I'm interested in reading other denomination bible\books but am unsure if its a good or bad idea....? So if I read a catholic bible would it totally mess with me?? If I read the book of mormon?? The book of common prayer....? Anyone read these just because you're interested??? Did you benefit with it or does it not??? I would hate to miss out on extra material that's awesome...??

To start with Mormonism is NOT a Christian denomination, it is a false religion, nor is the book of mormon a Christian Bible.
There is no problem reading the books from Orthodox Christian Churches, denominations.
Pick up a copy of Mead's Handbook of Denominations to read to weed out those you want to ignore the books and movies from.

There is nothing wrong with the Book of Common Prayer as long as the prayers are not used as a mere recital. Here is an excellent prayer:
O heavenly Father, who hast filled the world with beauty:
Open our eyes to behold thy gracious hand in all thy works;
that, rejoicing in thy whole creation, we may learn to serve
thee with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all
things were made, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
But again discretion is advised because there is a denominational slant.
As for the rest, why would you want to read and study anything except the Holy Bible? It would take a lifetime of study to see what is in the Word of God and to be grounded in the true Gospel and sound doctrine. So do not waste time, energy and effort on useless endeavors.

Catholic Bibles are still Bibles. Granted there is going to be a translational bent towards Romish doctrine but translations like the RSV catholic edition are fine translations (In the case of the RSVCE its more orthodox than the standard RSV). The extra books known as the Apocrypha while not scripture are fine to read. They were originally printed in the KJV.. As to the Book of Common Prayer, it is a fine text to read and to pray with. It is perhaps one of the greatest prayer tutors in the English speaking world. That is if you are using the 1928 American or the 1662 English version. The modern ones frankly stink. The BCP was a tutor to me for many years. In fact when I pray out loud I sound like the BCP because the words and cadence come so natural to English speakers. The Scripture readings are taken from the KJV while the Psalter is the Miles Coverdale version.
As to other texts like the Book of Mormon I would read them to know their contents but remember they are false texts revealing a false religion so handle with care.

I've read about as much of the Book of Moron as I could stomach. I was trying to become familiar with it so as to show Mormon neighbors where it's unbiblical. Other than the parts that are plagiarized from my Bible, it is boring and poorly written. There's other works of fiction that are entertaining and won't mess up one's thinking.
There are a lot of people who waste much time and are misled or carried about by every wind of doctrine. I thought of a gal named Michelle who went out from us to be a follower of her pope, beny hinn, the Mormons, etc. She went on a quest for the "truth".
Find a Real Bible and spend your short life focussing on it is the best advice I have. You'll not regret it.

The Catholic Church has never published a translation of the Hebrew or Greek scripture.
Hence, there is no Catholic Bible. The Catholics confirmed that their choice of Bible would be the Vulgate Bible. The Vulgate is a fourth century translation. The Catholic Church did not exist in the fourth century.
If your knowledge of the New Testament is not rock solid. I would not recommend reading any Christian or so called Christian literature.
Christian literature nearly always has embedded theology. If your not grounded in the NT, you will end up deeply confused.

What makes you say that? The Catholic scholar Jerome translated the Latin Vulgate directly out of the Hebrew and Greek. "He originally translated it all from Greek, but as he went on he corrected the Old Testament against the Hebrew original." But at the same time the Vulgate was ruined because his pope insisted that seven apocryphal books be included within the canon and treated as a second canon.

I like talking to Christians from other denominations, indeed I have friends who are Catholic, one is. Jehovah's Witness and one used to be a Mormon, another is atheist. We have some good talks.
However, I would not devote time to reading other sorts of Bible's and material. To me that is confusing and wasting valuable time. I feel it best to stick to my Bible which I find makes sense to me. I am Anglican.

Bishop is probably a better translation rather than pope. The Vulgate was translated in the latter half of the fourth century. Bishops were appointed in all the churches as per Paul's instruction.
What is wrong with 1 Maccabees?
You don't have to read one Maccabees if you don't want to. It doesn't change the Old Testament.
