You don't have to go to the other extreme.... I just find it a little tedious when people purport to speak for God... as if God directly tells them, "hey, I really, REALLY don't like that whole easter bunny thing...." We don't know that. I'm in favor of nearly anything that brings people closer to God. I don't know that the easter bunny does that, but it does get the kids out, and makes the day a special day.... it's up to us as parents and mentors to teach the kids the REAL reason for the season....

she is a proclaimed atheist. either way, she's making fun and using Christians and God as her subject matter to get her point across.
And why is it special for kids? Because they get treats? Or is it because of the resurrection of Christ? Should we not celebrate the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth when it comes to Easter and Christmas? Lying is never an option. No. Thats what you did. You made it into extremes. I simply said that a woman who buys a ressurrection dress is simply doing so to reverence Christ. You are the one who went to extremes and mentioned buying a mercedes. Thats called gaslighting and its a sign of an abusive person.

I wear my personal best on sunday to church and try to step it up a bit for ressurrection celebration. This year i got a new vest and my wife got a dress that matched one of my shirts.

What problem do you think God has with Bishop Nicholas? A man who as pastor did a bang up job even using his small stipen to help those less fortunate than himself, amd stood up for Trinitarian doctrine at the council of Nicea.
IMO, there's something insidious about discouraging a child's imagination, although I'm not equipped with enough knowledge to explain exactly why. But this is the result of the internet of things, and entertainment media in general. I'll try to summarize the teaching that I happened to take in on the subject. Compare the percentage of kids that love to read books and those that'd rather just watch a movie. Watching a movie requires minimal mental exertion, and this is why it is called a-muse-ment, because you can do it apart from musing, or thinking much about it. Movies show you what to think, while reading is a practice in how to think. Reading engages one's imagination, as Einstein is quoted, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. I resent your decision that you know my mind, saying I do not want my question answered. I made this post because I wanted this question discussed. I am so disappointed that it degenerated to a silly discussion about bingo being a sin, changing the subject completely from a discussion of what is OK to include in our churches.
However, I find the thought of bingo in the community rooms as people sharing good times together a good thought. Christ loved a party and friends sharing fellowship.
What's that old saying "the pot calling the kettle black". Not sure what "Churches" were playing target practice on. This is a very wise great way to get God to take notice of you though. I am sure this didn't lead into go down the path of gossip. Well seems we can, like the woke world today just redefine the word gossip.
The love just flows in this thread for others huh. Look where this went. In all of this why not try to see what we "say" or confess we believe.. see what Christ sees. Yes yes I know its all those other "Christians" and "Churches" that are disobeying God becoming more and more like the pagans of the past. pffft
What comes to mind is "I would rather you were hot or cold". This is not hot nor cold. IF this was based in love.. something good would have been shared first as a few tried to do. Not sure how this is any different...its that club that group that pats each other on the back I see allot here by some. But maybe the true intent is just being hidden.. yeah that's it. I am not thinking about anyone.. this is about the whole of this thread. Speak words of life.. speak so those that hear read so it shows grace unto the hearers. IF there is some CHURCH doing these things.. maybe talk to that pastor about it where both can talk pray about it.. I don't know.. YES I have and do this for over 30years now.

This has already been tested by the difference in pagan children brought up on nursery rhymes, Santa Clause and Easter bunnies, and Jewish children brought up on scripture stories and memory verses. The Jewish children are not taught about Christ, yet if you google for statistics on the difference between that two, you find the Jewish children surpass the pagan ones in everything.
My study was a rhetorical study in that there's no actual study that I'm aware of other than that of taking of an example of a bookworm and an example of a movie buff and comparing personalities. But not that this is meant to deride movie buffs of which is among my many interests. The study you referred to, if it were an actually conducted study, strikes me as though it might've been conducted by a particularly biased group of experimenters? No?

Yes... the treats do make it more special for them.... and it's up to the adults to make it Biblically special for them. Our job is to teach them, but first you have to have their attention.
and I agree, this is simply a discussion.... I have a lot of respect for you as a believer..... we do disagree on several things, but that doesn't mean we aren't brothers....
