My question is, did GOD really join those people in bad marriages
It is they who said their vows. It is God who tells them to keep their vows. This is not difficult or complicate stuff, John. You might want to take notice of the writing on the wall, though. Life is possible as a single person when one walks close to Jesus. You, at 70, ought to have figured that out by now. Time to get out of your rut. Get behind the wheel and we will pray and push.

Age is not the issue here. Been happening since my 20's.
That's okay, you've answered the question I think. If you could find someone you're attracted to and God gave you His blessing, age is irrelevant for the most part. I'm just wondering how young you consider too young. If you don't want to answer I understand.

It's very important to pay attention to red flags about someone's personality when you're conversing. Put your fleshly desires behind you and make the right choice. Yes it's ok to be attracted to the opposite sex of course, but be strong and pay attention. Humility, kindness, decency, and such attributes should catch your attention more than looks. Those who have these personalities themselves will find it much easier to notice. Read the scriptures more and get advise from different bible readers and you will see things more clearly. You shouldn't be married to someone for so long before you finally realize that you can't bare the marriage any longer. But for those who are already married but refuse to get a divorce and having difficulties, there are ways to fix problems but you won't find a solution if you're not looking. When you have a problem that needs to be fixed, you can argue and complain to each other or you can take the time to make the necessary improvements. And if you don't know how to fix a problem then you could get advise elsewhere such as the scriptures, and take note of elders who are happily married. Look for a solution and eventually you will find it. Have the humility to understand that we're not always right about everything and we need make adjustments in our life even as adults or elders.

God because of the hardness of your hearts, gave you permission to divorce your wives for any reason in the Old Testament.

But from the beginning it was not so; and the New Testament understanding is that the only reasons you may divorce your spouse is if the spouse commits adultery or else abandonment.

Also, a wife can leave her husband (without divorcing him) in the case of physical abuse.
Can you give a reference for that first statement?

The desire for companionship is always there. I got fed up with Christians saying, "All you need is Jesus"....Jesus never said that. It's just a "feel good" statement. I once had a Pastor's wife tell me, "You shouldn't be looking for a spouse, you're married to Jesus".....that is just stupid. Taking a verse way out of context. I know there will be no rest until there is companionship.

I still do not understand when Jesus said, "What GOD has joined together, let no man put asunder"....yet I've seen Christians ruin marriage over self interest. Why did GOD still join them?

The point of the verse is God is FOR marriage and has been this way since Adam and Eve. They should be worked out through tough times. The Law of Moses didn't command divorce but permits it for a marriage that can become unbearable. Things like violence, adultery, etc. Having a divorce should be similar to getting an amputation. You should feel like it's probably the best option you have at the time instead of it being over petty differences. For example, your partner's family convincing a divorce because you don't have the same cultures, or a serious but unintentional mistake was made.

Mark 10:9 "Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”....even for bad marriages? I can understand any physical abuse, but if you just cannot stand the other person? Or their attitudes and habits are destroying the family? I know in the Old Testament there are protections for the wife, if she is being treated badly.
Jesus approved the arranged marriages of his time except for adultery. In the case of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, the spouse must separate herself from that situation and call the abusive spouse to get help, for he or she has broken the marriage vows.

Where does it say Jesus approved of arranged marriages?

Sadly for some people the bad doesn't come out until they are married. They cannot take the pressue of raising a family.

You have spoken volumes about yourself in that little post. You have absolutely nothing to contribute to any Christian marriage. You need to prepare to meet your Maker. That should be your sole focus at this time and place in your journey and life.

Had you been Abraham you would have given up on having a child at 70 or 80. Abraham was completely frustrated with GOD but didn't give up. Abraham did not care about anymore rewards from GOD.

"I am your shield, your very great reward. " But Abram said, "O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?" And Abram said, "You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir." Genesis 15:1

I love you John, but it seems that you are a man with need for a much deeper, closer, and personal walk with your Lord. Abraham's attitude was not "what can you give me God?" That was a sad and unfortunate little twisting of Scripture you did there. We should be thankful to just be alive under His sky and made right in His sight by the precious gift of His dear Son.

I am much younger than you, but my highest desire is to just go home to be with Him in a place where there are no tears, no pain, no cruelty, perversion, abuse. I just want a clear mind that is set singly upon Him. I cannot relate to you and your attitude of entitlement which is of a level that is off every conceivable chart.

You miss the point of Abraham's cry to the LORD. He wasn't interested in anymore wealth, he wasn't interested in anything else GOD had for him. Anything GOD was offering meant nothing without a son.

Do you want a spouse, a child, or both?

He already had God's promise. It was a done deal. He should have been living overjoyed in the hope of what was to come.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12...at this point all he had was a promise from GOD, but had seen NOTHING to lead to a fulfilling of it. He had been waiting decades. I can understand his frustration.
