I think that's a question better asked in a testimony thread as it might take more than a few words to answer and it's off topic from this thread.
Actually I wasn't looking for a specific answer. Whatever your testimony is I'm assuming you've repented of anything you may have done, same as we all have. So why would you be unable to take communion? That's more of the answer I'm looking for.

But that wasn't what we were talking about. A friend can lead you to Christ, but only Christ can save you.
you spoke of people helping others get to Heaven. Mary does that, but of course she is not the savior and the Church doesn't and never has taught t hat she is/was
what why does Mary help a person be saved. Mary is in heaven, like every other person that has passed on. So can you explain with Scripture how Mary helps save a person. I didn't grow up with this so it's totally new to me.
I understand (sorta). I have placed m yself in protestant shoes and realize they do not know what I know... although, if i may say so, i know what they know more/less bc at one time I was not "too Catholic" to say the least..

anyhow, I have experienced the help of those who have passed on. I have prayed to different saints and felt strongly they heard me. I don't always get exactly what I ask for, but ... sometimes I do... esp vis a vis Satan and his hideous antics...

And again, talking to Mary has helped me. It is hard to put into words HOW... But she is one of the only people in human history conceived without original sin. Adam and Eve ditto. As u said earlier she WAS saved by Jesus, but before conception. (God can do these things..)

Other than that, I can't say I know a lot about the Church's teachings on that. RCIA classes are available at most Catholic Churches Sept to Easter every year to explain these kinds of things. I used to go to RCIA even though was "raised Catholic" (not-- meaning, i was not taught the Faith thoroughly... had to teach myself a lot of things ).

anyway, I have to say, I am reluctant of late to encourage people to enter the Cahtolic Church. I love the OLD Catholic Church, the traditional Church. Today, the devil has infiltrated and it is BAD... So in a way nonCatholics are right to feel an aversion toward the RCC, but they do so for the wrong reasons. They should not let history, for example, stand in their way of understanding and more/less accepting the RCC... I know some of the history and it isn't half as bad as a lot of non-Catholic historians will tell you..

But secret societies have infiltrated the Church.. have for decades if not centuries.. and... again... the result is a very bad thing...

anyway... I suppose that is a sufficiently adequate answer..? :)

I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is.

Catholic law is very simple. If someone is in a mortal state of sin they can't receive communion. To us Catholic folk it is literally the flesh and blood of our risen Lord Jesus Christ himself and therefore we must be as pure as we can be to be able to accept it.

My parents divorced, so they don't take it anymore. I myself have not received it in 28 years and won't because I'm in a state of mortal sin.

If a priest, Bishop or Cardinal knowingly hands out communion to a great sinner, well they are not upholding their own belief system.

We were warned about this at Fatima.

"Take the Body and the Blood of Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by thankless men. Recover their sins, and comfort your God.4

So, God is deeply offended by those who receive Holy Communion unworthily, and they must repent of these sacrileges. The clear message here is that sacrileges against the Eucharist will not go unpunished. Someone must do penance for these offences.

hello. I pray you get out of your mortal sin.. whatever it is.. U realize u will go to Hell for it is not repented of, right? And of course repented of sins must then be fully expiated here or in purgatory so as to enter Heaven..

i can't answer for that person

but if a person is illicitly married (true spouse still living, no annulment, but now living w/ someone else.. that is one way to be in mortal sin
"doing yourself" is a mortal sin
pornography..
fornication
promoting abortion
having an abortion...

I have no idea what the poster is guilty of but thought I would run that by u

I'm well aware of where I stand and I am in direct talks with Jesus and God the Father about it regularly. You perhaps don't understand that I have only come back to the light in the past 6 months. I tell God that I am here and asked that his will be done and I have asked Jesus to lead the way forward.

As for the question as to why I won't take communion, it is both church law and my own personal conviction. I could easily walk into the local Catholic church and receive it, I'm in a different country now and nobody knows me in the local parish. But my conscience won't allow me to do so.

I will reveal this to everyone though; I asked God around Easter time 'How can I come before you? You and I know both that I have lived a life unworthy of your glory and I have much to make up for' I was woken up in the middle of the night by a presence (I would presume the Holy Spirit) and three words were spoken to me in answer to that question. They were clear as day and they gave me the greatest feeling of peace, but I had to go research them to properly understand the full meaning.

Those words were 'Sackcloth and Ashes'

And that is how I come before God now. I know that I must not ask him for anything for myself other than forgiveness and the way forward. I mostly spend my time in prayer for others instead. Whatever I do and ask for is in the spirit of atonement.

There is a lot more to my story, but that is where I stand right now.

well, u are apparently doing better than I thought u were. :)

I have been through a lot myself.. .the devil attacking me, accusing me of stuff I did a LONG time ago... sigh. But I spend time in Jesus's Real Presence that emanates from the Eucharist, and... strangely... He doesn't condemn me! He, the most Perfect One who ever walked the earth does not condemn me..

amazing... but mere humans accuse and condemn all the time... even though they are made of the same stuff as I... go figure...

Jesus is the only one who has the right or the place to condemn anyone yet He does not.. if that person forsakes his mortal sins, works on the venial ones..

anyway... As the Word says

Pray incessantly...

(If you dont the devil will get a word in edgewise..)

This will be a quick answer as I'm about to head into the mundane world of work.

I've been to Medjugorje in October 1993, when the war in Yugoslavia was at its very worst. Before that (Feb 1993) Ivan Dragicevic, one of the visionaries came to New Zealand and I attended his rally and what I call 'the day of miracles'

I personally, with my own eyes saw a sign in the sky as plain as you would see anything on this earth. I was also picked up by Mary and spoken to in mass, later on that same day.

I squandered all of that, plus many more gifts God gave me by turning my back on him and walking away to live a life of the flesh.

But no matter how hard my heart became, toward God, I could never ever shake off that day of miracles. No matter how hard I tried to rationalise God, the church and religious belief away, I could never reconcile or deny the fact that Mary, the mother of Christ himself had lifted me out of that crowd and spoken 5 simple, life changing words to me.

So, even though the light was very dim in me for decades, a persistent flicker remained. And it was through that one undeniable occurrence that my heart opened again.

A Pentecostal Christian came into my world and we started talking. I told her about my experience for some strange reason and it hit me like a freight train. Telling someone else about it made me realise every word of the gospels is true. For if I cannot deny his mother, how can Jesus not be real either?

Funny, I don't see any of that is scripture.
"And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Luke 22:19

26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and wafter blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27 And he took a cup, and when he yhad given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28 for this is my zblood of the1 covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Matthew 26:26-28

The Catholic mass version.

Take this, all of you, and eat of it,
for this is my Body,
which will be given up for you.

Take this, all of you, and drink from it,
for this is the chalice of my Blood,
the Blood of the new and eternal covenant,
which will be poured out for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this in memory of me.

What were you saying about it being non scriptural again?

Then you haven't read the replies I put up to the OP.
Well I was hoping you'd answer me, the one who asked the question. Either way, whatever sins we commit, when we repent, we are 100% forgiven. You can feel free to take communion. Your past sins are under the blood. You are free in Christ and that was the point I was making.

I am sorry - you both kinda asked the same thing at the same time. I am not literate enough to know how to answer two people in one post yet.

And yes, you are correct in that when you repent you are forgiven. But sometimes you are like a gerbil on a treadmill - you are running fast but going nowhere ie as fast as you repent you sin again. An example of this would be a couple living together outside of wedlock.

And that is what we Catholics call living in a state of mortal sin.

So thankyou for your kind words, but until this gerbil gets off his treadmill, my conviction leads me respect the holiness and sanctity of the most precious item of my faith.

As long as you know you are free in Christ. I know people who fall away again because they feel they can't be perfect. So I just wanted to point that out.
