I've learned about the voices that come from the enemies of God and mankind. Some of them will claim to be God. You know that it isn't because they are speaking to those who are unbelievers.
The spirits lie.
Those unholy spirits often torment and try to stress the person.
They tempt those people to sin and to harm themselves and others.
Some who speak to New Agers and eastern gurus, will claim to be an alien, higher consciousness, dead relative, famous person,or God; these are all devils/ demons.
Many schizophrenics suffer from demon possession. I've been studying this subject recently.

I have never heard one through voices in my head or anything like that because I'm a saved believer in Christ. However, I have had several speak audibly through others. One tried to murder me without warning. I was scared until the Lord brought to my mind loud and clear as He applied it specifically to this creature. The Lord told me,

"Greater is He Who is in you than he who is in the world."

Immediately the fear left and I knew for certain what I faced was my mortal enemy. I looked into the face of a demon as manifesting through it's chosen host.

The Lord was in His temple and there was no reason to fear....only for His power to cast the demon out. He had the victory.
They can be unbelievers in the mind but God will know the heart better than the person themselves. The heart is where the spirit is.
People can live their lives thinking they know their heart but really they're going by the thoughts of their mind all their life.

God does not have to make vibrations in one's eardrums to talk to them. Being the omnipotent creator, He has a more direct connection to our minds. When He speaks to men in visions, for example, no vibrations of the ear happen. This communication is just as real and legitimate as vibrations in the ear. I think more so, actually. He has talked to many in dreams. There is no reason or need for Him to wiggle our ear bones at any time, including when we are wide awake. He is still talking. The question is whether or not we are listening.
Hmm okay, but I prefer that reality confirm the Bible. If It didn't I would probably be somewhere else or would have stopped looking. I guess I'm one of the only people here who believes God speaks audibly?

The picture of an ear that I used as an imagery does not mean the Lord speaks directly to to our ears. I couldn't find anything more appropriate. God speaks to our spirits not to our flesh.

In your opinion, Paul and those he was with didn’t audibly hear Jesus or you believe God/Jesus doesn’t do that anymore?

Acts 9:5-7
5“Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked.
“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,”He replied. 6“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless. They heard the voice but did not see anyone.

People can live their lives thinking they know their heart but really they're going by the thoughts of their mind all their life.
I also think that many think they are hearing from God and they are actually their own thoughts. That's what is usually the source of the false prophecies and so called "words of knowledge" . God doesn't give those to the the religious unbelievers who are trusting and teaching the law or some other form if works for salvation.

I didn't explain, so I'll elaborate.
Before salvation, the spirit if man is dead.
With few exceptions, he will not hear from God the same way as a believer will.
God shows Himself through creation, the Bible, and often through circumstances when they cry out for Him, often through desperation. What He wants them to do is to receive the gospel from believers as Cornelius and his band from Peter.

Many decades can go by as a pastor reads and studies God's Word, teaching every Sunday. However, they are spiritually blind and the Holy Spirit will not speak to them. This is true of most. Why is that?

"But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

Well....the passage here was recorded by a prophet but I don't know how that prophet received the words which are here reproduced 'electronically'. Seems like magic. The prophet probably didn't have a clue about 'electromagnetism' or even what he was recording. But I was more interested in the question I put at the bottom of the passage.......................................................
...............................................................................................
......................................................... .Jeremiah 16.......................................KJV

God Will Restore Israel

14“Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “that it shall no more be said, ‘The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ 15but, ‘The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.

16“Behold, I will send for many fishermen,” says the Lord, “and they shall fish them; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks. 17For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity hidden from My eyes. 18And first I will repay double for their iniquity and their sin, because they have defiled My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable idols.”

Verse 16 seems to have its' start when Yeshua was sent & provided a flesh & blood body. Yeshua referred to 'fishers' of men at that time. The passage also seems to indicate some time after the 2nd Advent and possibly 'hunters' being needed at that time. ????!!!???

I see that some of you here are making the distinction of spiritual vs flesh and are using poetry to link our spirit to the flesh.
So here’s a scenario:

I saw angels in a church.

Do you think what I saw was real or in my head?

I base my coming to believe in Jesus as my Savior in large part on my encounter with 'ministering spirits' as per Hebrews 1:14 and I posted in part that experience on this chat somewhere???? Testimonies maybe?? I did also actually have a visual experience but it involved clouds and I was very young (8, 9, 10?).

Okay great. As I mentioned earlier I’m trying to approach this from a reasonable/logical approach.
I also mentioned that we have to distinguish real cases from fake ones.

So the Question is do you think what you and I saw was real or in our heads?

I recorded my experience as it happened in reality and my experience as a young child, while vague in some ways, was almost certainly real. All I do is relate my own experiences. I am certain others have similar experiences and like myself were not aware of what was happening at the time. It took me 50 years to come to the realization of the spirit world after my encounter.

Yes I agree with you that what we saw was real and not in our heads.
‘Is anyone else here who would like to argue that it‘s all in the head? I’d be curious to see their reasoning.

Lol. No no . It was a real thing which was faceless and floated and was besides me, and then it went to the top of the church and disappeared.

You think this was real or in my head?

I think saying something is only "in your head" is misleading. Partly because everything
is experienced/processed in our heads via/courtesy of the brain. Also, for instance, only
Paul understood the words spoken to him by Jesus on the road to Damascus. His
companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of Him who was
speaking to him. We do not even know what if anything they may have heard.
It was received and understood only by Paul, in his head.

To answer your question, I think you saw something spiritual. An angel? Perhaps. That I do not know :)

I think it was real.

Last night I was praying and was told to remember the 10 Commandments. I don't even know where in the Bible that's at. I was told to turn to Exodus 20 and read. Guess what happened in chapter 20?

Imaginary or real?

Exactly. I agree with this and I’m curious if there’s anyone else here who makes this distinction between reality and their own head.

Visual not auditory seems like most encounters. Visual. Mine also only visual but substance to create visual effect was readily apparent in my experience. i.e. clouds are H2O + ? Indoors too H2O+? Mine was outside.

The reality is there is a Spiritual dimension to life that many are largely unaware of.
Then because they have never experienced it, they deny that any can. Like an agnostic.
Which is weird when you think about it, because God is supernatural and yet Christians
will deny that experiencing Him supernaturally is possible. I found this just now :)

In PSALM 93:4, David declares that “The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters…”
and in describing “four living creatures,” Ezekiel “heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of
many waters, like the voice of the Almighty…” (EZEKIEL 1:24). In EZEKIEL 43:2, the prophet proclaims
God’s “voice was like the sound of many waters” and in the only physical description of Jesus offered
in the New Testament, the Apostle John affirms “His voice as the sound of many waters” (Rev 1:15)
