Why is there a confusion over the formula to water baptism some use Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"
But others use Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.".

We can not just use titles in something very important "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."Acts 4:12 according to the Bible we must use Acts 2:38

There is authority in the name (Jesus Christ) this would be like giving out a check to pay at walmart but I put father son and student would they accept that check i highly doubt it. Another way to put this is if I tell my brother I just finished a game of basketball with Obama and he tells me oh that's nice I met the president of the united states last week. We are both referring to the same person just saying it in a different way.

That we have to literally say "in the name of Jesus Christ" not just say "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"

lol God sees people's hearts ;) it'll be ok. no magic words necessary

Just conviction of a person's sins and true repentance where the person turns from ALL their sins and places control of their life completely under Jesus's control and confess a true and saving faith in Jesus that lives not just in their head but in their heart that Jesus died on the cross for the remission of their sins and rose again and is now seated at the right hand of Our Heavenly Father. :) This is only able by the work of God and His grace and mercy in the life of people when they are sinners still.

"And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days." Acts 10:48

Here is another example of baptism but he said in the name of the Lord and Matthew 28:19 in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost and Acts 2:38 in the name of Jesus Christ so here we have three example but if we just asked any one what is the name of the Father? Or what is the name of the Son? Or of the Lord? Not many people would answer the same name as we would but we just use the name Jesus Christ there can not be any confusion. We can not have many Gods or many Doctrines or many ways of baptisms only one is right. "One Lord, one faith, one baptism,"-Ephesians 4:5

Because the Bible isn't isn't as clear as we'd like for it to be. Fortunately, God gave us the church to help us where the Bible is unclear.

Yes but my point is that not all churches teach the same thing

I thought God gave us the Holy Spirit to be our ONE teacher and comforter?

Matthew 23:9-11
New King James Version (NKJV)
9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Yawwwnnnnn....this tired argument? As if God is going to let something as small as the phrasing used to negate the heart and actions of someone who is honestly desiring baptism...

1. Water baptism is just a ceremony. It has no bearing on ones salvation. So it does not matter if you do it in the name of all three. or just in the name of Christ, as it is his death burial and ressurection which is being pictured.

2. Acts 2: 38 is spirit baptism not water baptism. There is more than one baptism spoken of in scripture/

The bible is perfectly clear. The problem is to many people read it with Closed minds and because of it scripture appears to contradict. But instead of studying to interpret where it does not contradict. They get mad. Or question it. Or just listen to what men teach about it.

That is why you should not just listen blindly to ANY church. But test all spirits to see who speaks for God, and who speaks for men. Study dilligently. And ask God, even ask some like you are doing here. And God will give you the answer.

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." -John 3:5. We can not be close minded and slack of with the commandments of the Lord even He said we must be born or water and of Spirit to enter the kingdom of God

the Holy spirit does not live in buildings or organizations but PEOPLE. you are not lead by doctrines but pastors and the PEOPLE who write those pages you read. it is YOUR choice and DUTY to test everything others try to teach you with what GOD's holy word teaches and what His Holy Spirit testifies to.

You your right, that which is born of flesh (water) is flesh. that which is born of spirit (HS) is spirit.

Whats your point? Jesus was not tyalking to nicodemus about water baptism. Nicodemous would have never even though this is what he was talking about. He was talking about physical birth (water) vs spiritual birth./ One must be born again spiritually to enter the kingdom. And jesus told him how to do it in John 3: 16. No mention of baptism in john 3: 16 because water baptism is not in question or even alluded to.

That we have to literally say "in the name of Jesus Christ" not just say "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
I believe there were confusions and contentions at that time as there may be today.
Some cleaved to a particular person, because of their teaching. There is only one person
in whom we place our trust, faith, confidence- Jesus.

Note also, in one case the reference is from the first person (Jesus) from the Gospel, and
in the other case(s) the reference is from the second person (Paul or Peter for example).
So your observation that they are in fact one, is correct I believe.

I agree, in the sense that Jesus IS the Son, and he is ONE WITH The Father. The key would
be to be clear. Today I hear many preachers not praying in Jesus's name -- but they say
-- 'in your name' or 'in his name' or 'in the name of the all loving one' and etc. etc.
Preachers are denying Jesus (again).

Acts 19: 1-5
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the
upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye
received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much
as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were
ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with
the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which
should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized
in the name of the Lord Jesus.

1 Corinthians 1:12 - 17
Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas;
and I of Christ
. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the
name of Paul?
I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Lest any
should say that I had baptized in mine own name. And I baptized also the household of
Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. For Christ sent me not to
baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should
be made of none effect.

We should listen to the church since the church is the body of Christ "And he is the head of the body, the church:..." Colossians 1:18. We should not trust man tho "Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD."-Jeremiah 17:5 Cuz if man says his Christian but acts like the world then he is a liar since he is not Christ like we need separating from the world. Not everything man says is true

The problem is you can not know which church is the true church unless you study for yourselves. If your listening to a church just because they tell you they are the church. Your listening to men, and placing your eternity in those mens hands. You better pray they got it right. or you could be doomed for eternity.;
