First, you steam your sinuses clean-n-clear...

Then, you break the Guiness World Record for volume of coffee consumed in the shortest time...

Then, you treat your hands for 2nd-degree burns...

Then, you put your back in traction from the over-stretched muscles...

Then, ...

haha
Is this your morning ritual :p

Yes...they do...it can be pricey. But if you ever get caught fishing without a license the fines are such that you could have afforded a lifetime license.

And the free license for retiree's is for residents of TN...not alabama. You still have to get one but it doesn't cost anything.

Besides...the best part of Bama is LA. Shrimp and oysters and charter fishing.
I was speaking about you getting a Lifetime License for Tennessee. Not me........ :) The BEST THING to come outta Tennessee is I-65....... :)

Seriously, as for Bama, yes the Gulf Coast has great seafood, but the REAL fishing experience is in the fresh waters of Bamas Lakes and Rivers. That fishing is famous around the Country. Bass Masters comes here every year! If you have never fished Lake Guntersville, or the Tennessee River, well, you are missing out. Many of the freshwater fish Records come from Alabama Lakes and Rivers.........

I'm a freshwater guy..........saltwater is ok because it is STILL fishing, but I prefer freshwater. :)

I'll pass on the oysters though, don't care if they come from the water or the mountain........... :)

I don't like fish or seafood. I don't like the fishy flavour. Prawns are ok if they have garlic and chilli, then you don't taste that prawny flavour. I know weird, but alas that is just me. I prefer chicken and beef although I am not a huge meat eater. I am not vegetarian either and definitely not vegan. That would be torturous. The restrictions would drive me crazy. Hmmm all this food talk is making me hungry and it is dinner time........

A carolina rig with an electric red worm and them bass practically jump out at ya. Did all kinds of fishing for bass and crappie in alabama.

Lots of fun. Lots of fish.
Fishing has changed some since I last fished in Alabama though. The braided lines have really made a difference. (Used to all be monofilament)

Nowadays I used braided line with florocarbon leaders and don't sweat it much. I never had much use for the line splicing knots till the braided lines became cheap.
and the reels have gotten really nice for next to nothing as well. Poles?
whole nother story. If you can get a good one for under $50 you have done really good. They have gotten all kinds of crazy expensive.

Early good morning from Gandy... Howdy folks :p
WOW! That was early for Gandy........
it was only 9:30 pm (my time ) when he posted that................
usually (when I pull an allnighter) I don't see Gandy till around 12:30- 1 A.M..............

Hey ya'll! It's HOT here today  6 :30 a.m and it's already 40 F
the ice we tried breaking off the driveway yeasterday (in 36 F temp and sunny) is slowly melting and has a big water ring around it, and is ready to break off :) interesting what 4 degrees can do)....

so my brain is having a thoughtful conversation with itself right now, something like:
thought A:  hmm if it's already 40 this morning, I wonder just how much warmer it will be today?
thought B: Umm.. you know, you could just open another window and search the weather link?
thought A: Yeah I know..... Just don't feel like doing that, nor really care right now since the back of my mind is really on.........
back of my mind: will you two quiet down? The back of your mind can't focus on ANYTHING with all this chitchatting going on.

I'll pass on the oysters though, don't care if they come from the water or the mountain........... :)
hubs had me try oysters a couple different times prepared different ways....
one was straight from the shell at the resturant for our anniversary last year....
the other was in an oyster stuffing recipe he asked me to make around New Years.....
I have concluded that while I don't mind them (to much) and could probably get myself used to the taste if I ate them often enough....
the only "oyster" I really like is the one right here on CC
@oyster67

I have been wanting to take my father charter fishing. I was occupied with my job when my Dad went with my brothers salmon fishing outside of Portland Oregon...they got kings and had a great time. (30+ years ago)

So since we now live within striking distance of the gulf coast...I was thinking about us going charter fishing again. And inviting some of my Sunday School class guys to come with. And if we can get a barbeque grill while there...I can put a hurt on some groceries.

It's absolutely amazing how good a "home cooked" meal can taste during those times. I can't get comfortable in a restaurant...but around a dinner table I prepared the meal? Fughetaboutit...
I'll eat until I pop. So will the others.

Fishing can be dangerous!

I stumbled upon this little book at the bookstore once called something like '101 strange deaths' and one of them was about a guy who was sleeping in a cozy hut over the water in Bali when a swordfish leapt out of the water and skewered him.

I am now marveling at the thought that Jonah was swallowed whole by a giant fished AND lived three days in it belly........
which got this song (from veggietales Johna movie) stuck in my head now
