monergism is God alone is the author of my salvation
synergism is God offering and man accepting
I hold to eternal security. A believer cannot be lost . Not due to a gnostic election , but to being sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption and being predestined to Rom 8 23 after we believed .

10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, (the Jews) and those who were His own did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him (Jews and Gentiles), to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

who were born physically, (blood) not by their own will (flesh), nor of anyone's will , but by God's own purpose and will.

Anyone's will is harder to explain, but one of the ways a Jew was a Jew was by education, or place in their society instead of being a Jew spiritually.
its simply saying its not through works/ birth right, inheritance, blood line , ect

I don't really think you know what Gnostics were.

Gnostics denied the humanity of Christ. Calvinists deny no such thing.

Gnostics taught that matter was evil. Calvinists teach no such thing.

I read you compare Calvinism to Manichaeism in another thread. That is a false equivelancy. Do you have any idea of what the Manichaes taught?

It's ridiculous and ludicrous for you to compare someone who is a Calvinist to a gnostic. That's kind of like comparing a non Calvinist to a Pelagian. Both are ridiculously unfair caricatures.

I'd recommend Ken Wilsons book ' The Foundation of Augustinian-Calvinism

or of the will of the flesh...
Same difference. If I was just walking around with no knowledge of Jesus, the gospel, the Bible ect and I was trying to ' will ' my self to be made right with God this would be futile .

Then read Eph 2.11-12 and see how Calvinism mis interprets Eph 1.4-5
It a book....you start at the beginning and read to the end. There is a "plot" in the book..a main theme.
No room for misinterpretation...its in English.

I don't need to read secondary sources. I have all the primary sources I need.

I can read Augustine, and I can read Calvin, and I can read Gnostics, those kinds of sources are available.

I don't put much weight on secondary sources. People with PHD's say the virgin birth and the resurrection are myths.

Why read secondary sources when many primary sources (which are better) are readily available ONLINE and for FREE.
Go for it . I was just suggesting a little more of a lighter read .

Rom 11
6And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
This is why singular scripture doesn't serve because it negates context.
Romans 11
Israel’s Rejection not Complete nor Final

Interestingly enough puts asunder replacement theology.

Why was a post I posted almost an hour ago not show up????
Anyway, MacArthur has turned from this original teaching as a 4-point calvinist and gone completely to the dogs.
Was a key person in the Lordship Savation apostasy arguing against free grace, and is a dispensationalist.

I expected better from Soggy.....such language.
I don't agree with your lordship salvation either :(
Oh my goodness. Really? Such language?

Nope. But it certainly has nothing to do with salvation.
The Bible says you're wrong.

Do you still sin? How many sins are attributed to believers? Did Jesus indeed pay for every singe sin or not?
I don't make a habit of sinning. Any missing of the mark is under the blood of Jesus and is held against me no more ever.

Your gospel is one of works. no matter how much you try and spin it.
Your false opinion doesn't mean a thing to the truth of my faith or path. I follow Jesus' gospel and it isn't one that glorifies the lazy who think all they have to do is believe and live as they did before.

Nope. A pardon is only as good as it's acceptance.
That phrase makes no sense.

You say no, but then you add performance as "proof" one is truly saved.
No.

You say as much with this quote again:
Now I know why you think the way you do.
Thanks.
