“About a third of evangelicals say Jesus was a “good teacher” but was not God”

The above viewpoint is a lesson in futility. If a person doesn’t believe Jesus is God then they’re saying He lied. One can’t be a good teacher if one is a liar, especially if lying about the prospect of eternal life.

According to the Bible you need to believe Jesus is the SON of God to be saved. No mention of believing in the trinity or anything that was later put into a creed.
The Trinity is in the first three verses of the entire bible. In the end, you can see that Satan is making a counterfeit of it - Beast, False Prophet and Satan himself. If the trinity was not real, Satan wouldn't bother to make a counterfeit. Many people don't have an issue with the doctrine, but the term "trinity". If that's the case, just use "Godhead" instead.

There seem to be a large number of “Christians” today who do not believe that Jesus is God: ‘About a third of evangelicals say Jesus was a “good teacher” but was not God, according to a LifeWay Research study created for Ligonier Ministries. Also, 65 percent of evangelicals believe “Jesus is the first and greatest being created by God” a statement that goes against the Bible’s teachings.’

Also, there are at least nine “faith groups” which reject the doctrine of the Holy Trinity as held by Bible-believing Chiristians. They include Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Scientists, Christadelphians, Oneness Pentecostals, Unification Church, Unity School of Christianity, Armstrongists, and Scientologists.

So the question remains “Must one believe that Jesus is God in order to be saved?” And the answer from Scripture is a resounding “Yes”.

This passage from Isaiah 45:21-23 makes it perfectly clear that it is applicable to both God and Christ: Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

We see here that our Saviour is God, and we find in the New Testament that Jesus is called “the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13).

Did Jesus insist that believing in Him as God was necessary in order to be saved? Yes, He did. In John chapter 8 there is a lengthy discourse between Christ and His enemies. Jesus declared to the scribes and Pharisees that He was the Light of the world. Then He went on to say in verse 24: I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I AM [he], ye shall die in your sins.

The King James translators failed to translate this verse correctly. “I AM” is the name of God (Exodus 3:14) and it is capitalized in the OT. That is how it should have been translated in the New Testament and there are several times when this was not done. Also there is no “he” in that verse, and that is why it is in italics. Here is how the Greek in written in the Received Text: εἶπον οὖν ὑμῖν ὅτι ἀποθανεῖσθε ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις ὑμῶν· ἐὰν γὰρ μὴ πιστεύσητε ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι ἀποθανεῖσθε ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις ὑμῶν, and it literally reads as “I said therefore to you that you will die in the sins of you. If for not you believe that I AM, you will die in the sins of you”.

We find in Exodus 3, that Jesus is called (1) the Angel of the Lord (in His pre-incarnate form), (2) the LORD (YHWH=Yahweh), (3) God, (4) the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, (5) IAM THAT I AM, and (6) I AM. Jesus chose to call Himself “I AM” therefore He also said to the Jews “Before Abraham was I AM” (John 8:58). Unless it meant exactly what it meant in Exodus, that statement would not make grammatical sense.

This goes back to the fact that (a) Jesus is “God manifest in the flesh” (1 Tim 3:16) and (b) Jesus is “the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). There could be only one sinless Substite for the sins of the whole world, and that is God as sinless Man dying on the cross of Calvary, and being made “Sin” for us. The very fact that our Saviour was named “Yehoshua” or “Yeshua” or “Yahshua” (which is “Iesous” in Greek and “Jesus” in English) proves that Jesus is God. His name means “God is our Salvation”.

So why is it that in spite of all these Scripture, people reject the deity of Christ and therefore face eternal damnation? There can only be one reason. Satan blinds the minds of people to prevent them from believing the truth, and then deceives them into believing a lie. His ultimate goal is to see the entire human race in Hell. But the light of the Gospel is given so that people will come to the Light of the world -- Jesus. Therefore God will bring many to salvation.
You ask "why is it that in spite of all these Scripture, people reject the deity of Christ...."

a. ) RELIGION
b.) Hardness of heart
c.) Ignorance of the Word
d.) a and b
e.) b and c
f.) a and c
g.) All of the above

Right now, satan is in the process of counterfeiting this: Romans 8:19-21

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

yes the statement of salvstion is “ Thou art Christ the son of the living God”

but indeed he is God , what happens is as you begin to accept Jesus the son of God , if we press forward to
Know him we discover that Father , Son and Holy Ghost are One God .

The Father in heaven , the son who came to earth , and Holy Ghost who dwells
In believers.

he is one but the plan of salvation requires the three manifestations of the One and only God. Of we believe in the son , we are acknolwedging the father and will receive the Holy Ghost. The son is the key point because he alone can be known and manifests The Heavenly Father and offers the Holy Ghost. And the understanding that he is one.

“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him…. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:1, 5, 9-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He is God fully manifest somwe can know him and have eternal Life ofnthe son didn’t come in the flesh we would be like the ot worshipping a God we didn’t really know.

God is one he has manifest himself in theee ways only for our own benefit so we can become the sons of God filled with the spirit through Christ

father son and Holy Ghost in one bekng is Jesus Christ our lord and God. But I agree salvstion and eternal Life are found in Gods witness of the son. This witness brings the Holy Ghost and understanding that Jesus is himself God.

Ponder
Any REAL Christian believes in Jesus as the incarnate of God, we praise His name in every worship song, we ask for His love and mercy in every prayer, we learn about His heavenly wisdom and saving grace in every sermon. Those who don't believe in Him are not Christians to begin with, and Jesus exposed them - "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord', shall enter the kingdom of heaven."

What a large number of “Christians” today do not believe is the Holy Spirit, the third aspect of the Trinity. God is sitting in His throne in heaven (Acts 7:49) and Jesus is standing at His right hand (Acts 7:56), the one that is with us and in us is the Holy Spirit, that's the presence of God that overcomes the power of sin and points our hearts to Jesus. Being saved by the blood is just a beginning, that's called "justification", after that is the lifetime process of SANCTIFICATION, and that's the job of the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately most christians don't understand that, Holy Spirit is wrongfully identified as a "power" like electricity, some kind of supernatural encounter, or a ghost floating in the air - that's how it's translated in KJV, right? That's the real problem that needs to be fixed with more education and clarification.
Ponder on this: Matthew 25:1-13

There's a guy from the world economic forum who boasted about the ability to hack human mind, and he had this statement - "human history starts from inventing God and ends with becoming God." That is straight from Satan in the garden.

Amen there’s a really beautiful sequence of scripture where God looks down into earth from
heaven searches and sees that in all of Mankind there is none worthy , and No man to intercede.
he sees mans judgement has fallen from truth and our ways and sins testify against us all he sees
we are lost to ourselves without a way without good and godly judgement we have cast the truth away …

this displeases the Lord so he decides to put on the garments of a righteous man to come and intercede
himself for us. His helmet of salvation and cloak of zeal ending in a promise of the coming of the redeemer

this also is reflected upon in the book of revelation
Jesus was purposed from before the foundation of the world :)

Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. - Dan. 11:36-37

EVERY denomination shall NOT enter the Kingdom of God because they are man-made.

and faith in a denomination's (or our own chosen/ decided on) teachings won't save. the only way to know for sure what one must do to be saved is to honestly seek the answer(s) from God.

due to us presently only knowing, "in part", and even "dimly"... there are levels of understanding. so don't stop at one such as this one - (whichever level one has of it - in their mind) - which could probably be explained in great detail and differently by various people who are Christians and well studied and/ or with strong beliefs.

but Jesus said we must, "become as a Child" in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. elsewhere it is said many other ways. it could be that all of these things mean the same thing when properly understood - from a high level, or higher level - which one can only arrive at by following Christ/ seeking truth from the Source (God/ Spirit).

Jesus was purposed from before the foundation of the world :)
Amen he sure was determined by the foreknowledge of him , and was manifest when the time had come !! After the law did this

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

to this intent and determination

“to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:26-28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that we must depend fully on Jesus who is now manifest being determined and appointed from before the foundation of the world by Gods foreknowledge of
Mans weakness

“And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:17-21‬ ‭

Only after man had became sinners and it was made known to them by the law which imputes sin , couldmman truly understand the width and depth and breadth and Heights of Gods love and what he was going to do to save us

his plan from the start , has been unfolding through time and someday it will come to completion all because of him.

what man lost on the beginning and failed to uphold in the middle is coming back through Christ Jesus who indeed was fore ordained to do all he has done for us in Gods time

“and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Restoration tonthe beginning by his plan from the beginning

“And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

consider this

“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:3-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I and my Father are one.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus is how we can know the unknown God of heaven on earth , to the intent we can enter the heavens with him when we also leave the earth
before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬
No God formed before Christ and none will be formed after means that Christ is the only one formed by the Spirit of the Father.

Eph 1: 3 Blessed be the GOD and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ,

Heb 1: 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds;

Heb 1:3 Who, being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high,

I and my Father are one.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:30‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Jesus prayed to the Father that His disciples be one just as the Father and He are one. "one" does not mean being the same being but possessing the same Spirit of the Father.

NO - NOPE - DEFINTELY NOT

Christ was not formed by the Father = "Jesus is the same Elohim(God) that created all things from the beginning.

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made

Jesus was purposed from before the foundation of the world :)
I was referring to this sister ( the whole chapter is better but you can see what I was referring to

The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, And seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: There is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭14:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey:

and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment. And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor:

therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.

…And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.

As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭59:14-18, 20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it doesn’t change that Christ was foreordained from before time , remember God knew and knows but man didn’t scripture is him revealing his plan to us as time proceeded forth to show our inability , and his provision and also it shows that he cares deeply

Also, 65 percent of evangelicals believe “Jesus is the first and greatest being created by God” a statement that goes against the Bible’s teachings.’

Great post!
If Jesus were not God, then the Atonement would have been of no affect and there would be no Salvation to be had. Satan would love everyone to believe that dark lie.

Jesus was purposed from before the foundation of the world :)
Just asking here: You do understand that "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" was the purpose for Elohim(God) becoming a man in the form of His Son and that there was no man before Elohim created man = Yes/No?

before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Heb 1: 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds;

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You can tinker and explain things away but you can’t seperate God . Before Christ was born in the flesh no one really knew God because he hadn’t yet made himself Known to Man .

God was made flesh and walked among us , taught us , suffered and died for us and afterwards

“And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he humbled himself and took the seed of man upon himself to deliver us from death. When your seeing Jesus pray to the father , it’s because he’s teaching us how to be his children. His life on earth he became a man and humbled himself made himself subject to God because that’s mans place, afterwards he returned to his glory who is the creator himself who walked among us but many don’t recognize him

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. ….

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:3-4, 10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if you agree God created the world there shouldn’t be a doubt who Jesus is.

for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

by him and also For him you don’t really see or Know God until you see Jesus where the father son and Holy Ghost are found in one being

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬
