According to the bible, we cannot determine by our feelings if we are saved or not.
Consider the apostle Paul. He lived before God in all good conscience but admits he did it ignorantly in unbelief. Just because his conscience did not tell him he was wrong in persecuting Christians does not mean that he was right with God while doing so.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

Proverbs 28:26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.

1 Timothy 1:12-14 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

Acts 23:1 Then Paul, looking earnestly at the council, said, "Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day."

James 2:24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

I think the last two say it all..

we can not know by feelings. as you showed our feelings can lead us astray.

But we can know we have (not might have ) eternal life. by the words we place our faith in.

I think it also shows us that those who have a real faith will not be led astray and depart. Only people who have a wishy washy faith (or no faith at all) will wander of and depart from God. These people also will never know they have eternal life.

good thread!!!

FEELINGS? YUCK.
because of the fall, our hearts (minds) don't work the way they should:rolleyes:
can't be trusted...icky stuff in there.

but, God is so good, First He sent His Son to teach and live and die and rise again, then He gave us the Bible AND The Holy Spirit....AMEN!

now we don't have to listen to voices inside us:rolleyes:, or believe our feelings.

we can look to Him Who is outside of us, on the Throne, Our Lord, and love Him and learn of Him by the pledge, our gifts of faith by Grace through the Holy Spirit. who works and lives in us to testify of Jesus.

feelings? meh.....waaaaaaay over-rated. but if you get a feeling like you need to find a restroom thats good to listen to, also if you feel like baking a cake that would be okay too.

spent 40 years running around based on feelings..... nope: now i got THE BIBLE and the churchies:D and the Seal.

and my MP3 player...and creme soda.

and licorice.

bye beth:D

and my kitty.

and i feel fine.

thanks beth.

what is there to debate?

i'm going to listen to some songs :)

The Truth About Me Mandisa (lyrics) - YouTube

we don't listen to our feelings but to God's words and His truth about us. that HE loves us and we are to turn away from our sin and disobedience and have Faith in Jesus Christ. Our Lord, Redeemer and Savior :)

I have a prophesy.

To all the prophets.

If you do not stop your bull and read the bible and stop acting foolish then you are BIG trouble with the big guy upstairs.

The end.
