Okay, so I'm over my joy-eating zombie thing from yesterday. :) We've recognized the problem: All men and women are horrible. So, why do we want to DATE them? ;)

Let's move on from the problem to the solution. Where are we meeting the wrong people? Why do we keep doing it wrong? Are there better places to find the sort of person we're looking for?

... or lets just say, the real questions aren't "Should I be direct or indirect?" but more like "should I bother trying to talk to her or just grab her?" Which I suppose sounds bad to some, but when that's the reality of what I see.... I'm not the one that decided human sexuality and dating should be centered around drunken partying and all other venues of meeting should have massive awkwardness attached to them.

I am not meeting the right or wrong people. I am a homebody, kinda hard to meet people when you don't leave the house unless you absolutely have to. I need to make the change happen and get out more. Not to meet women to date, but to shine before men. I have had my lit candle hid under the bastket for too long...

That is key, isn't it? :) I work 14 hours a day on average (mostly at the office, then more at home), spend a lot of time at church (where there are no single guys my age), teach dance (where there are no guys PERIOD haha) and take care of my home/teen son/two dogs and 3 fish. I really need to get out more, huh?

P.S. - You're pretty shiny! Get out there! :)

people always say meet someone at church but that never seems to work out. Like there are attractive girls at my church but none that im interested in. they just dont have 'it'

Well, today is a new day :) One step at a time, one foot forward...

I am not going anywhere either to meet the wrong type of people. I work too much, go to school and meet myself coming and going. I need to step off the hamster wheel me thinks.

Here's the thing, we all KNOW we're not likely to meet a godly partner in a bar or at some wild party. Let's get real. :) If they DO happen to be there, they are probably the one with a group of friends, standing in the corner drinking a Coke and wearing a fake engagement ring so no one will hit on them. ;)

So...rather than focus on the NEGATIVES, where are better places?

Places I've met amazing guys: Through work, libraries, classes, through friends, and even one or two online (but incredibly far away).

:) I had vowed this week I would live at 55mph instead of 80 and so far that hasn't happened.

I once stepped on a guys foot in line waiting for coffee and he turned out to be incredibly nice. Our paths went in different directions, but I keep my eyes open in the coffee lines more often than not.

I honestly don't think the problem is the other sex. My problem is me. Oh wait that is another thread.....

I agree, I don't think the problem is the opposite sex either. That was kinda my mockingly posted point about the joy-stealing zombies. :) . If it were, no one would care whether they were single or not and wouldn't be the least bit interested in dating ANYONE. :)

I dunno, it seems when I used to try to hang out with Christians they seemed to gravitate to the same places as everyone else... and behave the same as everybody else when they got there.

Thanks for all of the kind comments. I have also met a lot of amazing people online, unfortunately distance is somewhat of a barrier. However, it is not an insurmountable one. I would eventually like to meet a lot of the people I have spoken with online in person. :)

Lets face it, there isn't anyplace where single christians can go to meet other single christians except maybe an online dating site, but that doesn't really count because its not an actual place.

Me too, King. There are lots of people on here that I'd like to meet. Unfortunately, time and money are always an issue. In some cases, it's relationship status. I wouldn't dare go meet a married friend with out his wifes full approval and understanding that he and I are just friends.

I was talking about how hard it is to meet other like minded christians with a lady from my church. She has a daughter a few years younger than me and a few other children as well. She told me that she felt sorry for us because there were so few single men who attend and are active in church regularly. I thought "WOW. It's not just me!" She said it seems like we will have to find some man out there and hope he is a Christian and bring him into church. It's very sad really.

Honestly, if a woman came up to me in church and expressed some interest in getting to know me better it would creep me out big time. I imagine the same would happen if a man approached a woman in church.
