That's God's word....not mine. Why don't you address the Bible...not me. I am saying nothing. The scriptures are your challenge...not me.

John 3;16 won't work for you....because when does repentance come in to play....then?

Hello!!!
God's Word says that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and not by our own efforts or works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

And tell me what was it that the apostles and the rest of the church recieved upon being saved? if you noticed not only did they recieve the holy spirit but many did so beofre even being baptized many did so the second they proclaimed Jesus as their savior, whether salvation or resurrection only the holy spirit has power not water in no instance does water alone have the power to do any of these things.
Yes Jesus recieved the holy spirit after being baptized and many also became baptized but they did so out of devotion not because they thought it would save them or because they thought by any means it would give them a place in the resurrection. Again God is spirit he does things according to the spirit he saves by the spirit he resurrects by the spirit water is physical it feeds the physical and it saves only the physical

How one can you use the scriptures yet not understand these simple things? I am sure if you stop and think about what i am saying you will see where i am coming from, we are talking about the things of God here not of man therefore you have to think like a spiritual man not a mortal one you have to consider the heavenly things and how they work, if water was the key to anything it would be to sustain the body it does nothing more than that because it is an earthly thing salvation and the resurrection are heavenly and therefore can only be done by the heavenly it is just that simple if nothing else just understand that
It is amazing how the self indulging approach is presented ...why not just say you deny God's word.

We don't die and get resurrected after a water baptism. This means that water baptism is required for to be resurrected because a coming resurrection is literal.

Romans 6:4,5
4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

God's Word says that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and not by our own efforts or works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Out of context....Not true.........Christ gave His life on the cross shedding His blood as payment for our sins....... creating the ...grace...umbrella we are offered. Under which we can repent, be baptized and become eligible to be found worthy upon judgment, after our physical death...to be granted eternal salvation.

Further .......scripture tells us ...faith without works is dead.

Wanna try another against scriptures?

Geesscch!!

Sorry i am a bit confused you said we don't die and get resurrected after a water baptism? maybe I am having a brain fart but are you saying we just don't die after a water baptism because we most certainly do die and get resurrected after water baptism just as we would die and get resurrected with the spirit baptism at the resurrection that is coming.

"Works" .....is not part of the debate here...another time/place.

Apparent....attempt to play transference here.

Your point is wrong.

Don't you understand scriptures....faith without works is dead.
unless I am mistaken you said this isn't about works, and as you so well put it it is God's word not mine. So then please by all means tell me what this verse is saying if not what I was saying or am I to understand that you also do not understand scripture like me?

Which verse(s) says what you are saying? Yes it is God's Spirit that resurrects us for sure, though.

Then the first water baptism was pointless. You still resisted the Holy Spirit.
You do not know the meaning of the first baptism. I resisted the Baptism of the Holy Spirit for a number of reasons, mostly because I was bound by evil spirits that lied to me. It was also because my first encounter with a Pentecostal put me off. I had an occult background. He spoke briefly about a Holy Ghost. I knew about ghosts alright. I could not conceive of a holy one.

I'm glad that I took time. The Lord has kept me from the spiritual pride that many Pentecostals suffer. That was another turn off for me. I observed the lifestyle of some of these "spiritual giants" and I was unimpressed. For a long time, all I could see was emotionalism masquerading as spirituality. When I received the Holy Spirit, I was on my own, Christmas Eve 1974. No music playing, no emotional preaching, just Jesus and me.

There was a jonny depp trial? man i really need to start watching the news again
It's going on right now Brother. Wow, he and his wife had quite a crazy life. I don't know why these guys would want to expose themselves like they are instead of just sucking it up and dealing with things maturely. Crazy.

I said a lot of things. What is it exactly you want clarification on? I didn't think you were being serious. That's why I didn't answer you. Please let me understand you now. You think we actually die and get resurrected after water baptism?

He was a good man that didn't care much for his liver.
My favorite saying of his: "Life is short, but it's Wide!"
I had a bother in law pass from liver failure. He was offered a liver transplant on condition that he stop drinking, but, he refused. He was in palliative care and he and my sister were not telling their two daughters how serious it was. Another sister let our nieces know if they ever wanted to see their dad alive again, they'd better go now (they were in a different country). He passed a couple of months later, and his children did get to see him before he passed.

The wide path. Wow. I was on it once. "Once" lasted decades. Thank God for His long-suffering, mercy and grace.

I hear Pastors saying "YOU MUST GET BAPTIZED IN WATER!"

I say "OR WHAT?"
There's plenty of commands to get water baptized. I guess it just demonstrates a lack of faith on your part if you obstinately reject it. I am not sure what that means, but it's between you and God.

1 Pet 3:21 says Baptism now saves us. "and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It [Baptism] saves you by the Resurrection of Jesus Christ," (1 Pet 3:21)

It is Baptism that makes us New Creatures in Christ. In Baptism, we share in Christ's Life, Death and Resurrection. We die to sin and are born again to New Life. If you read an early Church Father like St. Augustine, it is clear the Early Church held this view of Baptism also.

Faith and Baptism go together. Suppose a person, after being baptized, sins and loses faith, baptism won't save him. But if he comes back to Christ, by confessing his sins, he can return to God's Grace. The first time, however, Baptism truly washes away sins in God's Name.

"And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his Name.’ (Acts 22:16)
