btw i said insuting, not saying where someone is wrong, read and analyze and re read to make sure you read right
Christ called the pharisees and saducees vipers! Is that not insulting? Your very means of salvation used those words. Just goes to show that the truth hurts sometimes...

The thing is, sill waters, that statistically atheists are LESS likely to commit murder and, in my experience, are no more prone to all those other actions than are Christians. It's important to remember that Paul is writing to churches in Rome during a time in which many of these things were tolerated and even celebrated in certain circles and that he is not writing to you sitting in your living room in your 21st century western culture.

Want to actually witness to nonbelievers? Then show them Christ's love instead of trying to beat them over the head with your interpretations of the bible.

Sorry dude, I'm not going to be put on the defensive with these baseless claims.

I will quote scripture. I will offer people Jesus. That's just how it's gonna be.

I'm really immune to the guilt trips some are trying to lay down here. Like I've told a few others. It's not going to work.

I will quote scripture. I will offer people Jesus. That's how I roll.

I will share part of my testimony with you guys before I go shopping for food (which I thank God every day for giving the means to do this among other things)

You do not know me or where I came from. I was not always Christian. Actually half of my family is still Buddhist and I love them and they love me. My little brother bought me this computer I am using to type on and just randomly gave it to me because I stated I needed one. I love and have faith in God because I look at my life and see how His grace and love have worked miracles in my life.

My family immigrated here from Cambodia during the oppression of the Khmer Rouge. We came with nothing except a pair of clothes and a crate of Khmer books because my father wanted to teach us of our culture. A church funded our plan ticket and groups helped us to learn how to live here. For years we ate out of one bowl and lived by the charity of others. My mother worked every day and after bills had 10 dollars a week. She saved 5 and used other 5 to buy use kids treats. She has scars where some one cut her with knives, bullet wounds and other things she does not talk to us about. She taught us to respect everyone we encounter.

My father because of the demons that tormented him went insane and tried to kill my little brothers. they are still healing from that and would be mad that I'm putting this out for everyone to read, but I am honest and it is reality. Most who know our family know the story already.

My faith in Jesus is grounded in a personal walk with my Lord. the words of the Bible affirm the things already revealed through His words and the love of people in my life.

Other religions and systems of thoughts enslave people into trying to WORK for their salvation. Only Jesus says through His grace and love and sacrifice: "you are already saved, just come back home and walk with me"

I'm sorry that you can not see this and will pray that some day God will touch that hardened heart and lift the veil placed on your eyes and allow you to see what has been there all along: God LIVES and LOVES YOU and wants the best for you and this world.

May God's peace and love surround and abide in your hearts.

Every form of unbelief is rooted in a deceitful and desperately wicked heart (Jer 17:9) and in a sick head with no soundness (Is 1:5,6). Now God told these things to two prophets, so it did not come from man, it came from God. God also said in the scriptures that as soon as we are born we speak lies in (Ps 58:3) and every one knows how natural it is for a child to lie and to do some others things like stealing and doing things they shouldn't. That is not learned behavior but it is instinctive and in their heart when they are young and they get better at it when they get older and use it to get their way. If anyone wants to deny these things as being true then they are a liar and the truth is not in them (2Thes 2:10-12).

From our youth we go astray speaking lies (Ps 58:3) and there is none that doeth good, no not one (Rom 3:12). These things are said for our sake because they refer to all from conception and birth (Ps 51:5).

Ps 14:1-4 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt , they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. 2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand , and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside , they are all together become filthy : there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge ? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.

I think it is better and more intelligent to believe what God has said to man then to believe man in his best state without God (Ps 39:5), because even that is vanity and empty.

Defying the second commandment? Man, if i was on the wrong path and somebody told me where I was wrong I would consider that they did that out of love, hence obeying the second commandment completely.
if you are an atheist (lost sinner) who ever resists the Holy Spirit, you don't even BELIEVE you're doing something wrong.

Where has Still Waters told us why we're wrong? He has not explained why we're wicked/evil/nasty adjectives, he's done nothing to support this assertion. When asked to explain he hides and claims he shouldn't have to explain anything. He has given us no reason at all to believe what he says, he consistently refuses to, and says nothing in the face of arguments that destroy his position. He has only stated that a very offensive thing is true, in spite of all actual evidence providing nothing to support it.

This is the worst possible way to get people to believe, I assure you, more atheists will be convinced that he's incorrect than correct at this display of nonsense.

The ignorance of your assertions is driving people away from your god, not towards it.
if you don't sense The Holy Spirit convicting you of your utter sinfulness (like all men), and prompting you towards Jesus.....you're in REAL trouble.

nothing? no fear? anxiety? prickling scalp? nothing? guilty conscience?

I doubt that there is anything deeper to his argument than "its in the bible" Its amazing that its even an argument.
The same logic that has caused thousands to be killed, excommunicated and ostracised
Acts 17
24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man,25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. 26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27 that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, 28 for

“‘In him we live and move and have our being’;c
as even some of your own poets have said,
“‘For we are indeed his offspring.’

29 Being then God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. 30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”

I agree, zone. That's scary to think about...and heart wrenching.

Are atheists who come to discuss matters of faith with christians truly atheists or are they agnostics? I wonder...
Many in the body are former atheists. My prayers is that these will be also.

your not helping...keep bashing them, see if they will come to christ
Revelation 20:12
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

Matthew 16:27
For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.

John 3:19
And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.

Acts 26
Paul Tells of His Conversion
12 “In this connection I journeyed to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. 13 At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, that shone around me and those who journeyed with me. 14 And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ 15 And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. 16 But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, 17 delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles—to whom I am sending you18 to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

Acts 2:38
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:43
To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

Mark 16:16
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

John 6:47
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 1

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Acts 2
37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

Satan just loves it when atheists donate to disaster relief or volunteer, he just loves how so many of us want to stop the violence and hatred that hurt our fellow human beings, and he especially loves how we are less likely to commit crimes than any religious demographic. Our efforts to promote peace and nonviolence all over the globe make Satan extremely proud.
Luke 18
The Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayeda thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’

13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Christians have Jesus and the Holy Spirit to help redeem and help them over come. Atheist have themselves and eventually they will learn that that is not enough to overcome the temptations of the world
Christians are just FORGIVEN sinners.

Because of what HE DID, their sins are forgiven, AND they have Christ's RIGHTEOUSNESS IMPUTED TO THEM.

that is the same GIFT available to the atheist (rebellious sinner).

I also find it ironic that you failed to mention the very next chapter,
Rom. 2:1

"Therefore, anyone of you who judges is without excuse. For when you judge another, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things."
I don't know about you guys but I've had my times of faithlessness, I've stolen, I've lied, I've gossiped, I've envied, I've been greedy, and I've disobeyed my parents. I'm guilty of lots of things on that list and honestly so are pretty much all of you. So let's not all get up on our high horses just yet.

Lurker
you don't get it.

it's not OUR HIGH HORSE we trust in: it's JESUS CHRIST.

Revelation 19
The Rider on a White Horse
11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. 13 He is clothed in a robe dipped ind blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. 14 And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. 15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

I think it's bizarre that so many people (atheists and liberal Christians) seem to think the ultimate expression of love is blind tolerance. The world has corrupted our common sense.

I see parents with that mentality and it's infuriating. They let their children run wild, break things, knock things over, be rude and selfish, curse people out and they do NOTHING. I guess to the atheists on this board, they're just loving their children super hard. To me, however, they're being dangerously negligent.

I don't feel that way simply because I know God and He has shown me quite clearly what love is. I feel that way because I have a brain in my head and I understand simple cause and effect.

(Sorry if this post seems out of place. I am reading through the entire thread, not just this page)

I agree love is not blind tolerance of everything goes philosophy. Love is correction when a child does wrong and even if people deny having a mom and dad, that does not mean they were spontanteously born from nothing. everyone has biological parents.

Science proves life comes from life. It is called the theory of Biogenesis we have Pasteur and Redi to thank for their contribrutions to science on that field.

why do atheist believe that life can come from nothing? Life comes from God. It makes sense, it is what Science is continuing to prove. life comes life and God has offered humanity everlasting Life through Jesus.

Why do people reject a free gift of love and life? why are people so prideful?

Parenting should be when we teach our children to follow God's laws of Love, forgiveness, decency and help them magnify and grow in the fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, pateince, kindness, self control, etc.

we can not teach them self control if we do not also practice those things in our own lives. there is a difference between discipline and punishment. Discipline teaches and strives to improve and better a person, while punishment just reacts to an action that is deemed as wrong or sinful.

Hell is the ultimate punishment but while we live and yet have breath which is a blessing from God then we are disciplined in hopes that all will come to know and accept God in our lives and hearts. May God's blessings rain down upon you all.
