On a suggestion from a friend of mine I started watching this series.

So...I have thoughts but wanted to hear yours on the subject.

What do you think of the series?
John so when are you going to tell me your thoughts?
‘After you’ve watched THIS show? :)

I only see a small handful of critics that are blasting it. It makes me wonder their agenda.

Also, I haven't done 'shame' for quite a few years so I'll have to pass on that one, thanks to Jehovah, God of Love.
Excuse my plainness of speech, but if you or anybody else believes this unscriptural garbage, then you should be ashamed.

After all, it's godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and we're supposed to be those who study to show ourselves approved unto God, as workmen that need not to be ashamed, as we rightly divide the word of truth.

This GARBAGE is far from a right dividing of God's word. In fact, it stands in direct opposition to God's word in many places...some of which I've already provided links to.

I cannot speak for anybody else, but as far as my own personal agenda is concerned, it's unashamedly to uphold the integrity of the word of God while seeking to keep people from following "another Jesus".

Anyhow, sad to say, this thread will inevitably go the same route that so many other threads here have gone in the past.

You know, "Christians" defending outright lies, while questioning the motives of those who actually stand for the truth.

C'est la vie.

I've shared several times in this thread.
Ah yes sorry, there were too many posts too quickly for me so I do see your responses now.
‘Seems like you’re 50/50.

This series has done so well, that even atheists are impressed.

I wonder where it was shot
Obviously not on location

I only watched the first two episodes so cant comment on the entire series

I think like anything it maybe over dramatised it. For example the lame shepherd or goatherd that was dragging the kid around by the neck...I dont think that would have happened if he was really lame he would have been resting or it would worsen his injury.

Very much an american interpretation...I persnally didnt really find it believable, but good try.

It’s shot in Utah and Texas so far...I think.

The "little less than diety" of Jesus is disconcerting to me.

Jesus talked like there was a conversation going on in his head and He was two sentences ahead of everyone else.

And He spoke metaphorically often when others were speaking specifically.

Jesus worked a relentless schedule...often until exhaustion.

So, I have to get up for work in a few hours, and the Lord literally just awoke me from my sleep with this realization:

"And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him." (Matthew 9:9)

MATTHEW WASN'T EVEN CALLED TO FOLLOW JESUS UNTIL AFTER THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT HAD BEEN PREACHED (MATTHEW CHAPTERS 5 THROUGH 7), AND THIS HERETIC HAS MATTHEW REWRITING THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT AS ONE OF JESUS' DISCIPLES.

Got it, yet?!?

As I've been saying all along, "The Chosen" is a pile of Satanically-inspired TRASH!

Well, back to bed for me...

One of the other things about Jesus's teaching sermons....

They are poetic, pithy and catchy. They are earworms that won't leave your head. They are having a difficult time trying to get that across too.

And the whole Egyptian woman thing.

Ok, Jesus didn't talk with Gentiles. Never!

As a schmeekah rabbi it was forbidden. Messengers and intermediaries were used to accomplish anytime this did happen.

and every thing you have ever said or written about the Lord of Bible is 100% correct? Some one might object to the use of old English Jesus did not speak .

I enjoy watching many of the chosen episodes. Sometimes I liked how Jesus was protrayed. Other times I disagreed with how Jesus was protrayed.

A personal favorite scene of mine was Jesus with Mary Magdalene in the first episode of the first season where Jesus is shown healing Mary and embraces her in his arms. Probably for me the most powerful scene in the series that I have watched so far.

Then there were some scenes I didn't care for. One scene it felt in my opinion that Jesus was protrayed as being overly harsh with a couple of his disciples. In another scene for me it felt like Jesus was protrayed as speaking with sarcasm and rudeness. There are other parts I didn't care for as well.

It is a pretty well made show and entertaining. The show the chosen is not Scripture and things are added such as dialog and plots. It deals with things that could have happened but might not have such as Peter being in a fight. If something conflicts in the chosen with Scripture, go with the Scriptures.

My favorite protrayal of Jesus in movies is from the movie the Passion of the Christ.

A favorite scene from that movie is Jesus being shown with the woman caught in adultery. It is very powerful and moving scene.
The way she reaches to his feet and looks up at Jesus and then the way Jesus looks down at her with such a softness in the face and compassion in the eyes and reaches for her hand, is so beautiful to me.

My mom, who is a Christmas and Easter Christian, watched this show at my recommendation. She is now getting into the Word and reading to my grandma (who is NOT a Christian). They're talking about Jesus whereas before, He wasn't important enough to them to be discussed. This show is REACHING people. It's making them consider their souls and a relationship with Christ!

To me, it's like all the versions of the Bible. Some say only the KJV is the correct version to read but God can reach us through the NIV or NKJV, etc. JUST LIKE He can reach folks through this show, even if there are a few inaccuracies!

I love how The Chosen shows Jesus as a real man, with sorrow and joy, and also shows that He is God. My children watch it and it's not just words in a book. They get an image of what life was like back then and how Jesus loved and it MEANS something to them. Don't care about the naysaying, this show is a blessing to my family and others!

@JohnDB Actually Jesus did talk to the Canaanite woman who approached Him to deliver her daughter from demon possession, right?
Millions will continue to watch this amazing series, UNashamed, and a few will not who think it's anathema.

What? Jesus talked to a Gentile woman in Matthew 15. Basically called her a dog.

I've heard that the producer is Mormon, so if you wanna watch, take a grain a salt. Some tropes like "follow your heart" should raise a red flag.

Before my family watched a single episode of The Chosen, we watched the explanation of why it was being produced and filmed and all that. They are completely up-front and honest that not all who act or work on this show have the same beliefs, but that the plan is to stick to the Word of God as closely as possible. They're not setting out to deceive anyone.

if was true to Bible it would have been shot on location and all actors would have been Hebrew, speaking Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic of course, and we'd be watching it with subtitles or a badly dubbed version lol

Its just one interpretation like any dramatisation the editing choices are not going to please everyone.

If I was going to put on a production bringing the gospels to life it would be a four parter because youve got four different narrators, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and they saw and interpreted different aspects if Jesus ministry, in some places they missed what others had, or saw a different view point.

You arent going to get consistency if you mix them up or coherency, you are going to get more of a mosaic when seen far away you'll get the full picture. Thats very hard to do in a movie if you dont want to confuse audiences with a non linear narrative.

But since we already have SCRIPTure why not stick to the script and what is written ...you can flesh out the visuals but the dialogue ought to stick with only what Jesus said. The Jesus movie did this and stuck to gospel of Luke

if you havent actually read the Bible before though, you really wont be aware of where it differs in any movie or tv adaptation. But thats like with ANY adaption from a book.
