post with slightly different phrasing as a subject. I wonder if people know how to "search" the forums and make sure they aren't posting on something that has already been posted. I also wonder why we keep talking in circles. I just get sick of that...

All of this said, I'd say I probably prefer the chatrooms for actually discussing things at all levels (shallow and deep) but I like the forums more for depth. Despite my preferences, it doesn't always happen on either end.

FORUMS!!

(those that would choose chatrooms, probably will never see this post to vote. LOL)

When I first joined this site, things were MUCH different around here. The chatrooms were enjoyable. I still have friendships from those early days.

Now, I enjoy the *banter* you can have on the forums. I don't feel the need to constantly post. And I do not take it personally when my posts don't get responded to.

Just like any type of system like this, there are always going to be those *more popular*, and those that get more attention and those who people gravitate to more. Its not much more different than real life.

Yes there are times when people get ignored but YOU barely ever get ignored.... that's why I try to respond to posts with no reply....

I would vote for forums.. chat so many people-more than the relationships part of the brain can hold, I would say.... and at other times no one.. :)

I like the forums better because the conversations here tend to at least be ABOUT something, whether deep or light-hearted. It is tough sometimes to keep a conversation going. We're all so busy and pop in when we can. :)

^ I agree with this. In the forums, it's easier to stay on topic then in the chat were conversations are frequently scattered so I vote forums.

LOL

I really enjoy the forums because in a way you can come to terms with peoples personalities just from reading what they write (gosh what people must think of me eek).
Majority of forum users I really like but I never see in the chat, probably cos of the time diference but whenever I see a user in the chat who I regularly read Im always like "Wowsa is it really you!!?". Going into chat reminds me of walking into my local pub ordering a lemon and lime mixer and watching to see what happens or who turns up lol.

Getting hit on is an uncomfortable regularity, no matter how obviously I state that Im engaged, but you just take it as a compliment and warn them to move on.

I found when I first came here a few days ago....the chatroom was very unwelcoming. My posts and or questions were ignored and those there just talked to whomever they knew. Shrugs.... oh well

Welcome Honeydew! Hope you enjoy it here! Jump in on the forum discussions...there are so many going on that it is easy to get lost on here. Please ask if you need any help navigating things. :)

Blessings!

Oh, well a lot of people can't find it so I'm not surprised. You just click on "Chat Rooms" at the top of this page and then you have to click on the big blue button near the top that says "Chat Now". Have fun! :)
