Went to the Lake this morning. Had a fairly ok day. One really exciting and sad moment was when I hooked a really big catfish. Got it to the Pier and my Bro in Law got it in the catch net, but when he started to pick it up, the catfish went to jumping and flopping, and jerked the net out of my Bro in Laws hands. Fish and Net went into the Lake..........EEK! We got another rod and hooked the net and started to pick up the net and fish again, but the fish was still fighting and managed to get free. GONE! My really big catfish gone forever.......sigh.......BUT I did save my net, and those things run about forty dollars........soooooooo

Later on, we had a good laugh at what I caught. Got a bite, set the hook and started reeling in my catch, and it felt really BIT too! That was until I got it up and pulled it over the rails and onto the Pier. We both laughed quite a lot to see that I had not only caught a Shellcracker, but a BIG Clam shell as well. It was the Clam shell that made it feel like I had a big fish on the line. Actually, the Clam shell was about 4 or 5 inches x 3 inches or so, and for a freshwater Lake that is a really BIG Clam shell. There was still a few bits of meat in the shell too...........

When you go fishing, you NEVER KNOW what you may catch, huh?

okay cultural differences quiz time here.

By now I am sure the majority of us usual posters in SYM and those who frequently lurk about reading this thread all know the difference between American and Australian "thongs". (don't worry, not revisiting THAT here  )

Just curious what comes to mind when I say the term SLOPPY JOE ????

So, MANWICH is helping with dinner tonight.......
SLOPPY JOES
BUT........... I stumbled across something while looking things up on google that said "what is "sloppy joe" in Australian slang" so being naturally curious I HAD to find out..........
I clicked the pull down bar and it said:

Sloppy Joe is an Austalian term for pullover, normally loose and often fleecy lined. Refence the Australian Macquarie Dictionary. —
View attachment 227798 looks cozy, and comfy and now I want one. (also found out it is a clothing brand line
https://www.sloppyjoe.co.uk/

now it has me curious........
 @Ruby123 do you guys have sandwiches like this called something different? What are they called?
Sloppy Joe over here is baggy jumper. I think you call it pullovers. We call the button up ones cardigans and you may call them sweaters. All gets very confusing.
The sandwich thing. I don't think we would call that a sandwich because it has a bun and not two bread slices so I guess we would call it some type of burger. Mexican burger or something like that. I have never heard of sloppy Joe sauce. Is it Mexican? Looks like some type of spicy sauce with beans and you add mince meat to it?? Looks difficult to eat, like it would be messy but I am willing to try

Looks like a tasty dinner :)(y) Think I might try a sloppy joe this weekend. I think for ease I'll make a bolognese.. sounds fancy its all from a Jar and packets.. Mince is frozen , bolognese in a jar lol

Plus, I don't fancy spending anymore money this week lol :cautious::ROFL:.

Talking of money --I have a wee story for you all -----

There was an Ole Scotsman who lived in an ole toon hoose. One night as he was sleeping. He awoke with a jolt from banging coming from down the stairs. It took the ole man a second or two before he was 'compos mentis'. The sound of movement from feet on creaking floorboards moved through the air to the old man's ears.

Stealthfully maneuvering out and off his bed. The ole man stretched an arm out to reach for his torch. With torch in hand the Ole man with a feather step went slowly down the stairs reaching the bottom step, without a creak or squeal from the mouth of the wooden staircase. The ole man stopped and listened.

Moving furniture and rustling of papers emit their song at the push and pull of the intruder - like a conductor directing his orchestra.

The ole man mustered his strength and entered the living room. The song and dance of the furniture and rustling paper and the conductor came to a grand pause. The Ole man girding himself for battle lifted his torch and shone the light upon the face of intruder.

"whit are ye doin in ma hoose" ? The ole man asked.

"Am here tae tak yer money, valuables Ana" was the intruders reply.

The ole mans in a mercurial manner eyes wider his head lifts.

"Why didnae ye say so sooner, wait right here. I'll gan get the spare torch, and we can search the hoose fir money taegether"
That was funny :)

After talking to the lord I’m not going to see the Jonas brothers this fall and but I have never made a decision like this before I loved them since I was a kid now as a young adult I feel like I’m making the good choice not to see my favorite band who sold there souls to the devil and but I just saw them 2 years ago before Covid and it was a very good concert to see my favorite brothers together again after breaking up in 2013 but it was a fantastic show as I thought but they were drinking with a there fans it was super weird since they don’t do it when they were a Disney teenagers but I’m not saying that I hate them for forever.
If I was going I would try to get vip I have been trying since 2009 to get them.

It's not mexican like the beef they put inside tacos, although it does look like it. To me it tastes a bit like meatloaf. The main ingredient is tomato puree (tomato paste), and sugar and red and green peppers. :)
