Luke 17

Christ Teaches On Offences

1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Christ Cleanses Ten Lepers

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Christ Teaches On The Second Coming

20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.

24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

32 Remember Lot's wife.

33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

How does it get within us ?
Hello Pilgrimshope, I have been searching: God forms His rule, His Kingdom, in us by writing His eternal moral law in our mind and heart. This is the new covenant. God has issued a new covenant because it is not possible for the adamic natural man to obey God, and God demands strict obedience to His Law.

Love, Walter
Do you think this is how it gets within us ?

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what I mean is is the kingdom of God what Jesus is preaching in the gospel ? And does it get into us when we hear and believe it with our heart ? So would this be the catalyst for the kingdom getting within us ? And is this why this element is required ?

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And the gospel must first be published among all nations.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Is the kingdom of God made of faith that is in us due to hearing and believing the gospel of said kingdom ?

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?

and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?

and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?

as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:13-17‬

is this how the kingdom gets within us ? When we hear and believe the gospel of the kingdom ?

“This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when we hear the gospel of the kingdom of God and believe the belief gets into our hearts within us at our core

if we hear the gospel it’s aimed at our heart and mind and soul and faith exists ot him us planted by his word

The word of the kingdom is within those who hear and believe mans design is to work by the knowledge inside of us either this way

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: all these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭KJV

Or if we receive the gospel into that place In us like this principle notice the word of the kingdom is the important part to keep in our heart

“When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The word of the kingdom was in thier heart but Satan tries to snatch it before it roots and grows

Jesus preaching the gospel is how it gets into us and becomes part of our inner most place our heart

a that’s what by faith really means basing everything on the gospel of the kingdom which Jesus words tell us about and invite us to believe and have faith

It’s meant to create faith in us of the eternal kingdom Jesus claims , truthfully , to rule and govern and offers those who accept his gospel

By faith really means by the word of Christ which is the gospel he preached the gospel of his kingdom which we are called to believe

Romans 14:7 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Why didn’t you keep quoting brother ?

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

for the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭14:13-14, 17-19‬ ‭

all those verses around the single ones really teach the lessons he’s conveying

a theres a lot there from us being told not to keep judging each other based on the law , telling us that if we consider a certain food unclean , the. To us who consider it unclean, it’s unclean ( that’s our faith )

But not not to the other guy who doesn’t think it’s unclean to him it’s just food he thanks God for ( that’s his faith )

We can’t possibly judge one another correctly because our faith is all at a different stage of understanding and we Christian’s live and walk by faith and that’s our standard oir faith

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Unlike the law I’m not supposed to look at the law and then accuse the people I see breaking it , I’m supposed to build up the other believers knowing all of us are yet to be made perfect

The New Testament shows Gods deep desire to save man from condemnation which they brought upon themselves in old time through sin

Phil. 2:13 (ESV)
for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

If this isn't our will, perhaps we can pray for it?
brother that’s saying “God is already within you changing your Will if you believe the gospel “

Its a process a life long one

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

( now he explains )
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭

see he’s saying even though you recognize your still a work in progress remain diligent and focused because as you believe and press forward Godnis also simultaneously working out the issues in your heart that stop is from having that mindset already

you should always pray for what you really want and need regarding those things like that for sure but also

ashen we accept the gospel and begin to become disciples of Jesus truly learning from him even little by little and we start believing and applying those things what is happening inside is this

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Gods word in us is teaching us discernment so we don’t think and desire evil instead he’s working in us to change our former sinful will be giving us discernment it’s changing nd hold it used to have inside our heart

ashen we believe the gospel it’s teaching us to will ( desire and seek after ) and also to do his good and perfect will which Jesus Christ taught mankind in the gospel

to love others and not hate others to give and not take to heal and not hurt to help and not oppress to forgive and not condemn And hold grudges against

ago care for and not abuse and neglect

In other words jesus teaches us to just simply do good towards others to live a decent and peaceful life , to ac try ally exhibit some love and care for others in need even strangers ect

just to care nd r our selves and the world he gave us but instead mankind went the other way we kill and lie and cheat and abuse and steal we rape and pillage and defile we create world wars with millions dead and counting we fight over oil and jewel over gold and silver

We enslave and exploit for gain every th ing under heaven and mostly we don’t think twice about others ……

We want to part fro. That system and move into the system Jesus presched in the gospel of his everlasting kingdom who we will dwell on forever and no one will act on Benedictines ode ways no one will desire those things but our Will will always be the things Jesus taught to love one another live in peace and harmony to honor each other as we do our own self

Its all coming from the gospel brother Gods working on us all who hear and believe the gospel but that’s the thing if we reject the gospel we’re rejecting the only thing that can change our hearts and minds because we’re rejecting the knowledge of God and his eternal kingdom

of we let the gospel become our faith Gods working as we accept his word there is power in the gospel to change by one that truly lets it in and believes

I think that you're right to point out that it is something that God is already doing in our lives from the start.

I must say, that for me, it wasn't so apparent to me though with learning. First just coming across the verse, and the Truth it contained therein. But then the actual experiencing me trying to "live in the Spirit" and finding that I was, to say the least, rather clumsy at it. I didn't know what to do and wondered at my own Salvation.

Finally, I learned, through teachings, etc., to confess it as such and to ask God to give me the desire to desire.
Hope that makes sense...

you mentioned a ministry that caught my attention what ministry do you have? Also I have a weird mind too but that I think is why he chose us to represent him.
I was saying that reading Walter and Debbie’s posts brings to mind Priscilla and Aquila husband and wife ministry team who traveled with Paul

“After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; and found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome) and came unto them. And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭18:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

( good trivia question Paul’s occupation I mean )

“Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭16:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:19‬ ‭

interestingly most people believe Apollos was taught by Paul but actually two of Paul’s partners in the gospel this husband and wife ministry team had a real important hand in it

“And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭18:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It shows how they are all part of the same other partners and traveling companions of Paul in spreading the gospel we’re mark and Luke. Especially Luke who was with Paul until the end

“And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭18:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I was just saying Walter and Debbie bring to mind that other husband and wife who shared the gospel

Hope that makes sense...

yes hats what I mean by it’s a life long process a journey

There is a lot of inner working happening in us the reason we don’t just read the Bible once and retain it all is. Cause we are being prepared to handle more constantly Godnisnt going to overload us with understanding we can’t handle and live up to

Like your saying there it’s the same for us all it’s a process of change and we only are required to live up to what we do actually grasp and can handle that’s the difference in “ willful sin “

Ultimately there is a change the pace and time but yes definately asking God is important prayer is always a daily need

A simple example of what I meant is suppose I’m a believer I’ve confessed I believe in Jesus but suppose I’m also a person who doesn’t forgive people “if you don’t wrong me illNever wrong you but if you cross me I’ll get you back “

If I’m truly a believer and my faith is in Jesus when I hear and carry this in my mind and heart it causes and forces confrontation within and results in change only because I hear and believe him

“Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36-

i hope that makes sense if I’m a believer and I hear and trust Jesus how could I then continue on in unforgiveness ?

faith changes us but it has to be this kind
“But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

No He doesn't. This about as false as false doctrine gets.
I think you need to remember your place. he is above all the king od kings that demands respect and reverence as well as obedience if you served him and were actually submitted to him you would understand the gravity of it and it would resonate in you. Instead your warped mind once again not only has a huge swing and a miss but spouts doctrine yet again. your doctrine minded not kingdom minded

The Bible is like an onion the layers just keep peeling only it smells a lot better

what I mean is almost every time I read the Bible there’s something I’ve read many times but , it seems to just then occur as if I hadn’t ever read it

i believe that’s part of Gods design so as to not overload us with Borden and works we can’t yet attain to do we each are raised by daddy according to faith at dofferent paces

fourty years ago I could never have handled what I know now I believe that’s part of a gods design to bring his children along in his time and as they grow up babes don’t know or need to know what adults do

I think that’s why that happens brother and I bet it’s rather common that we read something many times but then one day it sort of hits the mark and we realize it I believe it’s all a process and he’s opening our minds slowly or quickly depending on the person and his plans for them
