Facebook has blocked me from commenting in groups. I can comment on my own timeline but not in groups.
I get a message saying you are temporarily blocked from using this feature
Typically when you're in Facebook jail, you will get a message from Facebook showing you which comment violated their community standards and how long the suspension is going to last.
One guys on Facebook said the same thing happened to him and it lasted a week.
Since I have received no input from Facebook I guess all I can do is wait it out.
If it lasts any more than a week then I don't know it's a 30-day block.
Have any of you here had this experience?
If it weren't for the fact that I'm on the admin team in an interracial mingling group and have been there for some years, I would probably just delete my whole Facebook account

I may do that eventually. The only reason I have one is because I'm on the admin team and a couple groups and I made friends from all over the world.
Mewe has almost no censorship. But it's not as active

Keep in touch with them through more conventional means. You needn't lose the contacts.

I left LI also. Its good did not outweigh its bad for me. But, I saved addresses and periodically message the people who were my professional contacts. Just gotta make the effort.

Deja view: The feeling you have seen this thread before.

(Yes I know it was someone else's thread. It's the same topic, thus still eligible for a deja view comment.) :sneaky:

Just curious:

With all the junk I've heard about Facebook, why have we as a society not migrated to something else yet?

I mean, the kids already have. But why have the adults not moved on yet? Inertia?

We could even all go back to Myspace. It's still there y'know.

MySpace is still so full of viruses it's not worth the hassle. Facebook is as well...but it's from the links and apps.

Unless you have an expensive computer setup with a bunch of software to keep yourself safe...it's best to stay off social media anymore. Besides....as Elon Musk pointed out....it's a bunch of sock puppets anymore.

Oh good. Glad I'm not missing out on anything important.

Y'know there IS an alternative to having that big array of computer safety stuff. It's called Linux. :geek:

I haven't bothered to delete my FB account yet... I just don't log on to it. I still will check it, about every 3 months or so, but it's like watching a soap opera.... the plot hasn't changed at all in 3 months...
My reason for signing up (keeping up with my small graduating class friends) is no longer reason enough to stay on it.
And, most social media is simply narcissistic brain cell destroying garbage, anyway.
Mewe has almost no censorship. But it's not as active
And, it will not be as active until people switch.... sometimes you have to be a "pioneer"... just do it. You'd be surprised how many will follow.

Exactly what I was thinking....
I'm not that tech savvy and don't want to be. I got plenty on my plate at the moment.

I guess something you said in your group was either interpreted to violate one of Facebook's community standards or enough people mobilized to report it to draw a temporary block.

There's a lot of keyboard warriors on the internet nowadays so it's nothing for someone to pass around the allegedly offensive post to their group of hundreds of friends and report it en masse. Regardless if the post was actually offensive, if it creates a perceived problem for a community, and it's misrepresented it as such, Facebook would likely accommodate them.

That being said, you're an admin of an interracial mingling group. Race is a politically and socially charged topic and people get hypersensitive about it even being discussed innocently. Can you think of anything you said that may have been misrepresented as offensive?

Yes.

Wait, do I have to choose one or the other? What kind of torment is this?

You don't have to be tech savvy. These days a child of four can use AND install Linux mint.

Or private message me your address (or a PO box) and I can send you a flash drive with the system already installed on it. I got lots of spare flash drives floating around, it won't be anything for me.

I haven't paid the money that will allow me to do so.

What I really need is a laptop that was built in this century. They forced me to get a new cell phone because mine was so out of date it kept getting error messages from the updates. So my wife relented....I'm still protesting the new phone but quietly.

People kept commenting on the brick I held up to talk on. Hey, I still have the alarm clock I used in Jr. High....and use it when I need to.

John, I know that you and Lynx are friends but as a Bill Gates user, I would not recommend Linux especially since you’re running a business (I think).

Unless you want to run your business like the Amish.

I got out of the bakery....
My partner started behaving extremely poorly. I wanted no part of that.

What on earth he was thinking was beyond me. I mean...I was going to somehow enjoy taking a 50% pay cut and daily derision and undermining because I liked him? Also I was 80% of the sales and all the positive remarks of every platform....obviously I was doing something right.

I took the position because I was a partner....as in part owner. Not as a employee.
The place will likely close by the spring. They don't have special food anymore. They barely have coffee and tea. No more special orders and wholesale customers.

They got nothing anymore.

And I don't get online that much except to research the information I need to. Gonna try carving metals into useful items....like clocks and other parts.

Well, I had some minor bruises and contusions, and my stress levels are pretty high, but I think I'll be ok......

So what exactly do you have to do to get into Facebook jail?
