Hi... personal Discernment is not the gift of discernment which is seeing into the realm of the spirit not just seeing evil spirits. Its not discerning when someone is good or bad blah blah blah. Were taking about spiritual things so have you been baptized/filled with the holy spirit Luke 11:13. How can the natural understand the supernatural.

"We also speak of these things, not in words taught or supplied by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual thoughts with spiritual words [for those being guided by the Holy Spirit]. "

"But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

Its one reason many argue disagree. The "have you received the holy spirit since you believed?" for some is "duh I got all of Him when I was saved. Not written but praise God.

I would you suggest you spend some time dwelling deeper on the first passage you wrote 🙂.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Look at the last sentence it's exactly how the gift of prophecy works.

Which was also my trump card 🙂.
isn't this thread about personal discernment ?

The New Testament removes any interpretation or need for mediation between a believer and Jesus is the simple point and we don’t need to be angels omit or no terpret away anything he said if we believe his word we will believe the right discernment

“And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The new testement takes away the high minded person who believes the other persons salvation depends on tbier own mediation or thier own doctrine or interpretation or personal prophecy or judgement

because jesus spoke the judgements and prophecies of his second coming and the end himself and said “tell everyone to believe me and they will be saved “

when a person hears Jesus and believes it is this

“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when a Christian receives Gods spirit through the gospel it means they don’t need another person to now interpret or tell them what God said Jesus told us what God said and it won’t change or end he also said it will always be faithful and true to the believer

it’s about belief of what Jesus said and did that was always the purpose of prophecy and still is

“I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭19:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the prophets were always witnessing the gospel and the prophets after were always preaching the gospel and expounding on things Jesus said would happen later because the discernment is Gods word of the gospel this word

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

is talking about this word of God that quickens

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭

now add this thought

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:

the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭

The law and Prophecy , is meant to lead us to the lord and his word in the gospel is the point and latter prophecy is meant to preach and expound upon what’s already established bot change or alter it

when a person hears and believes Jesus word and judgements on eternal matters it leads us to and fills us with the right discernment all we’re supposed to do is hear and believe the gospel nd learn from e epistles and prophets and law

awe don’t need any Intermediary jesus is each persons prophet and teacher and apostle When we receive his spirit he’s actually there with us

isn't this thread about personal discernment ? ,
It could be, depends on how discerning you are. But I have to tell you I'm discerning for prophecy to.

The New Testament removes any interpretation or need for mediation between a believer and Jesus is the simple point and we don’t need to be angels omit or no terpret away anything he said if we believe his word we will believe the right discernment.
This is simple explanation of putting the whole Bible into a nutshell explanation

I personally would add the new testament is also a set of instructions...🙂.
“And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:34‬ ‭KJV‬‬.
And the lord would tell you to seek prophecy and discern for prophecy 🙂.

‭‭John‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when a Christian receives Gods spirit through the gospel it means they don’t need another person to now interpret or tell them what God said Jesus told us what God said and it won’t change or end he also said it will always be faithful and true to the believer.
Again this is a nut shell explanation of personal prophecy, and really only equating prochecy between two people. When actually you should be equating personal prophecy between an indivual and the holy spirit and Jesus and the father🙂.

it’s about belief of what Jesus said and did that was always the purpose of prophecy and still is

“I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭19:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬.
The new testament prophecy of the new testament is to seek guidance of the holy spirit for comfort and edification for both your self and others 🙂.

the prophets were always witnessing the gospel and the prophets after were always preaching the gospel and expounding on things Jesus said would happen later because the discernment is Gods word of the gospel this word.
Again your equating new testament prophecy to old testament prophecy. The two are different now🙂.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬.
This is the correct understanding of discerning for new testament personal prophecy 🙂.
is talking about this word of God that quickens

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭.
This is also scripture that can be spoken to you without reading the Bible through personal prophecy 🙂.
now add this thought

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:

the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬.
I'll add this thought did all these thoughts come by your own accord 🙂. Befor you wrote them here.
“Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ .
I'll had theese thought the spirit of prophecy is for Christians to be a true witness for Gods kingdom, which can't happen unless your under guidance 🙂.

The law and Prophecy , is meant to lead us to the lord and his word in the gospel is the point and latter prophecy is meant to preach and expound upon what’s already established bot change or alter it

when a person hears and believes Jesus word and judgements on eternal matters it leads us to and fills us with the right discernment all we’re supposed to do is hear and believe the gospel nd learn from e epistles and prophets and law

awe don’t need any Intermediary jesus is each persons prophet and teacher and apostle When we receive his spirit he’s actually there with us.
truly I tell you that you can't put prophecy in the same field as the law .

And you can't make laws out of prophecy as prophecy is a free gift 🙂.

Now befor I go I would hope you don't just reply straight away and mediate on what the holy spirit has just told you. 🙂

You continue to brag about being a prophet. So let's see a "personal" prophecy from you regarding anyone and let's see if it comes true (even though the person is not in your proximity). The only example of a "personal" prophecy in the New Testament is when Agabus warned Paul (Acts 21:10,11).

Your a liar. I HAVE NEVER CLAIMED TO BE A PROPHET
Just because you have twisted the meaning of prophet does NOT mean that you have not claimed to be a prophet. So here are the twisted ideas you present and below is the correct response given by one poster:

YOUR THREAD
Proof that personal prophecy is also for 1 individual to another.

YOUR POST
Plus further proof that is no such thing as false prophet amongst Christians.

YOUR POST
So we see that there is no such thing as a christian being a false prophet because any christian can speak prophecy, which means there are no more prophets that speak for God but there is Christians.

CORRECT REBUTTAL
Believers who are given the Gift of Prophecy can certainly do so, but not all Christians are given that Gift. I do not think we can sat "there are no more Prophets" with certainty. In order to do so, we would have to investigate every report of a person prophesying all over the world. Doubt anyone has done that. On the other hand, if a Christian prophesies, is he NOT speaking for God? Does that NOT mean he is acting as a Prophet?

By definition anyone speaking prophecies would be deemed to be a prophet. You claim to be speaking "personal prophecies" which means that you are in fact claiming to be a prophet. So let's see one of your prophecies come to pass. And if they do not, then your are a FALSE PROPHET. And Jesus said "Beware of false prophets".

Your the twisted liar friend cutting of peoples hope

Christians are told to seek prophecy.

Are you going to say only one person has had prophecy come true.

You must be the only person who means something to God.

I have to say your not only full of dogma but you also take your dogma to the extremes.

I can see where your getting your Prophecy from and it ain't Jesus.

Why don't you honestly admit that you have been corrected by others and you simply refuse to accept correction. And since I am definitely NOT a liar, your false accusation proves that you are a FALSE PROPHET.

Prophecy is also a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart
I disagree. Prophecy is a message given by God to a person so they may inform Gods people... A Prophet isn't in the business of discerning the thoughts/intents, or what's in the heart of others. They are messengers from God.

Hebrews 4:12 does not support your theory, sorry

according to scripture prophecy from God would be a double edged sword and it would get to the matter of the heart.

Also your theory disputes this.

But however there is another main reason for seeking prophecy, and that's for comfort.

Ok so are we going to say comfort is not a matter of the heart to.

Then we see prophecy giving to Paul from one indivual to another.

Let me guess Paul must have been the whole church.

Or I know it's only people like Paul who can reçieve such prophecy.

From where I'm standing any born again Christian represents the church.

So when you say Prophecy is for the church and not individuals , it really sounds like your throwing an individual out of the church.

Look, if @Fundaamental believes he is a Prophet, then what's the big deal?!! Why fight with him, and insult him!!!

And anyway, maybe he is actually a Prophet!!!

Carry On!!!!

Ever have a conversation with someone and feel what they say isn't the whole truth?
Later on, you learn it wasn't the whole truth.
You Discerned the Moment you were lied to.
It wasn't confirmed however until God let's it be known to you.
You two both seem nice @The_Watchers_2017 and @Karlon

But could you please elaborate further on your last quotes please, thanks
The Gift of Discernment is many times the Holy Spirit alerting to us beware of either what's being said, maybe a situation is at hand, who knows but the Spirit of God will let you know and once you understand it is the Holy Spirit, you can set the clock and bank on it happening as the Spirit warns.

Discernment, is something happening now or really soon.
Prophecy, is something happening later.

why they're different is because the Spirit speaks by feelings in Discernment [gut drops/ill feeling], but in Prophecy, speaks with words/visions/dreams.

The gift of Diserment is spoken about by Christians in a manner that suggests its also a gift that comes and goes when you seek the holy spirit for guidance.

I also understand the gift of Diserment is also when the holy spirit speaks to you Personaly.

But on another note can the gift of Diserment also be a gift of prophecy ?
I think I have the gift of discernment of spirits. The Bible doesn't say much about the gift, but there are LOTS of verses that command believers to discern right from wrong, that which is holy from profane, true doctrine from false, true prophets from fake preachers, as well as exercise wisdom.

I can't tell you any more about what the Bible says concerning this gift other than what it simply states. There are too many people who write books and teach far beyond what the Scriptures teach on spiritual gifts.

To express my sole opinion, so take it for what it is worth, I will hit my basic experiences. Keep in mind that these are personal opinions and NOT this saith the Lord. I may be wrong and am subject to His Word first and foremost.

A. I used to wonder what it was good for until I was in trying positions where it needed to be utilized.

B. It's not an ecstatic gift like speaking a langue you never studied. You just realize that there are important situations and people involved that you get special insight that others don't seem to notice. You don't hear a voice from God or any new information. It's just that things that you think others should consider become apparent.

C. It should be exercised in humility because God provides the discern necessary.
It will not impress others or bring attention to yourself other than possible disdain until others see that through their own mistakes.
Maybe I will give examples later if time permits.

Take care

FAQ: I'm thinking of reading the Bible; where should I start?

REPLY: The Bible can be a tedious chore for people new to it; so I highly
recommend that folks only looking to indulge their curiosity skip the
heavy books for now and begin with the short stories of Ruth, Esther, and
Jonah; and then for sure the philosophical book of Ecclesiastes. You gotta
love Solomon's pessimistic world view: it's spot on.

* When my teen-age son first started reading the Bible, he became
discouraged. When I asked him what the matter was, he said he couldn't
figure out the hidden messages. So I told him: Son, forget about hidden
messages. Just read the Bible like a novel or an encyclopedia and you'll get
more out of it that way; and he did.

FAQ: Which version would be best for me?

REPLY: Do yourself a kindness by using a Bible that reads very close to our
own modern way of speaking. Rickety old antiques like the Douay-Rheims,
the Confraternity, the American Standard Version, and the King James
version are no longer practical because their language and grammar are
obsolete.

For English-speaking looky-loos I suggest contemporary versions in common
use like the New International (NIV), New American Bible (NAB), the New
American Standard (NAS) the English Standard Version (ESV) and/or the
New Living Translation (NLT)

FAQ: Where can I find a Bible?

REPLY: Just about any book store carries a selection of Bibles, and even
some department stores; and of course Christian book stores. Amazon dot
com has them too. If you're on a limited budget, you might try shopping for
Bibles in a thrift store like Good Will and/or Salvation Army.

* No matter whose version of the Bible you choose, somebody will
eventually come along and insist it's no good so be ready for that.

Heb 5v10-6v2: "called by God as High Priest "according to the order of Melchizedek," of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
