I said NOTHING of works. Why are you?
Last comment.
You say we can lose salvation, that means we must earn it.

that’s called works

either way, you claimed the 1611 KJV did not say what I said, I proved it did, and you failed to confess you were wrong

just a typical legalist who will not admit when he is wrong,

You better study it again...The KJV 1611...does not say that. What bible are you referring?
The bible says that faith without works is dead...James 2
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Philippians 2:12... Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Works don't save us, for only Jesus can save us. But now that Jesus did His part on dying for our sins, are we going to continue in sin? That's where our works come in, not to save us, but because we are saved. It's called uniting humanity with divinity. He works and we work. If you do away with the law you do away with Jesus. He came to die because the law was broken to save us from our sins. Sin is the transgression of the law of God. If the law could be changed or annulled then God would've done that instead of sending His only begotten Son to die for us. His commandments stand fast forever, they are as enduring and perpetual as the author, for they are a reflection of His character...... Please understand, I am not trying to argue or debate, I'm just trying to shed some light on this matter, for it truly is a matter of life and death.....

Proverbs 7:2-3...2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

He has written His law in our hearts and minds where no one can take them from us......Much blessings!
The dragon which is the devil is not mad and making war with the regular Christian church but with those that keep God's commandments.
Revelation 12; 17....And the dragon was wroth with the woman, (church) and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Amen! It's sad how people are so blinded. It is so clear, yet they can't see it cause they don't want to. They rather believe a cheap religion of once saved always saved. That is not biblical. If it were we would not need an advocate with The father, or an intercessor for our sins. .......
Romans 8:34 ......- Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
1 John 2:1.....“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:”

1 John 1:9..... If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

THAT YE SIN NOT! God would never ask us to do something we are not able to do....

Much blessings......

New age religion thinking? Trying to find salvation without works is Biblical.

"But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." - Matthew 3:7-10 (KJV)

Even Jesus cursed a fig tree for not producing the fruits of its nature (Mat 21). If the fruits of that faith are our good works, then it follows that true faith naturally expresses itself in the form of works (faith in fruition). A lack of works is perhaps a sign of a disconnect (sin) from good nature. To add to the problem, our measurement of works is going to be flawed and inaccurate. A person may see themselves being of good faith and good works, only not to realise that though they thought themselves "good" that they were in fact an unwitting puppet of evil, such as by donating to a charity that commits wicked deeds using your donations. The priest in the parable of the Good Samaritan is perhaps an example of a man failed to produce the fruits of faith despite likely thinking of himself as faithful and good based on his role as a priest. Maybe the priest usually did perform good works, and maybe the fig tree cursed by Jesus usually did produce fruit appropriately. Lacking fruit; producing bad fruit: it isn't a simple subject.

Faith and works can not be seperated. They go hand in hand with each other. The problem is a lot of people focus on the faith side and have made works a bad thing. Works will come naturally if the faith is pure and your heart is right. Dead faith has no works, and works that are done for the wrong motive will not be rewarded as faith.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The 10 Commandments are alive and well, they have never been revoked or replaced.
Amen! so true. And to say that we cannot keep them or obey
The 10 Commandments are alive and well, they have never been revoked or replaced.
Amen! To say they have been done away with, and that you cannot keep or obey them is disrespect and a mockery to God. He said: "If you love me, keep my commandments". John 14; 15. He would never ask us to do something He knew would be impossible for us to do. Also, the true agape love of God needs to be in our hearts. For, "though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (love), I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal" 1 Corinthians 13; 1.....be blessed....

I just disagree with a works maintenance or probably a better way to say It Is I’ll have a relationship with GOD using my own strength to KEEP my salvation By keeping the ten commandments.Remember In the old covenant they tried to show force by having enough fighters to meet In their mind enough force to be adequate but GOD told them you have to many.
All Glory goes to GOD and none of us.

We can never keep the commandments of God on our own strength. It is only by His grace, and His strength. He says to take hold of His strength. Isaiah 27; 5. Without Him, we can do nothing. John 15; 5. But with God, ALL things are possible! Matthew 19; 26. His grace covers us and strengthens us, and empowers us to live Godly, righteous lives in this present world........... "11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, RIGHTEOUSLY, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of GOOD WORKS" Our works don't save us, we work because we are saved.

"Pilgrimshope, posted]

the difference is needing to be commanded under punishment of death to honor ones parents , versus being born again and having that respect and honor being imprinted upon our heart so that we don’t need to be commanded under death to do so

“honor your parents , if not you will be put to death by the people “ is the law of commandment

be born again in the spirit , and you will live and become a child of God who naturally honors parents and more than that one another , not neeeing a commandment to do so but simply living the new life God creates in us through the gospel

look at something as simple as the sabbath

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Commandment

“Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the Lord: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭35:2‬ ‭

the law of sin and death

“And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.

And the Lord said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord commanded Moses.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭15:32, 35-36‬ ‭

But the New Testament is contrary to that law

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:16-17‬ ‭

Observance of the law was a shadow of the real things in Christ . Being born again is what saves us . Being born of the gospel and the truth therin leaves a person not having motivation , reason or inclination to do things like dishonor parents , worship false gods , kill . Lie , cheat

you can’t be born of the gospel and walk on those ways but you can observe Ten Commandments and be utterly wicked at t them.he same time

we have to change at the source of our sin problem the commandments can’t do that but the gospel can[/QUOTE]

I still maintain my position that the 10 commandments are much relevant and still apply to us Christians. As I have said severally, it is the method of fulfilling them that have changed. --- It seems you are saying same thing in a way, if I understand you well.

What I see more in your post is a mixture of the 10 commandments handed to Moses at Mt Sinai and the statutes /ordinances. The op in one of her posts mentioned that the two are different which I agree with to a large extent. We must be able to differentiate the two.

There are the 10 commandments Moses went up the Mountain to receive from God and there are other statutes and ordinances which specify how the law should be fulfilled as well as the consequences of not fulfilling them. In other words, there is the main law and there are what we can call the appendices which show what and what one has to do to show fulfilment of the main law. These are the works of the law mentioned in Galatians 2:16

If we read and understand Paul's letters to the Gentiles, we will notice that his references as regards the issue under discussion were on the law of commandments contained in the ordinances . ( which shall be their righteousness if they observe to do all that were written therein.)

I quote (old kjv) --just few instances

1. Ephesians 2:14 - 16
"For he is our peace , who has made both one and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity even, the law of commandments contained in ordinances for to make in himself of two, one new man. so making peace. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby."

2. Colossians 2:13 - 17; 2:20-22
"And, you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with him having forgiving you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us which was contrary to us and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of a holyday or of the new moon or of the sabbath days, which are a shadow of things to come but the body is of Christ.
Wherefore, if you be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why as though living in the world are you subject to the ordinances ( Touch not, handle not, which all are to perish with the using after the commandments and doctrines of men.

So when he says, Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: he was referring to the works of the law contained in the ordinances.

Another area of consideration is the standard of their (Jewish) understanding of the law versus the higher understanding of the law Jesus taught. When speaking of the law, we must go beyond their narrow mindset

As Jesus said regarding the sabbath, the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath, so, the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.

As a Christian, am I bound to worship on the Sabbath day? my answer is Nope. Reason, I believe, the "order" of worship has changed. However, it is no sin for anybody to have Saturday as his/her special day of worship. I believe that even if we serve and worship God everyday, we must not neglect the assembling of ourselves together as Paul said even in this period of Covid 19. The spiritual benefits outweigh the cons.

Does anyone believe we can and must keep the 10 Commandments?
No,No one can keep the ten commandments In their own strength and keep them perfectly and thats because of the weakness of the flesh ,they are adding and Impossible weight to carry upon themselves.

Under the New covenant the Issue Is no longer about doing to receive salvation but now Its about whosoever will believe.

GOD looked at his faith not his physical work ,but a person WILL seek to purify himself even as he Is pure after GOD has done a work In them.

I'm not God and don't plan to judge anyone. But true faith will have works. A apple tree produces apples, Love for Jesus results in righteous obedience. The power and strength comes from God so we can not boast but Jesus wants to give us the victory.
1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
oh_14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
1Jn_5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Are you saying his actions to believe In GOD Is work?

IMO believing Is not work.Believing Is believing and work Is work but believing comes First then after
believing

GOD will do a work In that person and they WILL do good works that will be rewarded at the judgement seat of CHRIST.

GOD looks at the heart and knows If the person Is truly Believing but man looks at outward appearances.

Romans 4:1-2
King James Version

1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath [whereof] to glory; but not before God.
