Water baptism is an initiation ritual, spirit baptism is the real transformation. For all of you who don’t understand that, just go listen to Carrie Underwood’s Something in the Water. There’s water baptism in a river, nothing happened; then spirit baptism at one night of desperation with pouring rain and lightning flash, there came the moment of epiphany. After that in the chorus, a new life in Christ.
I know I've heard this song/seen this video before but being dead in the spirit, back then, it had little meaning to me. Looking at it now, wow, this song has moved me in a mighty good way.

I thank the Lord for your comment CYN!

You're welcome. I thank the Lord for enlightening me with surprising sources like this to explain a big theological conundrum.

Colossians 2:11-13 NLT - "When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins."

Before I was Powerfully indwelt by the Holy Spirit, I Truly believed that I was saved. I didn't know it, but I was Spiritually dead . . . because my Sinful Nature had not been cut away. Furthermore, my behavior was the proof that I was Spiritually dead. I was horrible.

But later, I began to Transform . . . and believe me, the Power to do so did NOT come from me. If I had the Power to change, I would have done it many decades prior. I was unable to change. I cried and cried and cried that God would change me, for I could not change myself.

Thank God for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Beautifully written, my friend. You are in for the most unbelievable experience after you die. All sacrifices; all pains; all trials and tribulations . . . there is no room to even remember them. The Peace and Perfect Love that awaits you will be so incredibly Powerful, there is no space for anything negative or remorseful in the least. I promise you these things. Continue on, my friend! I believe in you.
One day yes I wait for that day with great longing and as much patience as I can muster

Agree
Which tells us that the LORD:
A.) knows each and every one of us
B.) has plans for us as individuals in Him
C.) has plans for us as corporately in Him
D.) no one has a copyright to the Holy Spirit
E.) no one has a copyright to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
F.) the Holy Spirit is a Person that makes decisions on our behalf = Acts 16:6
Water baptism is purely the desire of God for us to initially identify with the Death and resurrection of Christ.
We, who believe, do this as an act of obedience and faith in His word = Matthew 28:18-20
Water baptism cannot save anyone, is outward, is symbolic and is a 'one and done' outward act.

IMPORTANT: There is much more to CHRIST's example for us to follow then water baptism.

I (John the Baptist) indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

The GREATER BLESSING, by FAR, is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit = Gospel of John and Acts
I (John the Baptist) indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Aspects of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit are:
#1 Eternal from the Holy Spirit
#2 Inward-in our spirit
#3 Commanded by the Lord = Gospel of John & Acts
#4 Essential in knowing Truth = John 16:13
#5 Glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ = John 16:14
#6 Is an Essential Blessing for being a True Witness of God = Acts 1:4-8
#7 Is an Essential Blessing for our walk with God = Galatians 5:16-18
#8 Protects us from the danger in trusting religion by not seeking to be filled with the Holy Spirit = Matthew 25:1-13
#9 Protects us from blaspheming the Holy Spirit which can lead to damnation = Luke 12:10
#10 Protects us and strengthens us when we face death for our Testimony in Christ = Acts ch6-ch7 and Revelation 12:11

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts. = Read Isaiah ch55

PEACE to all who call upon the Name above all Names = Jesus the Christ = Yashua HaMoshiach

Imagination is how God becomes himself, like flesh and blood is son male and female then becomes father of life your self with mother shadows of spirit that's not two who return to dusk. Death is shadows.

You said: "Receiving the Holy Spirit in receiving eternal life and Holy Spirit baptism are not the same thing."
AGREE AGREE AGREE

God has declared (and has not revoked) = the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for ALL Saints who Believe and seek with all their heart this Promised BLESSING.
Reject the error of the Pharisees and Sadducees of today who seek to place the Holy Spirit in the box of religion whereby they deceive the Sheep into believing only they have the truth and can open that box.

Now we know that no one can put God/Holy Spirit in a box - but the mind itself can be placed in a box and trapped.
Acts is ongoing and never was closed off.

Receiving the Holy Spirit in receiving eternal life and Holy Spirit baptism are not the same thing."

can you provide scripture as to why you would agree that there’s a second step to this ?

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

at what point is there any scripture of a second step to receiving the Holy Ghost ? And teaching that it’s different from receiving the free gift of the Holy Ghost ?

always open to those scriptures but I’m not aware of any and one would think it should be written if that’s the case

for instance once Jesus was baptized and received the Holy Ghost , when was he baptized in the Holy Ghost if not the moment he received it ?

or when was Paul baptized in the Holy Ghost of not when he received it and got baptized like everyone else ? Is there any event where Paul was baptized a second time with the Holy Ghost ?

Yes.
I can tell you but I will do one thing Better = Mission Impossible

Pilgrimshope, your mission, should you choose to accept is:
a.) Recognize the importance of the Promise of the Father prophesied by John the Baptist and CERTIFIED by the LORD in Acts ch1.
b.) Baptism by water is an act of obedience to Christ, is voluntary and a personal decision of faith by each person who comes to Christ.
c.) Likewise the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is also voluntary = personal decision by faith.
d.) Acts chapter 2 = many people simultaneously receive the Baptism = because of (a) and (c) = they were seeking it.
e.) Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."
f.) Not every Believer will be Baptized in the Holy Spirit because of unbelief, fear, ingrained erroneous teaching(religion).
g.) Acts has the answer in "plain sight" and verifies (f)
h.) Your heart must engage = Treasure Find = ask the Lord to reveal the connection of Matt ch3, Gospel of John, Acts, 1 Cor
i.) Intellect alone is unable to resolve this, therefore you need this = "with God all things are possible".

I was just wondering if there’s any scripture that talks about it though ?

“This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:2-

Is it based on this ?

“he said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭19:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

they hadn’t received the Holy Ghost because you can’t receive what you didn’t hear and believe like these folks

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:44-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’m asking if there are any scriptures explaining about how that’s different from being baptized in the spirit ? Or is being baptized in the spirit another way of talking about receiving the spirit through faith ?

let it be done on earth as it is in heaven

water baptism is done on earth to agree with the pouring out of the Holy Ghost from heaven , it is an agreement of what’s happened in heaven it’s act of faith

“Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

they are one brother the only thing we can do is hear about baptism for remission of sins and act in faith . The Holy Ghost is a free gift to a believer who hears the gospel it’s one promise

it’s one baptism there’s only one we act in baptism of water God does the baptizing of the spirit because we believed his promise of receiving the Holy Ghost. All we can do is hear and believe and act on what we can act upon

water baptism has always been for remission of sins , it works because Jesus shed his blood to remit our sins and we believe , faith is when we believe that promise and act upon it the Holy Ghost comes from that promise of the hearing of faith then we act in faith.

Follow the guidelines of Post #70 to see the complete picture.

Otherwise, just like the pre-trib error, we only see thru see isolated scriptures that verirify what we want to believe.

Just as those scriptures you are quoting.
Do you not realize that Paul was writing to Believers who most of them were Baptized in HS7.
God will not force the Baptism of HS7 upon anyone.

"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Ephesians 4: 4-6

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. - Matt ch3

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts ch1

Now, either there are two completely separate baptisms or:

a.) John the Baptist spoke in error and was confused = Matt 3:11
b.) Apostle Paul spoke in error = Eph 4:4-6
c.) the LORD spoke in error = Acts (all of it)
d.) you believe what you pick and choose from the Bible

g.) form a religion for those who doubt and call it "cessation of Gifts"
h.) hear from God what the Spirit says:
Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace and not by foods of no value to those devoted to them. We have an altar from which those who serve at the tabernacle have no right to eat.

***Are you living 2,000 years ago where the Baptism of the Holy Spirit was the teaching of Christ and the Apostles
or
are you living beyond that point where, for the past 2,000 years, massive deception and division has been unleashed in the world and upon His Church.
What was taught by the Apostles back then is considered "strange teachings" by many in the churches today.***

In order for sin to be imputed it takes two or three witnesses at the law to agree

“One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭19:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In order for sin to be remitted it takes the agreement of the witnesses

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Water

“John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭

agrees with blood

“for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and spirit

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭

“And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:48‬ ‭

“; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins…
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:2KJV‬‬

it’s not complex at all brother it’s all written plainly unless we come to the conclusion that John the Baptist was practicing a false baptism and not the one baptism , which agrees with the blood and the spirit . It’s simple

“This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus was baptized in water received the spirit from heaven and shed his blood for the same purpose given To us the water and blood agree in one statement the remission of our sins , and offer the gift of the spirit

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s as simple As what’s written.

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the blood is what Jesus shed later that is the agreement of water and spirit. Three witnesses all Agree to One baptism

AGREE = at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.”
Deuteronomy‬ ‭19:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Witness #1 = John the Baptist: "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

Witness #2 = JESUS : And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem,
but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said,you have heard from Me;
for John truly baptized with water,
but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Two baptisms = a.) water baptism .) Spirit baptism

Most christians have received the baptism by water - not all christians have been baptised in the Holy Spirit.
Acts points this out.

Witness #3 = Apostle Peter: "Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. "

AFTER Peter bore witness to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit he said this: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

AFTER Witness #1 John the Baptist said there is a Second Baptism coming
AFTER Witness #2 the LORD said there is a Second Baptism coming
AFTER Witness #3 the Apostle Peter said there is a Second Baptism coming = ye shall receive

The Holy Spirit is with every Believer = "flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven."
The Holy Spirit is how the Father reveals Christ to us.
The Holy Spirit is who Christ = all whom the Father calls.

Keep in mind that it were the Apostles who were baptised in the Holy Spirit bearing WITNESS to the Christ, the Word of God and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Two completely separate baptisms or:

a.) John the Baptist spoke in error and was confused = Matt 3:11
b.) Apostle Paul spoke in error = Eph 4:4-6
c.) the LORD spoke in error = Acts (all of it)
d.) you believe what you pick and choose from the Bible
e.) you embrace ALL of the Word in faith = not doubting,
f.) doubt negates the Promise of the Father for the individual who doubts
g.) form a religion for those who doubt and call it "cessation of Gifts"

Study the Gospel of John, Acts, 1 Corinthians = ALL of it.

ACTS is the KEY to understanding but you must ask the LORD to reveal it to you for if you rely on intellect and/or unbelief you will never see it.
Salvation is in Christ thru His Death on the Cross - PERIOD = No man comes to the Father but thru ME.

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

***Jesus is not referring to water baptism here in John 3:5***
HE is speaking of how we enter this world = thru water birth = the womb.
and/again denotes more then one Birth
of the Spirit = Born Again
that which is flesh(water) is flesh = born once
AND
that which is Spirit is Spirit = Born Again

Born once = you die twice
Born Twice = you die once

“Two baptisms = a.) water baptism .) Spirit baptism”

“And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s sort of the same as this in heaven the three are one

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

let it be done on earth as it is in heaven

there’s one baptism just as there is one God. We don’t identify God as two or three but the three are one. On earth there are also three witnesses that agree in one for remission of mans sin

the water , spirit and blood. There’s only the one baptism, it agrees three times to one baptism

“John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and of course the blood agrees also in one it’s why we get baptized because we believe this is true we’re agreeing with it when we decide to get baptized

“for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Read this and dwell on it as it pertains to our discussion in this aspect.

Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 5and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”

6Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”

8For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.
9There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
10For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

You cannot see what the three Witnesses = the Prophet John, the LORD, Peter said???

YES, there is one water baptism = Matthew 28:18-20 and Ephesian 4:4

YES, there is another baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT = Matt ch3 , Acts ch1 -ch2 and all of Acts

The water baptism and New Birth preceeds the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

How do you not see this: "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

There is a reason why we have Matthew chapter 3 , the Gospel of John , Acts and 1 Corinthians and it is not about water baptism as being the only baptism.
“The water baptism and New Birth preceeds the baptism of the Holy Spirit.”

the Holy Spirit is a gift freely given of Gods eternal Promise. It comes because of the one gospel that is what tells us of the water , blood and spirit.

No I don’t even see the three witnesses belnf John Jesus and Peter there’s no scripture to say anything like that.

the three witnesses are the water of baltism for remission of sins , the word of Christ which tells us about remission is the spirit , and the blood he shed for remission of sins. They all three are in agreement it’s what the gospel teaches about.

water

“As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee. John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:2, 4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

spirit

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And blood

“for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’m not sure where your getting that John Peter and Jesus are the three witnesses it says who they are

“And there are three that bear witness in earth,

the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭KJV‬

it’s what the gospel is all about the word of Jesus Christ , the blood of Jesus Christ and the baptism of Jesus Christ

the Holy Ghost is the result of believing the gospel it’s a gift promised by Jesus himself it’s something only Jesus can do and all We can do is receive it.

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭16:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he was talking about this

“This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:32-33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

this is the only way to receive the Holy Ghost

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:44‬ ‭KJV‬‬

you don’t have to first get water baptized look at what happened there after the y received the gift of the spirit through hearing and believing the word then after that Peter commands water baptism because it’s another of the witnesses that agrees to remission
Of sins

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:44-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

or the order can come the other way of one believes the word

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the spirit is the word of Christ that agrees to the water and blood of remission those are the witnesses.

the Holy Ghost is the promise of Hkd to believers of the gospel there’s no particulate order one can hear and believe and receive the Holy Ghost , or one can hear and believe about baltism forst get baptized and then receive the gift

the only relevance is that the three witnesses agree in one Jesus Christ. The water testifies to the believer who hears about the blood through the spirit the word of Christ.

The Holy Ghost is a gift coming from heaven there’s nothing we can do to receive it but belief of the gospel and we can’t baptize anyone else in the Holy Ghost it comes from the throne of God through the promise of Jesus Christ.

Brother it’s okay if you don’t agree , but no I don’t hear things not made plain on scripture I believe those things that are .

the three witnesses are the water , blood and spirit this spirit

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

this water

“And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:37-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and this blood

“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Those three witnesses tell us that through Jesus our sins have been remitted they all Agree that just my position though it’s to basic for me to part from it
