The scriptures say that we are saved by grace through faith

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

I have heard people say they are saved by grace, which is putting the cart before the horse.

Grace is the gift we get for believing the gospel.

It has to be "through faith" first.

Faith in what ?

Having believed the gospel I am saved and sealed.

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

The moment a sinner hears and believes Paul's gospel they are saved and sealed with the holy Spirit.

1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

God has made it that simple.

I have believed 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 to be saved.

btw, @Hann57,

Do you believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ?

If not, who do you believe is the Christ?

Do you believe that he has not come yet?

Who else, besides Jesus, fits the criteria that He died for our sins according to the scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures?

to be honest I am curious as to what he really believes. He seems to worship Paul not Christ as every time I tell him I believe in the gospel that is the testament of Jesus Christ which anyone who would know what Paul taught is that Christ died and rose again for our salvation anyone who believes in Christ for their salvation is saved yet he seems to think Paul teaches a different gospel and that is the gospel that saves. I mean maybe you can understand better I have been sick the past week so maybe my head is just to hazy to understand him

What is faith? Is it just believing in Jesus as Savior and God or is faith more than that? Does true faith require living one's life according to Jesus' teachings? So, what is faith. Does believing in the Gospel mean that you believe that it's true or does believing in the Gospel mean that you live your life by the teachings of the Gospel? So, what is faith, what is belief?

In one of Paul’s teachings to the Corinthians, he invited them to be his followers as he himself was a follower of Christ (see 1 Corinthians 11:1). This is a sincere and valid invitation from Paul’s time until today: to be a follower of Christ.

yeah to follow Christ is what Peter, Paul , John , Mary , Priscilla and Aquila , barnabus ect it’s what it means to be a Christian

a “disciple “ of Jesus Christ and believer of the gospel he preached about his eternal kingdom , life after death , having no condemnation ect Paul is a witness that Jesus is the son of God.

“And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭9:18, 20‬ ‭

what Paul was testifying to is this he was saying Jesus is the son

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God had promised the birth of the messiah long before a man child born of a virgin

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So Paul is witnessing this

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:21-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He testifies here under oath of what it is he preached and why the Jews wanted to kill him

“Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea,

and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.

Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead,

and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:19-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

even Moses and the prophets were preaching about the gospel Paul is witnessing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the prior scriptures of Moses and the prophets.

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:

and they are they which testify of me.

And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:39-40‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The gospel is thier witness of faith about the messiah coming to Pass. Paul was saying Jesus is the messiah he died and rose like the scripture told us it’s him it’s the lord . So let us all follow him like he said to do.

and yes the apostles are all Perfect examples of how to follow
Christ but they are always saying “ it’s not about me the apostle , it’s all
About Jesus the lord “

there should t be any question of who a Christian is a disciple of Paul’s saying I’m following Jesus so follow my example. He says it a lot that his life was an example for the church but , his life was a constant struggle and accusation against him he wasn’t like us he had a life of suffering like Jesus did when he converted and was executed by Nero for his faith in Jesus

the apostles are special witnesses and elected judges by Jesus to carry out his earthly ministry and bring it to the world. Like Jesus they performed miracles Peter and Paul rose the dead John did healings ect . But also like Jesus they were persecuted and hated by jew and Roman and suffered greatly mostly dying terrible deaths

but they established the church and scripture

“…..And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭11:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus is the good teacher we’re all wanting to learn from him and follow his ways because as Paul makes clear

“For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:4-5‬ ‭

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭

The resurrection as prophecied also means he’s the judge

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:30-31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus death and resurrection was written but so was his everlasting word of life to at we have to accept his judgements ect

If you ask people if they have the Holy Spirit, most people will say they don't have the Holy Spirit. Reason why is because most of the world's population are nonelects and they don't have freedom from sin.

I had a conversation with him via PM and when the subject came up of whether or not Jesus is the Christ, he could not answer that question in the affirmative. I have asked the same question of him in many of his threads since; and he is still unable to confess that Jesus is the Christ. Maybe he will come on record today concerning this.

But I brought up to him what it says in 1 John 5:1; and he seems to think that that is not a valid scripture; since it is a non-Pauline scripture.

Then it would seem that he has no regard to Jesus as the Christ and the one and only hope for salvation but instead follows Paul which if he knew anything about Paul he would know that would make Paul turn in his grave.
But usually if one cannot answer a question like that the answer they are holding back is made clear

I am certainly not @Hann57's judge...

But I know that he will some day have to answer to Christ for his failure to confess that Jesus is the Christ.

On that day, he will not be allowed to give to Christ a non-answer as he has done with me...

He will be required to answer either "yes" or "no".

Exactly. And still the confusion remains.
Maybe he likes to keep people guessing? I'm honestly wondering if he is just messing with everyone because he just keeps repeating the same thing, won't give a clear cut answer as to who Christ is and just refuses to see any reason with anyone. I mean it's true that we are on a forum but even so it takes quite a lot of skill to show your true colors yet have such an enigma about you.
At this point I just wish he could give a direct answer to our questions that would be enough for me

This has a touch of deja vu about it. Let's be a little more precise, because "saved" has become diminished in meaning over the years. Let's talk about being born again. Believing a set of facts about Jesus will not save anyone. I believed those facts in the way that I believed Julius Caesar was emperor of Rome. I was no born again. The facts did not save me. It was of some use when I heard the gospel as there was less explaining to do. That's all.

John 1:12 gives the answer: receive Christ and believe in His name. The word "in" is very strong in Greek. It could be translated "into" but that does not fit the English translation well. It's certainly not "believe the facts about....."

Many people raised in Christian families have a problem. They believe, but they do not receive.

Why receive first? It seems logical to believe before receiving. The gospel does not appeal to reason and logic. It cuts to the heart, convicts of sin and drives people to say, "Save me!" We are saved by a Person, Jesus, not by words in a book.

If you are drowning, you don't need a swimming manual to learn to swim. You need someone to rescue you. We do need to know the basis of our salvation, so we need to hear and accept the death and resurrection of Christ, His shed blood for forgiveness of sin and the fundamentals of faith.

Even the simplest cry of the heart, "God be merciful to me, a sinner", will get God's attention. He will save that person. Many people have testified that they've had an encounter with God then heard the gospel. Thousands of people were saved well before Paul was saved himself. So it's not "Paul's gospel" that saves. It is Jesus who saves.

spot on my friend I like how you put it I knew of God and knew of Jesus I had the story told to me as a child but I didn't receive him and a good example is a person I was once friends with he grew up in a very Christian home went to church even helped with it some but he is a well known atheist and said he never felt like God was real to him even though he knew the bible and went to church.

To hear the word is one thing to receive it is another

God has made it that simple.
It is simple to know that we are not God's who has control of the heavens, only God has that control. But that does not mean that we are to close our eyes and refuse to listen to all the many things God tells us about salvation.
