Artios1, it's apparant from your post that you don't believe Jesus, when He commanded His disciples to, "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I gave you."

Soooooooooo, let me think on whom I'm going to believe, you or Jesus.

I choose Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely go with Jesus! (If they are the words of Jesus)

Have you or Nehemiah6 even asked yourself ....why the Apostles deliberately disobeyed Jesus. Which has got to be the case IF that is what Jesus spoke.
That was supposedly spoken shortly before He was taken up. The Apostles remembered to go back and tarry in Jerusalem to wait for the promise and yet no place is there any record of baptizing in in that formula...

On the day of Pentecost when Pete stood up with the 11 which was maybe within a couple week of Mat 28:19 ....and yet what did Peter say Act 2:38 ... in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins ...

If you can find me one place in Gods Word where that formula was used in baptism .... I will humbly accept. But as it stands.... it appears to be added by translators....not given by revelation to Matt.

Last week I read that there were 44,000 denominations. That in itself must make God cry. But that is not the subject of this post. What I want to ask is WHY most of them ignore the teaching of baptism and impose their own interpretation.

I will start with what happened at Pentecost where it says in Acts 2 v 38, Then Peter said to them "Repent and let everyone of you be baptized in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus baptism Matthew 3 V 16. and when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water and behold, the heavens were open to him.

John 3 v 23. John was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim because water was plentiful there

Matthew 28 v 19. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 8 v 36 And as they were going along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said "See here is water! What prevents me from being baptized? And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down INTO the water, Phillip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.

Acts 10 v 48. And he commanded them to be baptized in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.

Romans 6 V 3. Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized INTO CHRIST JESUS were baptized into his death?

Galatians 3 v 27. For as many as you were baptized INTO CHRIST have put on Christ.

Matthew 3 v 6. And they were baptized by him in the River Jordan, confessing their sins.

In the New Testament, baptism was in the name or into the name of Jesus, always by immersion, always when there was plenty of water available.

Only ONCE are we told to baptize in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit. and as we know we never make a doctrine out of one verse of scripture. Therefore the overwhelming evidence is that you baptize by immersion in the name of Jesus or Jesus Christ. One final point nowhere in scripture do you baptize a baby by sprinkling water over its head.

So the question is why do we ignore the scripture on this subject and replace it with our own version?

Point 1. YOU DO NOT make a doctrine out of one verse of scripture

Point 2. ALL scripture is given by God (not some).
All you do know is go out and start your own "denomination". You answered your own question with out knowing it. And no it did not make God cry for God is not like man He is a spirit. Try looking at it not judging not condemning. Look at the good they do for Him.

True, we do not baptize with the Holy Spirit of God, but it is the baptism
of the Holy Spirit of God which brings us into the body of Christ.
there’s just baptism sister look at the relationship

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.

And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Do you see my point ?there isn’t water baptism and another spirit baptism there’s just getting baptized into Christs name for remission of sins it’s done in water receiving the spirit is a gift from Jesus for believing the gospel

when we believe the gospel and get baptized into Jesus name for remission of sins that’s us accepting the invite to be a part of his body , his spirit comes by faith to those of his body those who believe will get baptized because they believe what it says baptism is for

i don’t see two baptisms I see one baptism into Christ d ot of significance from it it’s a spiritual act to be baptized in Jesus name buried beneath the water and raised up it’s a spiritual thing to do that

We are not talking about "extra biblbical writings". We are talking about the historical record. For over 100 years after the apostles passed on Christians were baptizing in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. And for over 2,000 years that is still the case.

And if you are gonna' stick with the Word then why don't you stick with Matthew 28:19. THOSE ARE THE RECORDED WORDS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF! Who has all power and authority in Heaven and on earth? Do His words count for anything?
So the question is why did the NTC disobey him?

Exactly. This is all so tiresome that you have to wonder about some of these silly posts. The words of the Lord Jesus Christ -- written under divine inspiration -- have the ultimate authority.
ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration from God.

Of course that is why the NTC disobeyed them.

Seems the NTC did not believe his words counted for anything.

Another false and misleading statement. There are many other places where water baptism is mentioned. And while we read in Acts about baptism "in the name of Jesus" or "in the name of the Lord Jesus" there is documentary evidence from the 2nd century that that was in fact equivalent to "in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost". And ever since all Christians have been baptized in this manner.
I know a lot of churches that do not baptise in this manner.

I did not know there was a law that said you couldn't.
Mo,

But I doubt you will get any better answers here..

Again, Not sure why it matters.. Unless water baptism is required for salvation, which it is not. I doubt God is going to care if we do it in Jesus name or if the father son and spirits name..

some people understood Matthew 28:19 is all about the [NAME] ...baptize ((in the)) {NAME} of the Father-Son-Spirit.
so, when they read Book of Acts and see 4 examples of people being water baptized in the NAME of Jesus, they concluded, [[[oh, Matthew 28:19 (in the Name) of Father-Son-Spirit means Jesus is that NAME.

really interesting how some Denominations are created by factual Scripture, and how they have connected Scripture to make a foundation. which in this case, Jesus, is their foundation and the NAME of the...Father-Son-Spirit. so when they Baptize in Jesus Name, it means they baptized into the Name of the Father-Son-Holy Spirit!

Something to note about Acts 2:38, is that Peter didnt get water baptized nor did any in the upper room, and thats quite a bit of people.
YET< ... they all spoke in tongues, and Peter more then the rest.

Yet, they were not water baptized.

The 3000 JEWS who heard Peter preach, were..

Paul who came later, said....>"Christ sent me not to water baptize"..

He was showing us that water isn't a part of the "Gospel of the Grace of God"....that is Paul's Gospel.

Should you be water baptized AFTER you are born again?

Of course.

Something to note. I would be more concerned with what they did, not what they didn't and your comment is mere speculation.

I much prefer to go by the teaching of scripture which in this case is very clear.

If it is not why were the listeners told to get baptized for the remission of sin? I think you are just making things up as you go along.
