This whole situation at Asbury University has me wondering. Charismatics have been preaching for years that a great end-time revival is coming that will see millions of people turn to Christ and get saved. Since the revival at Asbury University started, people have been freaking out saying things like: This is the revival we've been praying for so long; and, it's going to lead to a worldwide revival!

Now, here's your chance. If you know of any scriptures that clearly teach a great end-time revival, or "harvest," as it's sometimes called, here's your chance to put it out there. Show me the scriptures.

I've recently given up on charismatic because the messages were just blah. I think it could be strange fire. It's really just a revival because let's be honest most charismatics gave up. I go to plenty of pentecostal churches where now it's taboo to be spiritual. Charismatics traded the gifts for psychology classes at Bible college. I took one myself.

This is probably when the great end-time revival would occur: And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting Gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (Rev 14:6,7)

No one has ever seen an angel preach the Gospel. But when an angel flies across the heavens and preaches the Gospel, it would be something truly amazing. And no doubt many will be saved even while God's judgments are pouring down. There is only one Gospel and God tells us that it is an everlasting Gospel.

As to what is happening at Asbury, time will tell whether God is working in that situation. We may not limit God in any way.

It's late and I'm about ready for bed, so please excuse my not taking time to look up references. In the O.T. Israel experienced revival when the pagan groves and all the worship places were torn down, sodomites driven from the land and the Word of God read to the masses.

If you find a good Gospel preaching church that is involved in leading folks to the Lord, preaching against the devil's strongholds and God's people walking with Him, I'd say it doesn't necessarily need revival. All believers have room to grow, but there are few churches that actually have an evangelism plan. I've heard tv preachers talk of great revival. I don't think enthusiasm is a biblical definition although motivation is required. I'd just be happy if they learned how to lead someone to Christ.
Peter and the disciples went from a church running 120 to thousands getting saved and many added to their church daily. That's revival.

I would not poo-poo anything that shows a turn in the road for us. Too many American christians believe works save you and that the word of God is not 100% reliable. Too many "christian" churches are embracing pagan beliefs, with their stupid rainbow flags and social justice stances.

This may not be a great revival at this time, but every explosion starts out small. We need wins right now, so I'll take it.

That passage says what the angel does but it doesn't say what happens on the earth as a result. In fact, most scriptures in Revelation that describe what people will do during the tribulation say they won't repent, they'll curse God for their troubles, and will continue in their sin.

Non-related question, since God can do everything and anything and wants all people to be saved. WHY NOT have an angel preach the message to all nations NOW? Why only to one last generation? Does the Bible give any reason for this?

Also I've always found this verse really interesting, I couldn't even imagine an angel preaching the gospel, in the midst of heaven of all places, is it gonna be like listening to real loud speakers proclaim it? Who knows!

I agree with your point. I disagree however that this passage shows there will be a great end-time revival. First, the text doesn't say that. Second, if locusts from the bottomless pit, the waters turning to blood, etc. can't convince them to repent, why would an angel preaching the gospel change their minds?

But this going to be different, so we should expect a positive outcome worldwide. Many Jews will repent during the Tribulation under the preaching of Moses and Elijah, and many Gentiles when the angel preaches the Gospel. That will be a very powerful message.

Yes. As long as the Church is in the world, Christians are to be salt and light. Light implies that the Gospel has been handed to the Church to be preached in all the world and to every creature, since Christ Himself is the Light to lighten the Gentiles. And that is why an angel is not preaching at this time. But sadly the true and full Gospel is not being preached by all, even though every radio and TV preacher has the Bible. You will note that in the book of Acts the Gospel is frequently called "the Word of God" and the Word of God is a living and power Word. Hence hundreds and thousands were saved.

What I'm looking for is clear teaching there will be a great end-time revival or harvest. We have clear teaching on the rapture; on the great apostacy; on the man of lawlessness; on Christ's return; etc. Where's the teaching on the great end-time revival?

We need a revival, but if it's the end times, it may be

In Revelation there are two witnesses who go to preach the word of God to those who still do not believe in God.The last two witnesses were killed and then resurrected in front of these people,

Go figure out what the problem is the worst part of the time.

Here you go…last days attitude. It doesn’t sound like a great revival.

2 Timothy 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.
10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

God is just, long suffering, gracious,
He cannot judge them, unless they have heard the gospel. They will be without excuse.

I've heard a great many teachers talk about a end times revival. I have yet to see the text that specifically says that will happen.

I'm not saying it won't happen.

True, time will tell. True revival is not about staying in one place searching for an emotional feeling, but true revival stirs up people where they depart and go out and preach the gospel both publicly and privately. What we are seeing could actually be doing more harm than good, people seeking an emotional experience rather than truth from the word of God.
