we’re saved from sin and death already ? Is everyone ? Or do some folks need to work out thier salvation with fear and trembling ?

“And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:11-13‬ ‭

see how that verse says God is working in us to change our will and actions to his will ? Well that doesn’t mean we have no role the very next verse says do all things without complaining ....

Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

there really is no guarantee even if we receive the Holy Spirit , we can still refuse salvation and be damned We have to believe the gospel and follow after him

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6:4-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

receiving the Holy Spirit doesn’t guarantee salvation as you see there , unfruitful branches that soak up the rain and sun but bear no fruit are burned . Receiving the Holy Spirit through cknfession isn’t the end it’s the beginning of salvation
I edited the post while you were typing to make it clearer. Read what it says now. We will We are saved from the second death and from the power and penalty Of sin

I trust in the Word of God and read it directly..

I do not place my salvation into the hands of preachers.. Allowing them to lead me where ever they are heading.. Jesus is my Messiah not macarthur or anyone else..
Very good advice. Make your calling and election sure. Don’t let another man decide it for you. Take God at his word and rely solely on what he says, not on commentaries, other preachers, or comments posted.

I tried for many years to “get saved”, “make a commitment “, “accept Jesus as lord and savior “. I went forward in many church services. Got baptized over twenty times must have been. “Prayed through “. I did it all. I even went forward in a church service on my knees publicly in humility. Cried out, begged God and kept telling him I would serve him if he would save me. Nothing. Sky was brass. One day I was reading romans 4 and it’s like a light dawned on me. I trusted in Jesus Christ and in him alone for my salvation. That very instant the burden of sin left me. I knew God had taken away my sins for Christ sake. And I had bible to back it up. And still do. If and man is IN CHRIST he’s a new creation. In Christ first, then the new creation. What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought since Jesus came into my heart

The power of God’s saving grace is glorious
People make what we do the big deal. I don’t remember even saying a prayer, though I had said it a million times. I didn’t tell God how sorry I was. He already knew. I just trusted Christ. And it made me want to serve him. That’s it. Simple faith. My conversion was very similar to John Wesley in nature. No “sinners prayer”. And it made an eternal difference. None of this clean your life up. Divorce the devil before you marry Christ. None of that mess. Just simple faith in his shed blood. Last thing a true believer wants to do at salvation is to continue on in their sins. Repentance over sin isn’t the root of salvation. But it always is the fruit. Salvation makes a definite change.

So Jesus isn’t keeping you?
I'm spiritually already seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. I'm sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. Predestined to glorification . I don't accept the reformed view of the P . Its subtle works salvation.

Yep. Keep on getting up
that’s salvation , keep letting him pick us up and dust us off and we keep
On persevering all the while we have his assurance as we follow he will not let us go . It’s when we hear his call in the gospel and we reject it when we begin to look away and eventually fall away

perseverance is the call of Christians

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and to those who hear him and follow he gives an assurance consistantly
In his word if only we would hear and believe him and learn of him Notice the connection in hearing and following him

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.

Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:27-31‬ ‭

we have assurance right beside the teachings about repentance and righteousness the assurance he gives is always based on belief in him , hearing and accepting his word , heeding and following the truth

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the truth he bore witness to is what we need to believe to understand and grasp The long and high and wide and deep gospel of God. The light he brought forth of judgement and truth

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:23-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

in spirit

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and in truth

I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:14,

“That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:26-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the gospel is pure water we are to be washed in his word in order to cleanse our hearts and minds , sanctifying us inwardly so our fruit is worthy.

I edited the post while you were typing to make it clearer. Read what it says now. We will We are saved from the second death and from the power and penalty Of sin
it depends on if we serve sin or the Holy Spirit if we serve sin we will receive its reward , if we serve God we will receive the kingdom .

we are free from the judgement we deserved according to the law of sin and death but now the judgement is eternal whether life or death . So who we serve has become of utmost importance now

we can serve sin still and die the death , or we can believe the gospel and be redeemed unto the gospel

“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:15-18, 20-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we can get baptized and say I believe but if we continue to serve satans will in the world we belong to him . If we repent and begin serving God through Christ we will be saved from the punishment over all sin.

receiving the Holy Ghost is the beginning salvation from condemnation comes when we follow the spirit to be free from sin

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

see there how we can’t walk after the flesh and claim anything but by not following the flesh and following the spirit we are Made free ?

the works of the flesh is the actions and attitudes of sin everything the gospel cleanses from the heart and mind

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:19-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What we do in response to what has been done for us by the lord , matters equally , it’s not about what we did , but about what we do . We aren’t perfect yet but we have the power to repent and change for God to begin making Gods important things our important things

really good discussion thank you and I’m so sorry for the length of
My responses I get carried away I appreciate you my sibling

but the lord appreciated you far more

So Jesus didn’t know the Gentiles would be saved?

So Jesus had two different folds during His earthly ministry?
What does ' knowing ' have to do with what the writers reveal to us in the accounts what happened?

Go and make DISCIPLES of ALL NATIONS.

Which was a part of the plan from before the foundation of the world.
Were talking about Jesus ministry whilst on earth..He came for the Lost Sheep of ISRAEL not gentiles. We don't come in until Paul the apostle to the gentiles.

I hold that Jesus’ intent is that believers become disciples. Matthew 28:18-20. Do you believe that as well?
I hold to Church age instructions found in the very letters written to us .

So Jesus knew so little about the Tanach that He didn’t even know that Isaiah prophecies the salvation of the Gentiles?

I think you need a more comprehensive understanding of the teaching of the Bible as a whole.
please show a verse where Jesus says he came for the lost sheep of Gentiles ? There's no verse saying he came for the Gentiles . Dying for the world yes .

What does ' knowing ' have to do with what the writers reveal to us in the accounts what happened?
Because Jesus was talking about Gentiles when He said other sheep not of this fold
