One great thing about getting old is becoming forgetful. In all that I've forgotten one
dribble of information is the difference between Calvinism and that other one. haha

So thankful that the Lord caused me to stop dwelling on what others think.
In His way, He said, "Maybe you should concern yourself with what I think."

I began studying the Bible.
Funny but awful at the same time too how people wanna hammer you into some shape that fits their own preconceived ideas.
I had another Calvinist do that to me today. Man, they are so stuck on their own thinking they cannot see past their own nose.
Although in truth there are more than two schools of thought on the matter. I won't name them in respect of your amnesia LOL

Yeah, nobody reads the Word of God and becomes calvinist, lutherm or catholic.

They have to be indoctrinated by one of these groups to follow that group.

May I ask Soyeong, what is the gospel?

What is the good news?
Start with the mistaken belief that 613 laws are written on the Christian's heart...

Although I would call that bad news, since despite what the Judaizers say, NOBODY can follow the law of Moses.

That is so funny. I just realized how much I've missed you.

Yeah, me . . . no. I wouldn't have one thing to say to anyone about anything related to Calvinism and Arminianism. I wouldn't have a clue. It's actually kind of surprising because I used to write about that nonsense all the time. I had books, tapes, yadda yadda. I honestly could not give a single detail from either side. As I work hard to understand the Word of God as if He were explaining it Himself, that has become all that matters to me. I am addicted to doing my best to view the Bible from God's perspective. All that matters to me is that I learn the Bible the way that God wants it to be known. :D

I seriously don't know anything about those groups anymore except a little Catholocism. I have just now realized that I have been wiped clean of caring about the difference. It's not intentional. It just isn't in me anymore. Must be about seven years ago I let go of everything I had ever believed and been taught, and began studying the Bible with a clean slate and no longer believe at all what I used to believe. Pretty incredible.

It helps to have some notes about what these groups believe so you can try to help them if any of them allow you to.

Many times it takes these folks hearing stuff from numerous people before they start to get it that they need to study God's Word for themselves where the Lord can start helping them get free from the cult indoctrination.

Seriously. I only read commentaries if I have to. Once I realized the core doctrine of the Bible, I instantly could see that these commentators are not aware of such doctrine, which is why they are mostly jibberish (to me). Commentators spend so much time writing about things that do not matter . . . at all. Why they do, oh, I could speculate much. A person could read an entire commentary of the Bible, and when they get to the end, would they be prepared to share the actual, Saving Plan of Jesus Christ? I doubt it. I'd give the chance of that happening at about a .05%.

17“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-20

29Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ [l]This is the first commandment. 31And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31

If you love God and each other you as ones self you will not break the 10 commandments, the truth is none of us can honestly keep the 10 commandments let alone the first commandment to love God and each other how we should because of our fleshly desires. hence why we ALL needed the savior Jesus Christ to destroy the works and condemnation of the wicked one and his children. Only self righteous people decieving them self believe they're without sin.

Can someone love because they have been commanded to do so? Can (those) commandments change a heart? No, the heart must be
changed by God for those commandments to be satisfied - one must first be saved, and from that, does a change of heart occur.

[Eze 36:26 KJV] 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

We are still obligated to obey the Torah. It was never abolished.
Has anyone else noticed the op has not responded to anything in the thread and yet it is 27 pages long?

Yes I know this topic is always up for disagreement, but what is the purpose of posting if you have no intentions of defending what you say?

so many junk threads around here lately

the op also started this thread:

All Humanity is Required to obey the Torah

and disappeared

such diligence

That's an interesting quote. I actually wrote:

"I only read commentaries if I have to."

Why would you do that?

I see so many saying they learn from reading commentaries that I figured that was what you were saying.

I obviously should have read a little further.
