How was the high priest that ordered Paul to be struck "a high priest of my God". Jesus is God, they rejected Him, they crucified Him and they wanted to kill anyone who preached Him.
Ananias was anointed high priest prior to Jesus' ministry. While he no longer held that position during the exchange with Paul, he was still a man afforded the respect of that office and anointing - as shown by Paul's words and actions.

That is a far cry from Liz Cheney. There is zero comparison.

Nancy Pelosi is not your political opponent? So she and you are political allies? Could have fooled me... I don't think you understand what righteous judgement is. And we are not equal if you are a female, but I guess you are one of these non-gender-binary types or whatever who thinks we are.
Perfect example of a liberal . Your judgements are good for a laugh. Thanks

Heard this morning she might try and make a run at the presidency in 2024. She won't even come close to getting through the primary process on the republican ticket. Maybe now she'll be honest and change party instead of trying to destroy ours.

It must be a north verses south thing or something because as she was loosing in her state she was also collecting almost a million dollars and gaining a large number of Republicans in Texas to do that very thing... https://www.axios.com/local/austin/2022/08/16/liz-cheney-trump-texas

I think the word in the Bible is very clear and not easily twisted. It never said "authentic High priest" it said "ruler of your people". Whatever you want to say about Nancy Pelosi (that is what this discussion is about, if you didn't understand that I suggest you go back and reread the thread) she is a "ruler of your people".

this would go well with what Paul says in 1Timothy 2

2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

I don't think referring to a ruler as a "witch" is aligned with prayers and intercession for them that we may lead a peaceable life.

I think it also aligns well with the Lord's word blessing the meek. This does not sound like someone who is meek.

Speak not evil one of another

James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Yes, according to his position and prior to the destruction of the Temple in 70AD he very much was a ruler of his people - and Paul, former Pharisee, offered him the treatment that position afforded him.

Has Liz Cheney ever been anointed as the High Priest of the Jerusalem Temple prior to it's destruction?

I can answer that for you - no.

Are you a former Pharisee who knows what manner of respect even a former High Priest should have?

I can answer that one for you too. No.

So, are we going to elevate Liz Cheney's status to that equal to a high priest?

Clearly I'm not. She's anointed to nothing. She was voted in by her constituency and summarily voted back out by that same constituency. That's nothing but a politician.

That Steve Bannon, a famous person I don't even like played a song from a children's show to celebrate is on Steve Bannon. It is, however, funny that people like him are doing that, and I don't have to apologize for laughing at it.

Call me slightly depraved... I'm Calvinist after all.

The liberals in Texas are angry about the new abortion laws, they are going to funnel a lot of money to Chaney in the hopes of at least splitting the 2024 presidential primary vote.

If someone is a convicted rapist you can call them a rapist, it depends on the situation and context, but it could be warranted and you aren't a judge, someone else was the judge.

However, on what basis are you calling Nancy Pelosi a witch? If she said she was, then fine. If she is a registered witch with a Coven, then fine. But otherwise you are speaking evil of another person. We are not judges. The minute you judge someone else you open the door for others to judge you. Who are you to say they can't? You speak evil of someone else you open the door for the slanderer to slander you, who are you to say they can't. It is foolishness.

By the way, "one another" is our brethren in Christ. Liz Cheney just doesn't strike me as my sister.

When she does I'll afford her the respect of a sister. In the meantime, I'll afford her the respect of someone trying to destroy a political party I happen to at least partly agree with.

OK, show me 3 verses that say Christians can call people a witch. It seems to me that if calling someone a fool gets you in danger of hell fire, a witch is worse than that.

I can keep showing verses again and again.

You claim we don't have "rulers" in the US so that verse doesn't count, you say she isn't a "certified high priest" so another verse doesn't count, etc.

James makes it very clear that "judge not lest you be judged" is a universal application because we are not called to be judges. We are witnesses. If you are a judge you are not a doer of the law but a judge. When we appear before the Lord to be judged we will be judged for the things we do, judging others is something we have no authority to do.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is universal. By doing this you are saying this is how you wish to be treated. Jesus said "as you have done it will be done unto you". Jesus is saying that this is how you will be treated.

Read my posts in this thread and tell me where I called anyone a witch.

All I ever did was to tell you there's no comparison between Ananias and Cheney... Not the same animal.

Sure you're free to point out that Christians should have Christ-like mannerisms, but Christ was critical of people so clearly we are allowed to stand in disagreement with others.

And if someone is happy Cheney is out of office? So what? Even I'm happy about that!

No I don't.

Saul agreed with those who were persecuting the church, didn't agree with that either.

Peter denied the Lord, didn't agree with that.

James was the leader of the cult called the "concision" by Paul, didn't agree with that.

Satan is the slanderer of the brethren, don't agree with that either.

You commented on Post #10, which was a response to Becky in Post #8 and she is defending her reference to Pelosi being a witch. Now if you don't understand what the discussion was about don't interject.

All I ever did was to tell you there's no comparison between Ananias and Cheney... Not the same animal.
Obviously in many situations, even most situations that is true. But I was using that verse to say that you should not refer to Nancy Pelosi as a witch. Again, commenting on a discussion out of context leads to misunderstandings and confusion.

Sure you're free to point out that Christians should have Christ-like mannerisms, but Christ was critical of people so clearly we are allowed to stand in disagreement with others.
I am in complete and total disagreement with Nancy Pelosi. However, being in disagreement is not a justification for calling her a witch. Like I said, if she said she was or if she were an official witch in a Coven then I could see doing that, but other than that I find it offensive and contrary to every word in the Bible.

And if someone is happy Cheney is out of office? So what? Even I'm happy about that!
That wasn't the discussion. I was the one who posted the link to the Wizard of Oz scene because it was playing on Steve Bannon's show. To be fair to Steve Bannon he did not refer to Cheney as a "witch" so it wouldn't be fair to say he did. He also admitted that this clip was "beneath the Warroom" and something his staff disagreed with. So even a political commentator had misgivings about that clip, how much more Christians?

My response was solely speaking to your attempt at making a direct correlation between Ananias - an anointed high priest of the Temple in Jerusalem - and Liz Cheney.

Why? That's an offense! Liz Cheney isn't anointed by God to anything - I can't even call her my sister in Christ without believing myself to be a liar in so doing. It's got to be an offense to our High Priest to claim she should get the respect of HIS office!

So I spoke, and I spoke very clearly about your biblical reference.

Liz Cheney went down in flames last night to a Trump backed candidate. She even hauled out her old father to try and push her over the line. Last I saw she has 30% or so of the vote. She can sit on her Jan 6 committee and rotate. smh Good enough for her, can only hope that's the last of her.

I didn't ask you a question. And speaking of judging, you just did it. Apology accepted.
