Repentance puts us in the presence of God.

For hundreds of years, and even today, Jews say a daily prayer praising God for his might, his kindness, his forgiveness, and many other blessings we have. Included is a blessing for repentance.

Inluded in this prayer called the standing prayer is: “Bring us back, O our Father, unto Your Torah, and draw us near, our King, back into Your service, and return us in perfect repentance into Your presence. Blessed are You, YHVH, who desires repentance."

When Jesus gave us the Lord’s Prayer, it was a condensed version of this prayer I only copied one small part of.

When our Savior came it was said he came to tell us to repent for the kingdom of heaven is near. Matt. 3:2 and 4:17. When we repent, we wish to be sin free, we turn from wanting to sin. When we want to sin, or when we are experiencing it through the thrilling books we read or shows we see, it is a barrier to the Lord within us for God cannot be one with sin.

Repentance puts us in the presence of God.
Psalm 139

1 You have searched me, Lord,
and You know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
You perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
You are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
You, Lord, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and You lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, You are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there Your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to You;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to You.

I am speaking of those who love the Lord and follow him. On this site there are so many posters who have declared themselves my enemies, not followers of the Lord who asks us to even show hospitality to strangers.

The Lord blinded the eyes of the Jews to the truth that Christ was the Messiah they were looking for, do you think that means that we should not learn anything from then? The old testament is filled with how God worked in their life. Could we say that they deny Christ so God in their life before Christ counts for nothing?

Even though they didn't recognize him in the flesh. Partly out of ignorance but continue to have faith that the Messiah is still coming. Will he deny them when he returns? Will they all be punished for the acts of their ancestors? Christ certainly has compassion that if they come to believe within a blink before judgment. He certainly has the authority to save them, I would think.

Judge not, it ain't over yet.

a remnant of them did receive him when he was born fulfilling their scriptures.

What they had denied was tbier own scripture being fuflilled from this

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14

fulfilled here

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:21-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

they crucified him for claiming to be the Christ. The issue with rejecting his first coming is he came to bear sins the first time his return is going to be about recompense upon those who reject him jew or gentile , not bearing sin again

of any Jew repents and accepts the gospel they’ll be saved just as Gentiles. But many are waiting for his birth because they rejected him when he was born that’s not going to happen a second time. Anyone on earth must repent and accept the gospel which I personally believe a lot of Jews will do just before he returns.

but he’s already been declared many rejected him in those days a remnant believed

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God. For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭10:20-23‬ ‭

it’s true of all People a remnant will believe the gospel and be saved the rest who reject him won’t be

this was spoken to Israel first

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we can’t reject Jesus first coming because that’s where repentance and remission is offered his return is going to be about gathering believers of the gospel and destroying everything else

“and to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe in that day.”
‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1:7-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

being born of Jewish descent will have no redemptive quality but accepting the gospel will redeem anyone

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This post has been changed from discussing repentance to judging the Jews. Christ gave us the Lords Prayer for our good, and everything in that prayer is a repeat of the standing prayer that the Jews still use, yet people are not even discussing that prayer that Christ accepted and instead discussing their judgment of the Jews for denying Christ. Why? Surely these people don't believe in tossing out the Lords Prayer because the Jews denied him?

To deny that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, is sin.
So there can be no repentance until one first confesses that Jesus is the Christ.

This post is about a prayer that was prayed by the Jews starting 400 years before Christ was born as a man, it has absolutely nothing to do with the way the Jews do or do not repent. If you would like to discuss that, start a thread judging the Jews.

We are to discuss that repentance keeps us in communion with Christ, as sin and wanting to sin is a barrier to Christ. That Jews prayed for this does not make this true or make it false.

What are you talking about blick ? Who’s judging the Jews ? Jesus Christ will judge all men jew or gentile. But for sure if anyone rejects Jesus the messiah they cannot be saved that’s just plainly written in the Bible.

if they repent and accept the gospel they too will be saved same as Gentiles.

is this now judging everyone to acknowledge the truth ?

Jew doesn’t matter any more gentile doesn’t matter anymore anyone who accepts the gospel of our Lord are his people. Those who reject the gospel aren’t his people I thought that was plain ?

If acknolwedging and discussing what’s in scripture is judging people none of should ever acknowledge and discuss what scripture says.

This place seems more and more like it’s just an arguing trap where everyone holds secret grudges against anyone who doesn’t agree with thier theories and if anyone acknowledges and shares what’s in scripture they are the enemy

I hope you have a good thread here talking about repentance . And how the Jews can be saved by rejecting the messiah who was sent to them

It’s very clear:

”Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.”

There is no “presence of God the Father” without first receiving the Son. BTW: This was written by John, a Jew in the flesh.

Again, if you would like to discuss the salvation of the Jews, please start a thread saying so.

Evidently the Christian community cannot know that Christ gave us the Lords Prayer as a condensed version of the daily prayer that Jesus prayed, for it was what Jews did, without hooking it onto gossip about the Jews denying Christ. They are NOT related.

What you have stated here is conjecture and not evidenced in scripture.

I agree that repentance keeps us in communion with God, but the first step is to confess Jesus as the Christ.
If one does not do so their prayer is not heard and is nothing more than empty words.

Is that what Saul did as he was traveling the Damascus Road, looking for Christians to persecute?
