I have been dealing with the software world and computers since 1996 but i knew that this is what i wanted to do since 1988 when i saw a DOS computer at a university.
It's been a fun and interesting journey and i still love dealing with computers and jumping from one technology to the next as it evolves.

I'm in CO. Half my team is in PA. The other half is in NC. Working from home or office is the same as far as teamwork, so I work from home. The commute is shorter ;-)

what kind of work do you do? I presume not housework. Or is that included.

I worked with software engineers and techies who are very clever, but I don't think they get outside much.

I only like automation up to a point.

Not going outside is the whole point. Right now it's cold out there. Some times in the year it's very hot out there.

That's why we nerds are working hard to cut down on the time we have to spend outside. You're welcome.

Not sure how your experience has been, but here in the Northeast it was kinda standard for I.T. people to have one day off before covid. Friday typically. After covid we got a nice 2 years off working from home and now we're back 2-3 days a week onsite.
Many people in our field, basically travel the world and do vacation and work at the same time.
I have friends who do this and my company has many people working on West Coast timezone or England Timezone.
I have the same flexibility and i took advantage of this before covid too. Now after covid i can't travel far outside of my state because i have to take care of my parents.
But this whole summer was basically working outside my house or on the beach. Planning to do the same thing the next summer God-willing.

Ive been reading about kitchens

open plan vs cramped

Ive known couples that have huge 2 storey houses with 4 or more bedrooms and double/triple garages and they are the only ones that live in it, while Ive also known families of 6 or more living in a space not bigger than a garage.

what happened with open plan was the kitchen got incorporated into the lounge so everyone could see what you were cooking. But that didnt work during covid for most families they couldnt have the kitchen to themselves.

But then working in a kitchen with the stove near the door, no bench space and just one accessible electrical socket can be trying too.


When you go work, the staffroom will have a dishwasher or sink and a microwave and maybe a table, a fridge, but of course no maid to tidy up after you lol. And you only have about ten minutes to sit down and eat anyway.

A modern kitchen seems to need all these things but where would be the bench space to put them all?

blender/nutribullet
toasted sandwhich maker
cordless phone
microwave
rice cooker
crockpot
breadmaker
compost bin
water filter
ice maker
fridge
freezer
oven
grill
dishwasher

do IT people have a solution or can they all be charged up run on batteries or solar power?

I don't know about that.
Lanolin is an interesting person who lives on an island, so you need a lot of back-and-forth communication to understand if she's joking of if she's serious.

One has only to look at the length and detail of the post to know. She's always genuine. But she can be genuinely difficult to follow.
