Moving photo software from windows 10 to 11

Hi all...
I have bought a new windows 11 laptop , and I want to copy my photo suite from windows 10 to 11 , but my new laptop has no disk draw , so is there a way it can be done , and if so then how?
The photo suite I have on old laptop is no longer being used by HP , so I cannot download it...
I know there are many photo suites I can download , but my one on windows 10 has a certain template that I can print 12 small pictures on A4 paper , and the squares on the template are perfect size for me to cut and use in my journal , so just seeking help on this matter...

I wondered what I might have to do if I wanted to use my scanner... as it has a disc for installation.

Though I have used my scanner so little. What is the size of the thumbnails you use, Rosemary?

Rosemary I can help you with this since IT is my job.
‘From what you’re describing it sounds very difficult to do but I’m not sure if what you’re describing is what you actually want.

‘If you want to move a software from one computer to another …. This concept doesn’t really exist. Because you don’t move software but you install software. What you move are Settings. And some settings can’t be moved or are difficult to move.
‘To acomplish “moving” you actually need to clone disks which is a time consuming endeavor .

So what you need is to install the software in your windows 11 laptop and if your software is on a CD then you need an external USB CD drive.

Yes , that is what I need to do , put the software from dick onto my new laptop , so I searched here , there and every where , and found out I need an external CD/DV drive , so this is what I have bought...

Now the other thing here is that Windows 11 has some minor changes in the background in how programs install and run and it also has some major visual changes which most people seem to hate.

So let me know and I’ll help you with as much as I can.

I read on the reviews that many people said windows 11 takes straight away to the plug and play , and it does not need any files to make it run...I should have it set up on Sunday , so I will keep you updated...

I also bought a SD card yesterday , I still have to work out how to have all my photos I upload to go on that so I do not hog the space on my laptop...If you have any info on how I can do , I sure would be grateful ...

Okay so the first thing we need to clarify is this “sd’ card that you mentioned. This is important because it’s very different from a usb flash drive.

This is an SD card:

And this is a usb flash drive:


Which one do you have?

To transfer files from your old computer into your new one, you want to insert the flash drive or the sd drive in the old laptop and copy all the files from “My documents” “My pictures” ‘My videos” from the computer onto the flash drive.
To do this open Windows explorer which looks like this:

and go to “My documents” and Select ALL the documents using CTRL + A then right click and select copy.
Then go to your flash drive (could be labeled drive D or E) and create a new folder called “My documents backup” and Paste everything in there.
‘Do the same thing for My pictures, my videos , my music and paste in respective folders.

Then take out the flash drive from the old computer and plug it into the new one. Now you’re going to do the reverse.
‘Select all files under “my documents” in the flash drive and paste them under “my documents” in the new computers.
Do the same with other folders.

Now you’ve transferred all your files and among these files should be all the project files you’ve saved under your pictures program.
If they’re haven’t transferred then this becomes more complicated because the program must have a different save location from ”My documents”

I have SD Card...

It is a HP , AMD RYZEN 5000 Series...That is what is on the front...Windows 11...

If space is your main concern than an SD card is not the right thing but what you want is an external Usb hard drive.
A great place to start looking would be Amazon because they have many selections and great prices. You could also purchase this in a store. I don’t know where you live but here in the NorthEast we have electronic stores called Best Buy. But you can also find external usb hard drives in Walmart or target.
The key thing to know when looking for one is to make sure its USB3. This means that the transfer speeds are very high so things like copy paste will be very fast.

For example the link below has some great options with Tons of space like 2 Terrabytes for like 60 bucks.

I looked at your laptop model on the web and you may have like a 120GB of SSD hard drive space depending on the model you purchased, so a drive with 2TB of space will give you more than 10 times the space.

Some computers and laptops manufactured during that decade, also had an SD card slot in their build because you could take the SD card from the digital camera and plug it directly into your computer and copy all your photos from there.
So the history of the SD card is tied to the early days of digital camera.
Because this is now considered Old Hardware, ‘The big limitation now are transfer speeds, space and the fact that most new laptops don’t have a slot anymore where you can plug in your SD card.

So, external USB hard drives are designed and have evolved to be primary backup devices because they have speed, space and universal compatibility.

This is why you should look into a external usb hard drive and move away from SD cards.
These usb drives are universal and you can find one on almost any store in the world.

So sorry to pester you , but I do have another problem...
My camera roll has stopped working...One time I could take photos with my phone , and they would go into my camera roll folder , but not no more , and I do not know why...
It actually says " This folder is available when online " but I am always online at home...Does is have anything to do with One drive ?
My phone is a Samsung , I only bought it last year , and it is always up to date...Samsung Galaxy 12...

So, in the past when you took a picture with your Samsung phone it would show automatically in your laptop? Is that correct?
If so, then yes this might have to do with OneDrive. You need to sign into onedrive in your laptop.

No , I mean , I would take a photo , and it would go straight into my camera roll folder , but this does not happen anymore...I am signed into one drive , but for some reason , no photos upload to my camera roll folder , it says its empty , and says it will be available when I am online , but I am online...
Camera roll was very useful because every time I took a photo , it automatically uploaded it to the folder , but it does not work any more...
