“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
. The verse is explained in the context. He is constant in His love and promises (see vss. 5–6). He is true and faithful always and will not lie (Num. 23:19). Because He is faithful, you are to do what follows (vss. 13–18). He is the SAME in that He is the same Saviour today that came and died on the cross of Calvary. His physical make‑up may not be the same, and His station in the universe may not be the same; but He is the ONE who came and bled and died yesterday, the ONE who is presently alive and “making intercession for the saints” (Heb. 7:25) today, and the ONE who will come back to earth and reign “FOREVER,” although He did NOT reign when He was here. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

The sermon on the mount couldn’t be MORE for us. It is a picture of what the Christian life should look like
The ' Christian life ' began with the giving of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2 . There were no ' Christians ' on the mount. Jesus earthly ministry was to Israel ,so he's addressing Jews on the mount .
People need to take seriously this verse and realise that we ( gentiles) are not in the picture yet in the Four gospels. Gentiles and the Body of christ is not understood until Paul. The first time the 12 realise Gentiles are also included is not until 10 years after Acts 2 ( Acts 11 )
Eph 2 .
11¶Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise HAVING NO HOPE and without God in the world .
When did this change? on the mount ?

Next verse
13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of christ .

Seriously, do you think we shouldn't follow the teachings of the Lord? Is there any reason not to follow Jesus' teachings or any place in scripture that says we shouldn't? I don't think so.

From what I can gather from reading scripture... through him we are made overcomers and we are not slaves to sin anymore, but if we do mess up and sin then we have forgiveness through Jesus.
this sure is a clear understanding of things made very simple and I concur perseverance is salvation even when we stumble and we do if we acknowledge it and forgive others he will forgive us. And also purge the thkngs in us that will make us right so we don’t just sin without care but when we do we will know what is up and repent

Always realise not every ' us ' in the bible means us .One thing is clear and that we can be sure of our identity. That identity is ' in Christ ' . In the body of Christ . The doctrine for the body is found not in verses for Israel.

But we do have the Holy Ghost now.

John 14:26 “ But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
If the Holy Ghost accurately and completely led us to knowing the truth we would all agree on our interpretations of scripture. The Lord would not tell us that we see darkly, but a day is coming when we will see face to face.

Quick question, was forgiving a part of the Old Covenant law? Seriously, am asking here because I don't know. Doesn't seem like it would have been because of the the law eye for and eye, tooth for a tooth. Just wondering...
I see forgiveness as a part of true agape love, which transcends time and testaments. Much Law was necessary because man was (and still is) born with a very hard heart. Once a man allows the Holy Spirit full control, love and forgiveness can freely flow and we can come under Christian Liberty from the Law.

Some scripture speaks of the commands that we are not obliged to keep as "the Law of Moses". These laws are very different from the eternal laws that are part of our world, like do not murder or steal. When Christ came as a man and we were given the Holy Spirit to guide us, not these laws, we were not obliged to keep them. Law, other than these commands, has nothing to do with old or new testament. God did not divide our scripture, man did. To God there is sameness and eternal principles, not new and old ones.

You speak of a eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. This had the same meaning as it does for us today. It means God asks us to be just, it was given by the Lord when it was possible to lose a hand over stealing an apple. This saying has no relation to taking out eyes. We say "don't burn your bridges" in the same way.

If we read scripture as cherry picking, so nothing of the Lord that is of Israel is to be listened to, then we cannot learn about our Lord.

Again I don't say that . We learn about the Lord in how the scriptures explain what happened ect . But by taking directions and commands given to others will confuse the matter . All of the bible is for us .Not ALL is TO us .

The Holy Ghost does teach us and guide us if we listen and follow. We don't need the law of Moses. Which was added, after the ten commandments because they couldn't simply understand the Spirit in which the commandments were given. They went by the letter of the Law and really didn't even have a good understanding of the deeper meaning behind it or the commandments. However, we have the Holy Ghost today and we don't need Moses' law. It was a school master. That led to Christ and faith in him.

The Holy Ghost is our teacher. Those led by the Holy Ghost knows when they are sinning because the Holy Ghost teaches us and convicts us of sin. He also reminds of Jesus teachings. The Holy Ghost wouldn't teach us to go against or disregard the teachings of Jesus.

Of course, that doesn't mean that anyone is perfect now. We are still flesh. We are not always walking in the Spirit. But the more we walk in the Spirit the more we learn and grow.

Stellar! And this is the problem everyone who teaches heresy has. They don't see Jesus as he truly is. God speaking to all mankind.

Amen amen amen !!

That’s the answer right there to every question about Faith a Christian has

“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:23-24, 26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord;

I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord:

for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”

And how great is his mercy, to suffer the abuse that was heaped on him and willing to forgive it! If that doesn't cause repentance, nothing will.

I know. It's amazing how, "Thy will be done" (the love and patience of the Father toward sinners), was demonstrated by the Son. The hate he faced with the compassion he showed is stunning.

How his beautiful expression of Gods love, is misinterpreted as the Father pouring out judgement against his Son is even more stunning.

I look at it as he was saving us from the judgement upon the world because of us

it alsways made sense to me that Jesus died for my sins but when I began to realize he died for the sins of those who offend me from time to time humility became impossible to miss by just considering the lord in the gospel
