Matt Slick of CARM has this to say:

Roman Catholicism does not attribute divinity to Mary (at least, not yet), but it does attribute divine powers to her: atonement of sin; divine access to God, delivering our souls from death; her intercession brings us salvation, etc.

CARM stands for Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry.

Matt Slick is the owner; fun fact: he joined CC in May of 2020 :giggle:
So then they claim she is a mediator between man and God despite the word of God telling us that we only have one mediator, Jesus Christ.

"They" say a lot of things of Mary that are nowhere found in Scripture...

I make no bones about being a former catholic. I realize the decption that worked it's way into RCC dogma. I don't blame the deceived for much beyond just plain ignorance. The main problem that I had was the absolute faith in the established political authority and not putting the dogma to the test of the Word of God. In theory the RCC hasn't been much worse than many other political systems that masquerade as religions and forbid its members to challenge authority. What the RCC teaches and what it practices are two different things.

Don't forget that the Vatican is a recognized government with Embassies worldwide. They seem to thrive on tradition more than education and follow the doctrines of men more than on Circumcision of the heart. More on the letter of the law than the spirit of the law. For the most part, traditionally their authority is beyond question.

We should question it! Galatians 1:8

King James Bible
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

However Isiah 55:10-11
10 q“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty,
but sit shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

They do deserve much credit for giving many millions the true message of hope albeit somewhat distorted. God is bigger than misunderstandings and he knows the difference between a sinners true regrets and repentance and hyperbole to gain acceptance and recognition from the crowd.

Jesus certainly could have instigated a riot against the establishment but he didn't.

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (BSB)

Why do we act suprised

Nimrod & Semiramis, Tammuz & Jezebel, Asherah & Ba'al... Madonna & child???

What the Bible says about Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz
(From Forerunner Commentary)
Ezekiel 8:14-17

In verse 14, Ezekiel expresses his "dismay" at yet a greater abomination: "women . . . weeping for Tammuz." This is another pagan practice, a very sexual one involving ritual prostitution. Ezekiel saw them involved in a rite in which they were mourning the death of a Mesopotamian god whose myth said he was resurrected to new life, a mockery of the redeeming death and life-giving resurrection of the true Son of God. This vision reveals that paganism had deeply affected the women in Israelite society as well.
In verse 16, the prophet sees a fourth vision in the inner court of the Temple—"about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple and their faces toward the east, and they were worshipping the sun toward the east." This is obviously some sort of pagan sunrise service, in which they honor the sun more highly than God, to whom they contemptuously show their backsides.
Each abomination is described as being greater in wickedness than the one before. In verse 17, God asks, "Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit abominations which they commit here [in the Temple!]? For they have filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger."
These leaders displayed no social responsibility whatsoever. They led their society to become one of rape and rapine, murder and violence in every quarter. Yet these hypocritical leaders dared to return to God's Temple, retiring furtively to its inner rooms to practice their pagan rites "in the dark" (verse 12).

Charles Whitaker

They've been here since Genesis and will remain till they end up in the lake of fire.
Those in the past are dead and await their judgment. Those doing evil in our day have yet to come to a head and then be judged.

I think those names I mentioned are not dead but are most likely demonic. Like the spirits that Muhamed and Joseph Smith saw. If they were dead their demonic practices would have stopped. In fact Nimrod & Ba'al as well as Semiramisis and Asherah are, not were, demons.

Hi Cabrillo,

Thank you for the clarification. Yes I agree that the spirits influencing those people (eg. Jezebel) are still doing that today, but with different people who will be judged. The spirits, fallen angels will be judged by us when we are with the Lord in glory.

`Know you not that we shall judge angels?...` (1 Cor. 6: 3)

Thanks, I forgot that fact. It is however refreshing that we will have the recognition of not only the children of the almighty but also the bride of Christ and all who side against him will not only be disinherited but suffer the consequences of their sedition against the forces of true love. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We like Jesus were born not made. We are greater than machines. Angels don't have guardian people! ;)

It's all part of the ecumenism that's also leading the evangelical churches astray:

"Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, 'Come out of her [ecumenism], my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues;' "

The truth is 'they' allowed the Gospel to be combined with paganism in order to establish a internationally acceptable religion way back in the 4th century Hence the word catholic.

The word Catholic (derived via Late Latin catholicus, from the Greek adjective καθολικός katholikos 'universal')[3][4] comes from the Greek phrase καθόλου katholou 'on the whole, according to the whole, in general', and is a combination of the Greek words κατά 'about' and ὅλος 'whole'.

Before I begin please understand I mean no disrespect to Catholics nor their beliefs. I had been raised Catholic but fell away. Years later I was blessed in attending a different church where I was led to accept Christ into my life accepting Him as my Personal Savior and Lord that was 45 plus years ago.

Needless to say I can relate to Catholic views although they have changed over the years *we won't discuss my age :)* I only state how wonderfully blessed I am and continue to be with my life in the Lord. It does sadden my heart that the Catholic religion seems set by man's rules, whereas with Christ with have freedom in Him.

I'm really going to step out with the analogy of above: The president sets rules for us to follow if we do not we are punished in some way shape or form. I remember the days we united and lived our daily lives in freedom. I apologize for bringing politics into my post yet I see this with the Catholic religion vs our freedom in Christ. His love, caring, forgiveness for us. Praise His Holy Name, Name Above All Names. God Bless To All.

Who cares what they "allow". Jesus is Lord, not them. All they are "allowing" is for their eternal judgement.

Their "gospel" is "another gospel" referred to by Paul in Galatians and "is not a gospel". They have denied the Lord who purchased them.

Stop making excuses and justification for the apostasy. The Bible is the word of God. No one has the authority to remove any word from the Bible or to add any word to the Bible. If the "Pope" does this he has denied the sovereign Lord, the very source for any authority to anyone claiming to represent the Lord. You cannot deny the Lord Jesus and still claim to have authority because you represent Jesus.

Please don't confuse my understanding of RCC history lead anyone to think that I was defending the Vatican. I'm basically Ana-baptist and we separated from the RCC before the schism that divided the Roman church from the Greek (Eastern) orthodox in 1045. It was mainly over infant baptism and the authority of the Pope. We were nearly forgotten (wiped out) till Menno Simons started the Dutch reformed movement in the mid 16th century.

the Anabaptists did indeed reject the medieval sacramental system along with the Pope (co Britanica) and the authority of the Church in Rome. He ordered us to be executed. There is no evidence that Simon/Peter was ever in Rome or had the authority to declare or undeclare sins nor change the Sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday.

Jesus is still the only Lord of his church.

Many that are into end times prophecy believe that the Whore of Babylon and the city of seven hills from rev 17 is the Vatican.

I consider the one world religion foolish talk. The antichrist who is to come is not about a one world religion but domination and he himself wanting to be god. Can you imagine taking the religions of the world and making them one.

I agree it's difficult to find specific scriptures that point to a one-world religion; however, we do find evidence of a one-world order. Though there may not be clear scriptures concerning a one-world religion, all one has to do is open their eyes to what's going on around them. Ecumenism is everywhere.

I agree though, when the Antichrist arises he himself will demand all worship.

The antichrist sets up the abomination of desolation in the temple.

15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—

During the Tribulation people either worship God or they worship idols and demons

Revelation 9:20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.

All the inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast

Revelation 13:8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.
