Sure, OSAS is harmless to the person who understands habitual, known, deliberate, presumptuous sin is unacceptable to God and continues to pray, "not my will, but Thine, Lord".

But, let's not pretend the vast majority of OSAS people aren't using it as a License to keep doing that which they know full well they shouldn't, and have no intention of repenting from it. They're prayers are essentially, "Sometimes my will, sometimes Your will, Lord".

At the mere suggestion of obedience and Christian "reasonable service", they're ready to fight to the death. What does that tell us about most OSAS adherents?
Seeing that you do not know a vast majority of OSAS that is just an opinion you can not prove.
I do not know a single OSAS person that believe such nonsence.

Why do some of you people that oppose OSAS have to resort to out right lies to support your position?

Acknowledging that Christians will sin is NOT the same as saying that Christians should revel in sin.

Why do some people NOT get that??
When a Christian continues both in heart and in deed to multiply sin in him, he is definitely reveling in it.

Just because you don't know any, that doesn't mean they don't exist. They're no going to grab a megaphone and yell, "Hey, look at me, I can do everything the Lord said not to do because I have fire insurance!" All you have to do is look at the lifestyles of those who attend OSAS churches. More than likely they'll say something like, "What I'm doing isn't sinful."

I agree but neither can you say that many do with all honesty.
In my opinion, a vast majority of those who claim to be saved do not a clue what salvation means.
I have serious concerns about many on this sight.

This is why I focus on love, our focus will decide how we act how we think how we feel everything we do. if our focus is on God's love if our hearts are filled with it then sin will not even be on our radar, I couldn't get overcome to understand this his focus was on sin not God's love his way of going about it was condemning not encouraging or building.
We are to build and edify the church not tear it down he did not speak in love nor did he edify he spoke only in his own voice and only liked you because you agreed with him everyone else he looked down upon he said he heard the voice of satan from me he was not fit to be preaching this doctrine, you however have a good head on your shoulders you can speak without condemnation you know how to debate without mockery or insults perhaps you should start a thread and teach this doctrine the correct way.

For instance repeated sin does mean sin in general or sin against others does it mean that we must be without sin or does it mean we must strive to not repeat our mistakes
I think you are having this misunderstanding with the OP because you are focusing on the how not to sin instead of discussing the subject matter of his post which dwells on the need for believers not to sin. We can discuss the how on another thread while we concentrate here on the OP. Just my thought.

I believe the Scripture states we can know by their fruit.
No fruit, no salvation.
Any person that claims to be a Christian and lives in sin is not saved and never has been.
Once a son always a son. A wayward son will be chastised by the Father.
He does not chastise those who are not His.
If you have never been chastised, you had better get on your knees and seek Jesus today.

the same reason I look to support anyone in Christ. I’m no ones judge and I’m not looking to bring people down who are escaping from sin , or club people over the head who haven’t arrived there yet

if you wish to be his enemy that’s up to you im not looking to be anyone’s enemy. If you guys don’t want to speak to him simply don’t there’s even an ignore button if what he’s saying offends you it doesn’t offend me I realize people all have things to grow in whether we think too highly of our self or whether we think we’re still servants of sin

I’m no ones judge so I’ll keep communicating with anyone who doesn’t request that I don’t speak to them and let everyone else choose who they wish to speak to
That is the mindset. I agree with it wholly.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit aka "the Unpardonable Sin" is finally accomplished when we've resisted and resisted the Holy Spirit for so long, we eventually burn out the conscience and quench the Spirit -- we no longer feel the Spirit's impressions as a man no longer feels thirsty after quenching his thirst. We no longer can sense His directing power over us...we become incapable of receiving pardon because we no longer feel the need to seek it - God can't forgive us because we're incapable of asking for it. "Ye receive not because ye ask not".
sounds like quite the process

actually, no

blasphemy against the Spirit of God occurs when His acts are attributed to the devil

aka Jesus lays it out straight for the Scribes...Mark 3

28 “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—

and what engendered this response from Jesus?

30 for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

no one has to grow into that sin, or attend a semester. you can do it real quick like the Scribes et al

here it is all in one revealing chunk:

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit

22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” 23 And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. 27 But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.

28“Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30 for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”
Mark 3

annnnnd....here comes the excuses and invalid opinions.....

that would be promoting sinlessness which scripture does not promote

scripture promotes forgiveness if you sin and otherwise, follow Christ.

if all you sin guides would keep your eye on the AUTHOR OF YOUR SALVATION, instead of the author of your downfall, you would live a richer more obedient life and not be so concerned with the perfection you can never attain

Look, Matthew 24:12-13 KJV destroys OSAS...so, take this cherished belief idol, toss it out, and keep walking in the light, lest darkness come upon you, OK?
booooring...

sooner or later a sin guide or two will pull this one as though we had all been discussing OSAS from the get go when no one made mention of it at all

so predictive

please do not hang out your 'local prophet for hire' just yet.

OH, Chastisement! That's a big word.
God chastises his children all the time but not all draw back to him. Some continue to go astray and perish for their ignorance.

Once a son, always a son?

Many atheists have "good fruit"; they're decent moral people; they do many good works; they're kind, loving, respectful. The only fruit by which a true Christian can be known is by the fruit of their mouth; that is, what they they believe and what they confess.

A strange interpretation I would say
2 Cor. 12:7-10 KJV says Paul has weaknesses caused by a messenger of Satan (a thorn in his flesh) that prompted Christ to answer his prayer, saying "my strength is made perfect in weakness." Paul concludes that he takes pleasure in his "infirmities" which seems to be translated from a word that means "moral frailty." It sounds like Paul is saying that he benefits to some degree from not being perfect due to the power of Christ. Take that as you may.

What do you see different? Please, I'm all open to anything you'd like to share.

I live and breathe these scriptures. As you have said they only have application to those who are elect.

It applies to all of God's chosen but generally only those who KNOW they are chosen and who understand what being chosen means [as opposed to those who choose themselves] only these tend to make fair weather of these precious truths.

If someone is resting upon God's choice he is steadfast and sure for God makes no mistakes, if he is resting upon his own choosing this is sinking sand for we choose one day and choose not the next. Double minded, tossed to and fro, unsure, unstable. Planted one day but uprooted the next. Saved today but come Christmas who knows?

No wonder such folks as these fall at every obstacle.

That's why I said "KNOW"
amen brother I never have doubted that about you can tell from reading your posts where you stand

I agree with what you had said I was just adding to it .

this part

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:2-3, 6-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

is not where one begins it’s the result of what you began saying because as you know it’s also a process Christ called any and all by sending out the gospel to all People

those who reject his calling and those who receive his calling with joy and peace in our hearts is the difference

we do have a choice that it’s capacity grows each day we have been made free now and can choose the good Christ has given us a choice in choosing us so we then have a choice between spirit and flesh as free men

“For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:13‬ ‭

we are free to use the linerty we have been given to serve God or serve the flesh it becomes a choice once one receives the spirit we can heed and follow or reject and stifle our own growth and destroy our own soul.

“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
…For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:11, 15-16‬ ‭

I believe we’re meant to be growing and following after these perfect things in our life though we will never actually attain perfection we always will
Have another step to take

It doesn’t matter how far we actually get what matters is we begin to recognize satans voice and Gods voice both are calling us as we recognize who’s who believers are going to choose the right path we become followers of the lord

Be holy and perfect as your father which is in heaven. There is no sin in holiness. OR is there?
are you yet holy? sinless? shining with the glory of God like Moses? you never sin?

Ephesians 4:24
put on the new man, created in righteousness and true holiness...we were originally created in the image of God and this is God's re-creation in His image...the new man is the saved man in Christ. not our righteousness as scripture tells us, but with the righteousness of God IN Christ Jesus

IN Christ we are righteous. our spirits are now righteous with the righteousness of God. our flesh will die and we will receive new bodies, but we are still on this earth

stop thinking of yourself as a sinner saved by grace or, for that matter, a sinner who has some kind of righteousness of their own

everything

EVERYTHING

that is of worth, holy, righteous and sinless is ONLY because of our life in Christ and nothing we can say or do outside of that counts for any sort of salvation or holiness whatsoever

why do you keep shouting at everyone over and over again about the devil and sin?

has the Good News been lost to you?

it's the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. if you are in Christ, old things are passed away and all things have become new

have you ever considered being a street preacher? you seem to have the volume for it
So sin should not be part of those things that should pass away?
